Вдень 1 січня охоронець елітного готельного комплексу в селі Бреч на Чернігівщині зателефонував до поліції й повідомив, що знайшов на вулиці тіло прокурора Євгена Котенка.
Начальник відділу звернень громадян Офісу Генерального прокурора Євген Котенко був знайдений за 500 метрів від еко-готелю „Бреч”.
За попередньою інформацією, прокурор святкував новий рік у „Бречі” разом зі своєю дружиною Юлією, і близько другої ночі з невідомих причин пішов до лісу, де пробув орієнтовно до п’ятої ранку.
Камера відеоспостереження одного з прилеглих будинків зафіксувала, як прокурор вийшов з лісу, зупинився й зняв з себе одяг. Попередньою причиною смерті називають переохолодження.
Джерело у правоохоронних органах додає, що під час огляду тіла видимих тілесних ушкоджень фахівці не виявили, також не знайшли й слідів боротьби на місці смерті.
Євген Котенко раніше працював старшим помічником військового прокурора Анатолія Матіоса.
Дружина померлого, Юлія Котенко, також є співробітницею Офісу Генерального прокурора. Вона працює головним спеціалістом відділу роботи з кадрами в ОГП.
