Kőomlás történt egy bányászati és feldolgozó üzemben a lengyelországi Polkowice-Sieroszowice-ben július 5-én, az egyik munkás életét vesztette, számolt be a KGHM Polska Miedź cég, írta az RMF24, közölte a Jevropejszka Pravda.
Az eset este 9 óra után történt a tisztítótartály területén. Három munkás tartózkodott a veszélyzónában.
Ketten közülük a felszínre tudtak jutni, és könnyebb sérülésekkel kórházba szállították őket. Az életük nincs veszélyben.
A kutató-mentő akció egész éjjel tartott. Július 6-án, vasárnap reggel a cég megerősítette, hogy a harmadik alkalmazottat, egy 37 éves bányászt nem sikerült megmenteni.
A KGHM bejelentette, hogy egy különbizottság fogja kivizsgálni a baleset okait. A tragédiával kapcsolatban a vállalat minden részlegében háromnapos gyászt hirdetett.
A Dél-afrikai Köztársaságban kampány indult az illegális bányászat felszámolására. Az akció során járőrözés közben négy férfit találtak, akik arról számoltak be, hogy több mint száz ember rekedt egy elhagyatott bányában – írja az Origo.
A Dél-afrikai Köztársaságban található Sabie-ben járőrözött az egyik biztonsági társaság csapata, amikor találkoztak négy férfival. Látszott rajtuk, hogy az életükért menekülnek. Kiderült róluk, hogy illegális bányászok, és elmondták az őröknek, hogy az egyik elhagyatott bányában több mint 100 ember ragadt bent.
A helyi rendőrség szóvivője szerint az elhagyatott bányában 150 ember rekedt bent, hatan kijutottak, hárman pedig meghaltak – írja a Power987.

Huszonkét bányász halt meg földcsuszamlás következtében egy észak-tanzániai bányában – közölték vasárnap a mentők.
A tragédia Simuyu régió Bariadi körzetében történt, a fővárostól, Dodomától 500 kilométerre északra.
Faustine Mtitu, a régió mentőszolgálatának illetékese elmondta, hogy a mentési munkálatok végéig huszonkét áldozatot találtak, valamennyien férfiak. Hozzátette: meggyőződésük, hogy sokkal többen rekedtek a törmelék alatt. Mint mondta, a bányában nem tartották be a biztonsági előírásokat, de további részleteket nem árult el.
A mentők vezetője nem közölte a baleset pontos körülményeit, a tragédia időpontja sem ismert.
Tanzánia a világ negyedik legnagyobb aranytermelője. A bányákban gyakran előfordulnak balesetek, a bányászokat nem látják el megfelelő védőfelszereléssel.
Tanzániában, Kenyában, Etiópiában és Szomáliában több hete tart a viharos esőzés az El Nino időjárási jelenség miatt. Szomáliában egymillióan hagyták el otthonukat, a térségben több mint háromszázan haltak meg.
Decemberben hetvenhatan haltak meg földcsuszamlások miatt Tanzánia északi részében, Katesh régióban.
Az árvizek miatt 5600-an kényszerültek elhagyni az otthonaikat.

Újabb bányaszerencsétlenség történt Kínában. Ezúttal 11 ember vesztette életét egy szénbányában történt balesetben az északkelet-kínai Hejlungcsiang tartományban lévő Suangjasan városban – közölte a bányavállalat kedden.
Az első vizsgálatok szerint a hejlungcsiangi Longmay Suangjasan Bányavállalat suangjangi szénbányájában helyi idő szerint a délután 14 óra 40 perc körül történt balesetet kőomlás okozta.
A mentés már azóta befejeződött, a baleset okának vizsgálata jelenleg is folyamatban van.
Az utóbbi években ugyan már sokat javítottak a kínai bányászatban az általános biztonsági feltételeken, de ebből az esetből is látszik, hogy továbbra is rendszeresen előfordulnak halálos balesetek.

Az ország Déli-szigetének nyugati partja közelében fekvő Greymouth-tól nem messze található felszín alatti bányát 2010. november 19-én rázta meg robbanások sorozata, 29 ember halt meg, de a holttesteket nem találták meg.
A rendőrség a szerencsétlenség körülményeit vizsgálja annak megállapítására, hogy történt-e bűncselekmény, ezért fúrásokat végeztek a szénbányában. Darryl Sweeney nyomozó elmondta, hogy az egyik furaton keresztül feltételezhetően emberi maradványokat találtak egy olyan helyen, ahol tudni lehetett, hogy bányászok dolgoztak a baleset időpontjában.
Az orvosszakértők a képek alapján egyelőre nem tudták megállapítani, hogy valóban emberi maradványokat találtak-e, de a rendőrség már felvette a kapcsolatot annak a három embernek a családtagjaival, akiről úgy tudni, hogy az érintett területen dolgozott, amikor a robbanás történt.
