A katasztrófavédelem tájékoztatása szerint az üzem tulajdonosa a tűzoltók érkezése előtt megpróbálta saját maga eloltani a tüzet, de nem járt sikerrel.
A lángok megfékezésére kiérkeztek tűzoltók. A mintegy 120 négyzetméteres területen pusztító tüzet sikerült körülhatárolni és teljesen eloltani.
A beavatkozással megakadályozták, hogy a tűz átterjedjen a közeli raktárépületre.
A tűzesetben megsemmisült a szárítókamra, a kazánház egy része, valamint mintegy 50 köbméter bükkfaanyag. A tűz keletkezésének okát vizsgálják.

A helyszínre a huszti 14. számú állami tűzoltó- és mentőegység vonult ki, akik megállapították, hogy egy asztalosműhely gyulladt ki. Mint kiderült, a műhely közelében egy ciklonos porelszívó mechanizmusban a fűrészpor kapott lángra.
A tüzet az egyik munkás vette észre, aki azonnal hívta a 101-et, és kollégáival együtt saját erőből próbálták eloltani a tüzet.
A 3. számú állami tűzoltó- és mentőegység két csapata érkezett a helyszínre. 17 óra 35 perckor a tűzoltóknak sikerült lokalizálniuk a tüzet, majd 17 óra 58 perckor sikerült is eloltani. A tűz 8 köbméter fűrészport pusztított el, valamint megrongálta a ciklonos elszívó fémszerkezetét. A vállalkozás területén lévő többi épület nem sérült meg a lángokban.
A bűnüldöző szervek vizsgálják a tűz okát és az okozott kár mértékét.

A helyszínre azonnal kiérkezett a tűzoltóság két munkácsi egysége, akik kevesebb, mint egy óra alatt megfékezték a lángokat. A tűz három köbméter fűrészport pusztított el, s az aggregátban is kárt tett.
A másik eset a técsői járási Kalinán történt. Az egyik dolgozó szikrákat látott az elektromos panelnél, majd a lángok teljesen szétterjedtek a főépület tetőrészén. A tüzet sikerült rövid időn belül eloltani, azonban a tetőszerkezet teljesen tönkrement.
A tűz kitörésének okát mindkét esetben vizsgálják a szakértők.
