A munkavállalók érdekeiért tüntettek május elsején szerte a világon, több nagyvárosban ünnepi helyett hangos és dühös demonstrációkat tartottak.
Párizsban meggyújtották az ötkarikát, összevetve az olimpiarendezés költségeit a mindennapok megélhetési nehézségeivel. Szót emeltek a Gázai övezetben élő civilekért is.
A görög fővárosban a tüntetés központi szlogenje ez volt: „Nyolc óra munkát minden szektorban”. Athénban a munkavállalói jogok mellett a magas élelmiszerárak ellen is tiltakoztak. Egy athéni férfi kiemelte, hogy Görögországban az egészségügyi rendszer az az ágazat, amely a leginkább szenved a munkaerőhiánytól, különösen a kórházakba nem jelentkezik elég szakképzett munkavállaló. A privatizáció nem segít az orvos- és ápolóhiányon.
Isztambulban olyan heves volt a május elsejei tüntetés, hogy könnygázzal oszlatták a tömeget a rohamrendőrök. Több demonstrálót letartóztattak, mert a tilalom ellenére a főtéren akarták folytatni a kormányellenes megmozdulást.
A palesztin civileket sújtó humanitárius válság elhúzódása ellen tiltakozók Athénban és Isztambulban is közös kiállást mutattak az amerikai egyetemeken rendezett demonstrációkkal, illetve az ottani diákokkal és oktatókkal.
Szerdán rohamrendőröket vezényeltek a Kaliforniai Egyetemre Los Angelesben, New Yorkban kedden késő este szintén rohamrendőrök ürítették ki a Columbia Egyetem egyik elfoglalt épületét. Az Arizonai Egyetem tucson-i központjánál szintén voltak őrizetbe vételek szerdára virradóra, miután a tüntetők ellenálltak a hatósági felszólításnak.
Los Angelesben azt követően vált feszültté a helyzet, hogy az Izrael ellenes tüntetésen Izrael-párti ellentüntetők jelentek meg, és a két csoport összecsapott. A helyszíni beszámolók szerint a rendőrség az egyetem rektorának kétérésre avatkozott közbe majd két órával azt követően, hogy a két ellentábor összecsapott.
Az athéni május elsejei demonstráció résztvevői szolidaritást mutattak azokkal, akik ellen az Egyesült Államokban tartott tüntetéseken intézkedtek a hatóságok.

A koronavírus-járvány miatt érvényben lévő korlátozások dacára, különböző radikális baloldali szervezetek (Antifa, BLM, Black bloc, anarchisták) ismét utcára vonultak a világ nagyvárosaiban, erőszakos jellegű megmozdulásokat rendezve. Sok helyen rátámadtak a rendőrökre és gyújtogattak. Az évtizedekre visszamenő hagyományoknak megfelelően a radikális baloldal a legjelentősebb demonstrációját Párizsban tartotta, de komoly botrányokra került sor Berlinben, Torinóban és Isztambulban is. Londonban pedig valamennyi szélsőséges csoportosulás felvonult, így tiltakozva a rendőrség hatáskörét kiterjesztő törvénycsomag ellen. Az Egyesült Államokban a két anarchista fellegvárban, Seattle-ben és Portlandben szabadultak el az indulatok.
Franciaország
A francia nagyvárosokban hivatalos források szerint több mint 100 ezren, más adatok alapján 170 ezren vonultak utcára szombaton a szakszervezetek és a különböző radikális baloldali csoportosulások felhívására, a koronavírus-járvány miatti korlátozások ellenére.
A júniusig érvényben lévő rendkívüli állapot értelmében a gyülekezés csak 6 főig engedélyezett, az egészségbiztonsági előírások betartása mellett ugyanakkor a tüntetéseket és a felvonulásokat engedélyezik a helyi prefektúrák – derül ki az MTI beszámolójából.
A szakszervezetek közül a főszerep ezúttal is a legradikálisabbé, a szélsőbaloldali kötődésű CGT-é volt, de az Antifák, az anarchisták és az erőszakos fellépéseiről hírhedtté vált „Black bloc” sem hiányozhatott, amely utóbbi tagjai közül még a randalírozás előtt, csak Párizsban 46 embert vettek őrizetbe, mert szúró- és vágóeszközöket találtak náluk.
Ennek ellenére a megmozdulások epicentrumában, Párizs belvárosában a Black bloc őrizetbe nem vett tagjai és az Antifa-aktivisták rátámadtak a rendőrökre, kövekkel, botokkal, tűzijátékokkal és Molotov-koktélokkal dobálva meg őket.

Párizsban sokan Macron-ellenes jelszavakat skandáltak, de előkerült a Szovjetunió lobogója is.
A megmozdulásokon jelen voltak a radikális baloldali pártok prominens képviselői is, mint például a szélsőbaloldali Jean-Luc Mélenchon, a Lázadó Franciaország Párt elnöke Lille-ben, míg a vállaltan kommunista Fabien Roussel, a szocialista Olivier Faure és Julien Bayou, a Zöldek vezetője a fővárosban vonult fel. A potenciális elnökjelölt Mélenchon a CGT szakszervezet menetét vezette.

Lille-ben Párizstól eltérően nem került sor különösebb erőszakra, Nantes-ben azonban igen, a rendőrségnek még vízágyúkat és könnygázt is be kellett vetni a radikális baloldal megfékezése érdekében.
Szombaton este Berlinben a rendőrség feloszlatott egy több ezer fős megmozdulást, mert az erőszakos összecsapásokba torkollott – írja a V4NA nemzetközi hírügynökség.

A „forradalmi május 1-jei tüntetésként” (Revolutionäre 1. Mai-Demo) beharangozott demonstráción főleg az Antifa és más radikális baloldali csoportosulások aktivistái erőszakoskodtak.
A berlini megmozduláson képviseltette magát két kurd migránsokat tömörítő radikális baloldali szervezet, a Kurdisztáni Munkáspárt (Partiya Karkeren Kurdistan-PKK), illetve a hozzá részben kötődő Kurd Népvédelmi Egységek (Yekiyen Parastina Gel-YPG).
A PKK-t az Egyesült Államok, az Európai Unió és Törökország is terrorszervezetnek tekinti.

A tüntetés szakszervezeti vezetőjére is rátámadtak valakik a tömegből, így az maga is befejezettnek nyilvánította a tiltakozást, még a kijárási korlátozás életbe lépése előtt.
A „forradalmi” megmozdulások résztvevői a ZDF beszámolója szerint a Hermannplatzról a kreuzbergi városrészbe terveztek eljutni, vonulásuk közben, a Neukölln nevű, jelentős részben migránsok lakta kerületben azonban a rendőröknek meg kellett védeniük magukat a demonstrálók tömegéből érkező, radikális baloldali erőszakos támadásokkal szemben.
A Süddeutsche Zeitung cikke alapján a résztvevők egy része koronavírus-tagadó jelszavakat skandált, többfelé Che Guevara-képek és szélsőbaloldali jelképek, szlogenek bukkantak fel transzparenseken. Egyes csoportok kövekkel és üvegekkel dobálták a rendőröket, valamint szemeteskonténereket vonszoltak az utcára, és felgyújtották azokat.
Ezt követően egymás után csaptak fel a lángok különböző helyszíneken.

Thilo Cablitz rendőrségi szóvivő közölte, hogy a megmozdulás nagyrészt a járványvédelmi szabályok be nem tartásával zajlott.
Barbara Slowik berlini rendőrfőkapitány szerint összesen 240 letartóztatás történt a német fővárosban a szombat esti összetűzések után.
5600 rendőr teljesített szolgálatot ezen a napon, közülük legkevesebb 30-an megsebesültek az összecsapások során.
A fővároson kívül a németországi radikális baloldal egy másik központjában, Hamburgban került sor erőszakos jellegű megmozdulásra. Az elsősorban az anarchistákhoz kötődő randalírozásnak a rendőrség vízágyúk bevetésével vetett véget.
A londoni demonstráción a radikális baloldal túlzás nélkül valamennyi eleme képviseltette magát. A Breitbart cikke alapján jelen voltak a hagyományosnak számító elemek (Antifa, BLM, brit kommunisták, feministák) tiltakoztak továbbá a rendőrség hatáskörét jelentősen kiterjesztő törvénycsomag ellen is, amelynek az elemeit a brit alsóház fokozatosan fogadja el.
Ők az úgynevezett „Kill the Bill”-demonstrálók, utalva egyrészt Tarantino filmjének a címére, ugyanakkor a „bill” törvényt is jelent.

A sajtó szerint a több tízezres londoni rendezvény csúcspontját egyértelműen az jelentette, hogy az egyik felszólaló idézte a nemzetközi radikális baloldal élő ikonját, Assata Shakurt, a marxista Fekete Felszabadítási Hadsereg (Black Liberation Army-BLA) vezetőjét.
Assata Shakurról dióhéjban azt kell tudni, hogy egy amerikai katona 1973-ban történt megölése miatt az Egyesült Államokban elítélték, de ő a kommunista Kubába disszidált, ahol menedékjogot kapott. Az Egyesült Államokban terroristának tartják, az FBI körözési listáján is szerepel.
Olaszország
Olaszországban a radikális baloldali megmozdulások elsősorban Torinóra koncentrálódtak. A tüntetők rátámadtak a rendőrökre, majd egy látványos performance keretén belül guillotine alá helyeztek egy bábut, amin Mario Draghi miniszterelnök fényképe volt látható.
Törökországon belül a megmozdulások központja ezúttal is Isztambul volt. A különböző radikális baloldali csoportosulások és a szakszervezetek képviselői megtámadták a rendőröket, akik a helyszínen határozottan felléptek velük szemben, sokukat őrizetbe véve.
Az Egyesült Államokban a nyugati parton lévő két radikális baloldali fellegvárban, Portlandben és Seattle-ben voltak jelentősebb megmozdulások május elseje alkalmából.
Portlandben a belvárosban gyülekeztek az Antifa- és BLM-aktivisták, majd átvonultak a határon átnyúló bűnüldözésért felelős szövetségi szerv (ICE) épülete elé.
