Meghalt egy ember a michigani repülőshow pirotechnikai része alatt szombaton. A rendezvény oldalán az elhunyt férfi apja azt írta, a baleset a július 3-i Shockwave Jet Truck előadáson, a Battlecreek Field of Flight Airshow-n történt a Jet Truck sugárhajtású teherautó mechanikai meghibásodása miatt.
A jármű sofőrje, a 40 éves Chris Darnell helyi idő szerint körülbelül délután 13 órakor halt bele sérüléseibe.
Az esetről rengeteg videó készült, ugyanis a fellépéseket nagyon sok résztvevő rögzítette a telefonjával. A felvételeken jól látható a pillanat, amikor a speciális teherautó felrobban, darabjai szerteszét repülnek a fellépés helyszínén, majd hatalmas füsttel és lánggal ég.
„Nagyon szomorúak vagyunk. Éppen egy hónapja, hogy Chris 40 éves lett. Mindenki nagyon szerette, aki ismerte. Chris annyira szerette a repülőshow-t. Élt az álmának, ahogy ő mondta” – zárta a posztot Neal Darnell, a teherautót vezető férfi édesapja.
A rendőrség, a tűzoltóság és a légiközlekedési hivatal még vizsgálja a baleset körülményeit.
