 Részleges rendkívüli állapotot hirdettek pénteken a bolgár-török határhoz közel fekvő járásokban, amiért hirtelen sok menedékkérő érkezett a határhoz.
  Év eleje óta több mint 103 ezer menekült – főleg szíriai és afgán állampolgár -próbált meg bejutni Törökországból Bulgáriába, ami több mint háromszorosa annak, ahányan a tavalyi év azonos időszakában érkeztek.
 „Leggyakrabban úgy lépik át a határt, hogy létrát támasztanak a kerítésnek, és átugorják azt” – magyarázza a bolgár belügyminiszter. „Mindent megtettünk, ami lehetséges és szükséges, de nem csak mi. Aktív segítségünk van török részről, így a török belügyminiszterrel és a görög belügyminiszterrel folytatott találkozónk után már sokkal jobb a koordináció, sokkal jobb a kölcsönös segítségnyújtás a különböző országok szolgálatai között. Így a határt átlépni akaró migránsok jóval nagyobb részét már a helyszínen elriasztjuk.”
 Ez az első alkalom, hogy Bulgáriában rendkívüli állapotot hirdettek a migrációval kapcsolatban. Ez lehetőséget ad rá, hogy azonnal elkezdjék megjavítani a határkerítéshez közeli, rossz állapotban lévő erdei utakat, így a katonaság problémamentesen közlekedhessen a környéken. Bulgária tengeri határait is figyelik a bevándorlás miatt.
 Csak az elmúlt héten 6264 esetben próbálkoztak átlépni a határon illegálisan.
