Суд штату Теннессі призупинив будівництво складу з розширення компанії Jack Daniel’s, оскільки місцеві жителі заявили, що чорна пліснява від парів віскі вкрила всю територію навколо, повідомляє Guardian. Пари етанолу, що виділяються через бочки з віскі під час дозрівання напою, ускладнюють життя місцевих жителів.
Один із підвидів чорного грибка живиться спиртовими газами, тому вкриває територію навколо спиртзаводів стійкою кіркою. Наразі поширення чорної плісняви стало вже настільки великою проблемою в окрузі Лінкольн, штат Теннессі, що місцевий суд зупинив будівництво нового об’єкту компанії з виробництва віскі.
Це сталося після того, як власник конференцзалу, розташованого поруч із шістьма діючими складами, подав до суду на місцевий земельний відділ, заявивши, що грибок вийшов за межі і завдає шкоди його бізнесу.
Грибок Baudoinia compniacensis – відомий шкідник, який з’являється навколо дерев’яних бочок. Через ці ємності щороку випаровується до 2 відсотків об’єму спирту, коли напій дозріває, і пари, які вивільняються в повітря, сприяють поширенню грибка.
Тож явище не нове. Подібні судові позови подали вже у кількох країнах, скаржачись на те, що чорний грибок покриває стіни, вуличні меблі, дерева та навіть дорожні знаки, негативно впливаючи на життя людей і знижуючи вартість нерухомості.
