Az Egyesült Nemzetek Szervezete szerint megtámadták az irodájukat Afganisztán nyugati részén. Az épület egyik őrét megölték, amikor a tálibok és az afgán erők heves csatákat vívtak a környéken.
Az összecsapások Herát tartomány Guzara kerületében zajlottak, körülbelül 10 kilométerre Herát tartomány fővárosától. Az azonban nem derült ki, hogy melyik fél a felelős a támadásért.
A harcok fokozódtak Afganisztánban, az utolsó amerikai és NATO-csapatok kivonulásával a háború sújtotta országból. Az elmúlt hónapokban a tálibok tucatnyi támadtak meg, és több stratégiai határátkelőt is elfoglaltak.
