A frissített adatok szerint még legalább 91 diák lehet az összeomlott indonéziai iskolaépület romjai alatt – közölte kedden este Abdul Muhari, az országos katasztrófavédelem szóvivője.
A hatóságok a gyerekeiket kereső szülőkkel egyeztetve a helyszínen módosították a romok alá szorultak számát a korábbi 38-ról 91-re – írja az MTI.
A katasztrófavédelmi szóvivő közlése szerint egy több mint háromszáz fős mentőcsapat dolgozik a túlélők kiszabadításán, de nem tudnak nehézgépeket használni, mert félő, hogy a törmelékek mozgása további tragédiákat okoz. Hat gyereket, akit ugyan élve megtaláltak, de még nem tudtak kiszabadítani, élelem és víz bejuttatásával próbálnak életben tartani – fűzte hozzá.
A Kelet-Jáva tartományban, Sidoarjo körzet Buduran falujában található bentlakásos iszlám iskola épülete hétfőn délután dőlt össze, maga alá temetve az éppen imádkozó diákokat. A hatóságok kedden három halálos áldozatról és mintegy száz sérültről számoltak be. Közlésük szerint főleg fiúk lehetnek még a romok alatt, mert a lányok külön épületrészben voltak, ahonnan sikerült kimenekülniük. Többtucatnyi diákot, főleg törések miatt kórházba kellett szállítani.
A katasztrófavédelem szerint az épület azért dőlt össze, mert engedély nélkül akarták két újabb emelettel bővíteni, amelynek súlyát a falak nem bírták el.
A budurani iskola a tartomány legrégebbi bentlakásos intézménye, már 1920-ban tanultak ott diákok, mielőtt 1927-ben hivatalosan is megnyitották. Jelenleg mintegy kétezer diákja van.

Egy helyi rendőrtiszt, aki névtelenséget kért, a Reuters hírügynökségnek elmondta: az iskolaépület régi volt, és a tető vélhetően az intenzív esőzések következtében omlott le. Madan Dilawar, Rádzsasztán oktatási minisztere az AajTak hírcsatornának megerősítette, hogy a baleset a reggeli imát követően történt.
A televíziós csatornák felvételein látható, ahogy a helyiek körülállják a baleset helyszínét, miközben mentőcsapatok daruval próbálják eltávolítani a törmeléket. A kétségbeesett családtagok sírása hallatszik a háttérben.
A helyi média szerint eddig 32 diákot sikerült élve kimenteni a romok közül, de a mentési munkálatok még folytatódnak. Bhajanlal Sharma, Rádzsasztán állam kormányfője az X közösségi oldalon közölte: „Utasítottuk az illetékes hatóságokat, hogy biztosítsák a sérült gyermekek megfelelő orvosi ellátását.”

Legkevesebb nyolc ember meghalt, amikor összeomlott egy hatemeletes lakóház Kairóban – közölte az egyiptomi egészségügyi minisztérium. A tragédia során további három ember megsérült, akiket kórházba szállítottak. Az érintett épület az 1960-as években épült és Kairó nyugati részén, Waili városrészben helyezkedett el.
A helyi hatóságok elrendelték a környező épületek kiürítését, hogy megelőzzenek egy esetleges újabb katasztrófát.
A baleset pontos okát még vizsgálják, de Egyiptomban az ilyen események nem számítanak ritkaságnak az illegális építkezések és a karbantartás hiánya miatt – írja az ABC News.

Kedden késő este összeomlott egy szálloda egyik szárnya Kröv településen, a németországi Rajna-vidék-Pfalz tartományban, a Mosel folyó partján. A helyi rendőrség tájékoztatása szerint egy ember meghalt, és nyolcan még a romok alatt vannak.
Az épületben tizennégyen tartózkodtak és öten sértetlenül el tudták hagyni. Az ismeretek szerint az épületben rekedtek között súlyos sérültek is vannak. Néhányukkal sikerült kapcsolatot létesíteni.
Az épületben rekedtek között egy gyermek is van, de ő sértetlen. Az áldozatot lokalizálták, de még nem tudták kiemelni.
A mentőszolgálatok számos járművel vonultak ki.
A Südwestrundfunk (SWR) regionális műsorszolgáltató beszámolója szerint a tűzoltók a mentési munkálatokat megnehezítő omlásveszély miatt még nem jutottak be az épületbe. A műszaki mentők mérőeszközöket szereltek fel az épületszerkezet mozgásának a megfigyelésére annak eldöntésére, hogy be lehet-e jutni. Fennáll a veszélye annak, hogy az épület további részei omlanak össze, ami a szomszédos épületekben is károkat okozhat. A szomszédos épületeket ezért evakuálták.
A helyszínről sugárzott képek alapján egy többszintes, faszerkezetű épület egyes részei omlottak össze, a földön betontörmelék hever.
A nyeregtetős épület hátra dőlt, a földszint pedig összeroskadt.
Az épületomlás kiváltó oka egyelőre nem ismert. Erről sem a rendőrség, sem a tűzoltóság nem tudott tájékoztatást adni.

A mentést végző tűzoltók első értékelése szerint vélhetően az első emelet túlterheltsége okozhatta a tragédiát, amelynek leszakadását követően a földszint is beomlott az alagsorba.
Szemtanúi beszámolók szerint a vízparti Medusa Beach Club nevű vendéglátóhely tele volt vendégekkel, voltak, akik még vacsoráztak, mások viszont már táncolni kezdtek, amikor a szerencsétlenség bekövetkezett.
Az áldozatokat már azonosították, de a hatóságok egyelőre nem hozták nyilvánosságra nemzetiségüket, valamint azt sem, hogy turisták is vannak-e közöttük.
A tragédia miatt háromnapos gyászt rendeltek el a Baleár-szigetek fővárosában, és több párt is bejelentette, hogy felfüggeszti a hivatalosan pénteken kezdődő európai parlamenti választási kampányát.

Több gyermek is megsérült, miután beomlott egy thaiföldi iskola egyik tantermének padlója – írja a Metro. A diákok 3 métert zuhantak az alattuk lévő zavaros víztömegbe.
A baleset helyi idő szerint csütörtökön történt Csonburi tartományban, a gyerekek épp angolórán vettek részt, amikor az öreg épület padlója beomlott.
Nagyjából 30 diák esett a vízbe, többségük enyhe sérülést szenvedett, kettejüket viszont kórházba kellett szállítani.
Prajocs Keeratipakorn iskolaigazgató szerint a padló akkor dőlhetett össze, amikor a gyerekek a terem elejébe rohantak, hogy kérdésekre válaszoljanak. Mint elmondta, korábban a 47 éves építmény több részénél is felújítást kért, az érintett helyiség viszont jó állapotúnak tűnt, ezért nem javították meg.
Az esetet követően az iskola elnézést kért a gyermekek szüleitől. A terem helyreállítása megkezdődött.

Három ember meghalt és többen megsérültek, miután összeomlott egy hatemeletes épület a Kenya középső részén fekvő Kiambuban – írja a BBC.
A mentési munkálatok jelenleg is folyamatban vannak, és a mentőszolgálat munkatársainak sikerült kihúzniuk egy gyermeket a romok alól.
Többeket már kimentettek, de életveszélyes sérüléseikkel kerültek kórházba – mondta Kimani Wamatangi, Kiambu megye kormányzója.
A kenyai épületomlásokért a múltban a rossz szerkezeti tervezést vagy a hanyag építkezést okolták.
A mostani összeomlás oka nem világos, de az épület a leomláskor még építés alatt állt.
Szemtanúk szerint egy szomszédos épületre dőlt a hétemeletes ház. Nem tudni, hány ember van még a romok alatt.
A mentés során egy kisgyermeket is kihúztak a romok alól, akit jelenleg kórházban kezelnek – jelentette a KBC országos műsorszolgáltató.
„Amit itt láttunk, az katasztrofális, nem engedhetjük meg, hogy ez megtörténjen” – mondta Wamatangi kormányzó újságíróknak, miután segített a mentési munkálatokban.
Katonák, a Kenyai Vöröskereszt és a Nemzeti Ifjúsági Szolgálat munkatársai, valamint helyi önkéntesek is a helyszínen vannak Kiambu városában, amely a fővárostól, Nairobitól mintegy 20 kilométerre északra fekszik.
