Az ausztrál hatóságok szerdán megtalálták a korábban eltűnt radioaktív kapszulát, miután csaknem egy hétig keresték egy 1400 kilométeres országút mentén – közölte a helyi katasztrófavédelmi tárca vezetője.
Stephen Dawson miniszter kijelentette, hogy a hadsereg ellenőrzi a sugárzó eszközt, és csütörtökön Perthbe, biztonságos létesítménybe szállítják. A kapszula egy olyan mérőeszköz része volt, amelyet a Rio Tinto Gudai-Darri bányájából származó vasérc betáplálási sűrűségének mérésére használtak az állam Kimberley régiójában. A szállítmány egy Perth külvárosában lévő létesítménybe tartott – ez a távolság nagyobb, mint Nagy-Britanniát átszelni északról délre.

Az Érsekújvári járáshoz tartozó bellegszencsei termálfürdő vizében olyan mértékű radioaktivitást mutattak ki, ami jelentősen meghaladja az egészségügyi határértéket – írja a szlovák közszolgálati adó (RTVS) alapján a bumm.sk.
Radioaktív anyagokat tartalmaz a bellegszencsei termálfürdő vize. A radioaktivitás szintje jelentősen meghaladja az egészségügyi határértéket. Mindezt megpróbálták eltitkolni, a rendőrség nyomoz az ügyben.
A Szlovák Környezetvédelmi Felügyelet (SIŽP) és a rendőrség megállapította, hogy a bellegszencsei (Podhájska) termálfürdő működtetői törvényt sértettek, és eltitkolták, hogy radioaktív anyagok kerültek a vízbe a geotermikus kútból. Erről Jana Žjak tájékoztatott szombaton a környezetvédelmi tárca kommunikációs osztályától.
„A minisztérium vezetése mindent megtesz azért, hogy ismét használhatóvá váljon a termálvíz Bellegszencse településen. Azonban nem folytatódhat a törvénysértés” – olvasható az állasfoglalásban.
A geotermikus kútból származó víz radioaktivitási szintje jelentősen meghaladja az egészségügyi határértéket. A rendőrség megállapításai szerint szándékosan eltitkolták ezt az információt a méréseket követően.
A rendőrségi nyomozásból kitűnik, hogy az előző környezetvédelmi tárca a meghamisított vízelemzések alapján engedélyezte a geotermikus víz használatát. A felügyelet szerint törvénytelenül szivattyúzták a vizet a kútból és használták fel a fürdőben. A fürdőt 130 000 eurós bírsággal sújtották, fellebbeztek a bírság ellen.
A geotermikus víz jogosulatlan szivattyúzása mellett a fürdő évekig illegálisan beleengedte a szennyvizet a Liska patakba, amely a Zsitvába (Žitava) folyik. „A szakértői elemzés alátámasztotta, hogy a bellegszencsei termálfürdőből származó víz miatt tönkrement a folyó és jelentős környezeti károk keletkeztek” – közölte a tárca.

Franciaország az 1960-as években nukleáris teszteket hajtott végre Gerbois Bleue fedőnéven a Szaharában, melyek során összesen négy atombombát robbantottak fel 14 hónap leforgása alatt Algériában.
Úgy tűnik, hogy a hat évtizede történt teszteléseknek most ihatják meg a franciák a levét, ugyanis az Euronews értesülései szerint éppen a radioaktív szaharai homokot fújta vissza a szél az ország területére, bár szakértők egyöntetű véleménye alapján egészségügyi problémákat nem okozott a porvihar.
Februárban erős ciklonoknak és szélmozgásoknak köszönhetően szaharai por lepte be a francia Jura régiót, az esemény következtében a lehullott hó narancssárgává változott.

A La Laguna Egyetem kémikusa, Pedro Salazar Carballo a portál megkeresésére elmondta, a legnagyobb problémát a természetes radon jelenti, ami a bomlási folyamatok során a talajból kioldódik, és bekerülhet a légtérbe is.
Mindezek apropóján kijelenthetjük, hogy az atomfegyverek tesztelései sajnos világméretű gondokat szültek, amiket még az elkövetkező évtizedekben, sőt évszázadokban sem tudunk orvosolni, megpecsételve ezzel az érintett környezetek sorsát.

A DW német hírportál arról számolt be, hogy a holland közegészségügyi hatóságok a skandináviai adatok alapján úgy vélik, a sugárzás egy oroszországi atomerőműből származik, és arra utal, hogy az egyik reaktorban megsérülhetett egy üzemanyagrúd.
Az orosz illetékesek, a Roszenergoatom vezetői azt mondják, a térségben lévő atomerőművek fennakadás nélkül üzemelnek, és a szentpétervári és murmanszki területen június során nem változott meg a radioaktivitás szintje.
A DW szerint a nukleáris katonai kísérletek betiltásáról szóló egyezmény betartását megfigyelő nemzetközi szervezet szerint a veszélyt nem okozó, valószínűleg polgári forrásból származó sugárzást a cézium 134-es és 137-es, valamint a ruténium 203-as izotópja okozza.
Európában jelenleg 181 reaktor működik: Nyugat-Európában 108, Kelet- és Közép-Európában 73.
A sugárzás mostani kismértékű emelkedése miatt sokaknak az 1986-os csernobili atombaleset jutott az eszébe, akkor a szovjet hatóságok napokig nem voltak hajlandóak elismerni a súlyos atombaleset bekövetkeztét. A sugárzást – a külföldi államok közül – akkor is először az észak-európai országokban észlelték.
