A Centcom szerint az amerikai haditengerészet a Maersk Hangzhou, egy szingapúri zászló alatt közlekedő, Dánia tulajdonában és üzemeltetésében lévő konténerszállító hajó segítségkérésére reagált, amely arról számolt be, hogy 24 órán belül másodszor támadták meg a Vörös-tengeren.

A bajba jutottakat a katasztrófavédelem vitte partra, a balesetben senki sem sérült meg.
Leszakadt jégtábláról mentettek ki 122 embert a minnesotai Vörös-tóból péntek este.
A horgászok a part menti jégtáblán lékhorgásztak, de egy hatalmas darab levált és a tó közepe felé sodródott.
A járókelők kenun keresztül próbálták kimenteni a jégtáblán rekedt horgászokat, a mentést a kiérkező tűzoltók folytatták.
A balesetben senki sem sérült meg, de négy ember a jeges vízbe zuhant.
„Mielőtt a katasztrófavédelem a helyszínre érkezett, a járókelők kenuval próbálták kimenekíteni a bajba jutott embereket. Négy személy esett a vízbe a rögtönzött mentőakció során, őket társaik visszahúzták a jégtáblára” – közölte Jason Riggs Beltrami megyei seriff.

Egy híd alatt rekedt sofőrre talált két ember Indiana államban, mikor épp horgászhelyeket kerestek maguknak. A férfi korábban balesetet szenvedett, beszorult a teljesen összeroncsolódott teherautójába. A sofőr élelem és víz nélkül volt hat napig.
Két horgász talált rá arra 27 éves kamionsofőrre, akinek a teherautója december 20-án karambolozott egy amerikai autópályán.

Karácsonyi ünneplőket zavartak meg New Yorkban, két helyszínen is, palesztin párti tüntetők. Azt követelték, hogy amíg a Közel-Keleten háború dúl, senki ne ünnepelje a karácsonyt. A Hamász terrorszervezet október 7-én terrortámadást indított Izrael ellen. A zsidó állam ezután indított háborút a Gázai övezetben.
„Ne legyen karácsony, ne legyen ünneplés!” – ezt kiáltozta több száz palesztin New Yorkban. A felvonulók Manhattanban a Rockefeller központnál felállított hatalmas karácsonyfa körül tiltakoztak, ahol ilyenkor hagyományosan turisták és helyiek ezrei gyűlnek össze, hogy együtt ünnepeljék Jézus Krisztus megszületését.
A palesztin tüntetők átvonultak a feldíszített téren és azt kiálltozták, hogy amíg harcok folynak a Közel-Keleten ne ünnepelje senki sem a karácsonyt. Több felvonuló az intifádát, azaz az Izrael elleni felkelést éltette.
Jézus palesztin volt és Betlehemben született, ezért ott a Gáza melletti kiállás jelképeként és a rengeteg áldozat miatt nem ünneplik idén a karácsonyt. Senki sem ünnepelhet amíg a civileket támadják! – mondta egy tüntető.
A demonstrálók egy építményt vittek magukkal ezen romokon ülő Szűz Máriát ábrázolták, ahogy karjában véres lepelbe csomagolt halott gyermeket, Jézus Krisztust tartja.
A palesztinok felvonulása rövid időn belül dulakodásba torkollott.
Az eredetileg békés, háború és erőszak elleni tüntetetés résztvevői rátámadtak a rendőrökre, lökdösték őket. Több tüntető arca nem látszott, mert a palesztin ellenállást jelképező kendővel teljesen letakarták a fejüket.
Miután a helyzet egyre súlyosabbá vált és egyre többen támadtak a rendőrökre, megérkezett az erősítés, voltak akit földre tepertek a rendőrök, csak így tudták megfékezni és megbilincselni.
Több, a rendőrökkel erőszakoskodó tüntetőt őrizetbe vettek, az incidensben rendőrök sérültek meg.
A Washington Square Parkban százak gyűltek össze, hogy az ünnep alkalmából karácsonyi énekeket énekeljenek együtt.
Javában tartott a közös éneklés, amikor palesztin tüntetők autókkal jelentek meg a helyszínen.
Folyamatosan dudáltak, majd röviddel később palesztin-párti demonstrálók érkeztek zászlókkal, hangosbemondókkal. Szabad Palesztinát követeltek és azt, hogy senki ne ünnepelje a karácsonyt. A közös karácsonyi éneklésnek ezzel vége szakadt.

A madarakat többnyire egy indián rezervátumban, Montana nyugati részén ejtették el.
Egyszer egy szarvastetemet használtak fel, hogy oda vonzzák a madarakat, mielőtt lelőtték őket.

Három ember a Nashville-től 80 kilométerre fekvő Montgomery megyében vesztette életét, köztük egy kisgyermek. Rajtuk kívül 23 sérültet a környékbeli kórházakban kellett ellátni – közölték helyi tisztségviselők.
A másik három halálos áldozatot Nashville egy lakónegyedében követelte a vihar, ugyanott a forgószél miatt beomlott egy templom teteje, aminek nyomán 13 embert vittek kórházba.
Helyi hatóságok szerint a térségben legkevesebb 22 tornádó alakult ki szombaton délután.
A vihar sújtotta településeken helyi idő szerint vasárnap délelőtt már a romok eltakarításán és a károk összegzésén dolgoztak, miközben Tennessee államban még mintegy 45 ezer háztartásban nem volt áram.
A tornádókat okozó időjárási frontból vasárnap már jelentős esőket várnak az ország keleti államai közül Floridában, Georgiában és Virginiában is.

Az amerikai igazságügyi minisztérium háborús bűnökkel vádol négy orosz férfit, köztük két parancsnokot, amiért állítólag részt vettek egy amerikai megkínzásában az ukrajnai invázió során. Ez az első vádemelés az orosz fegyveres erők tagjai ellen az Ukrajna elleni háború során elkövetett atrocitásokkal kapcsolatban – írta meg az AP News.
A vádak szerint – amelyeket egy közel 30 éves amerikai törvény alapján emeltek a négy orosz személy ellen – többek között azt állítják, hogy megkínoztak és embertelenül bántak Ukrajnában egy amerikai személlyel szemben. A lépés egyelőre szimbolikus jelentőségű, mivel mind a négy vádlott jelenleg szökésben van.
