Egy svájci sertésfarmot sújtó tűzben nyolcszáz állat pusztult el – tájékoztatott csütörtökön a St. Gallen-i kanton rendőrsége.
A Gossau településen működő sertésfarmon egyelőre tisztázatlan okokból csaptak fel a lángok szerdán. A hatóságok jelentése szerint 90 anyaállatot és 600 kismalacot sikerült kimenteni.
A sertésfarm egyik épületének beszakadt a tetőszerkezete, és teljesen kiégett. A tűzoltóknak sikerült megakadályozni, hogy a lángok átterjedjenek egy második épületre is, ott csak a sűrű füst okozott károkat.
A tűz okozta anyagi kár becslések szerint több százezer svájci frankra tehető.

Egy nagy sertéshizlaldában szombaton keletkezett tűzben több ezer állat pusztult el az észak-közép-németországi Szász-Anhalt tartomány Altmark régiójában.
A tűzoltóság kezdetben azt közölte, hogy mintegy húszezer sertés pusztult el. A vállalat szóvivője később úgy pontosított, hogy 1750 koca és ismeretlen számú malac vált a lángok martalékává.
Az Altmark régió Salzwedel körzetének szóvivője szerint egy kocára általában körülbelül nyolc malac jut.
A tájékoztatás szerint 5200 kocát és 35 ezer malacot mentettek meg.
Összesen több mint 210 tűzoltót vetettek be – közölte a helyi járási hivatal.
A tűzoltási munkálatok valószínűleg a hétvégén is folytatódnak – mondta Inga Otte-Sonnenschein, a jogi és járási hivatal vezetője. A sertéshizlalda mintegy harmada megsemmisült a tűzben – tette hozzá a nyilatkozó.

Kétszáz juh, tíz sertés, valamint több tonna gabona és szalmabála égett le abban a tűzben, amely egy ostrovi istállóban pusztított.
Tegnap este 9 óra után a katonai tűzoltókat egy ostrovi juhistállóban keletkezett tűzhöz riasztották. Három tűzoltóautó és egy SMURD B2 típusú gépjármű, valamint az Ostrovi Önkéntes Mentőszolgálat egy tartálykocsival érkezett segítségül – adta hírül a maszol.ro az Agerpres információi alapján.
A tűzben rengeteg állat pusztult el: kétszáz birka és tíz sertés, valamint jelentős mennyiségű takarmány is odaveszett.
A pusztító lángok elől sikerült 400 juhot és 50 kecskét sikerült kimenekíteni, míg a hivatásos segítség meg nem érkezett. A hodály tetőszerkezete 1500 négyzetméteren égett.
A tüzet kicsivel hajnal 4 óra előtt sikerült eloltani – jelentette a dobrudzsai katasztrófavédelem.

A dzud akkor fordul elő, amikor a nyári aszályt erős havazások és extrém fagyok váltják fel. A levegő hőmérséklete -30°C-ra, vagy még alacsonyabbra is csökkenhet. Magas hótakaró és vastag jégtakaró van a legelőkön, amelyek megfosztják az állatállományt az élelemtől.
A dzudok egyre gyakrabban fordulnak elő Mongóliában, így a legelőknek nincs idejük a szélsőséges időjárási viszonyok között regenerálódni, a pásztoroknak pedig nincs idejük a készletezésre.
Mongóliában mintegy 300 000 ember hagyományos nomád pásztor. A dzud az ország háromnegyedét érintette, de a körülmények várhatóan romlanak.
Az Egészségügyi Világszervezet adatai szerint a hótakaró idei szintje az elmúlt 49 évben a legmagasabb volt, és Mongólia területének 90%-át borította.
A dzud ciklikus jelenség és egyre gyakrabban fordul elő. Hatszor fordult elő az elmúlt 10 évben.

A több, mint 2 éve tartó ukrajnai háború az állatokat és az embereket is érinti, de nem egyformán. A katonai tevékenység szinte biztosan felelős a fekete-tengeri delfinek tízezreinek haláláért; de Ukrajna háborús vadászati tilalma jót tett a rókáknak, amelyek száma robbanásszerűen megnőtt.
A háború mérhetetlen ökológiai károkat is okozott. Az erdők és a sztyeppék leégtek, a földet és a vizet robbanóanyagok és vegyi anyagok szennyezték. Az év elején az ukrán kormány azt állította, hogy a háború már mintegy 56 milliárd dollárnyi kárt okozott az ország ökoszisztémájában − írja a The Economist.
A háború hatása a delfinekre különösen szörnyű volt. Ivan Rusev, a délnyugati Besszarábiában található Tuzly Lagúnák Nemzeti Természetvédelmi Park tudományos igazgatója szerint nem sokkal az invázió két évvel ezelőtti kezdete után halott delfinek kezdtek a park partjainál partra sodródni. Különböző információforrásokból extrapolálva úgy véli, hogy 2022-ben 50 ezer delfin pusztult el.
Azt mondja, „99 százalékban biztos” abban, hogy a vizsgálatok igazolni fogják, hogy a pusztulás elsődleges oka az orosz haditengerészeti szonárok voltak, amelyek „megvakították” őket, megnehezítve a vadászatot és hajlamossá téve őket a fertőzésekre.
Másokat a fehér foszforos bombák robbanásai által okozott égési sérülések öltek meg. Tavaly, miután az orosz haditengerészetet visszaszorították a Fekete-tenger nyugati részéről, az elpusztult delfinek száma drasztikusan csökkent.

Mintegy 45 kis kardszárnyú delfin és palackorrú delfin vetődött partra vasárnap délután Új-Zéland északi szigetének keleti partvidékén, és mind elpusztultak – közölte hétfőn az új-zélandi Természetvédelmi Hivatal.
A helyi közösségnek egy időre sikerült az árhullámmal visszaterelni a delfincsapatot a mélyebb vizekbe, de később a partvidék egy távolabbi, megközelíthetetlen zátonyos részén ismét partra vetődtek. Számos állat elpusztult, a többieken pedig eutanáziával segítettek – osztotta meg a részleteket a hivatal.
Az eutanázia mellett a tudósok szakvéleményének kikérése után döntöttek az illetékesek. A szakértők ugyanis úgy értékelték, hogy a delfinek visszaterelésére a mélyebb vizekbe és túlélésükre alig van remény.
„A delfincsapatot nagyon rossz, sérült állapotban fedezték fel a sziklás partszakaszon, amikor több delfin már elpusztult. Nyilvánvalóan szenvedtek, és az eutanázia volt a leghumánusabb megoldás” – magyarázta a hivatal illetékese.
Bálnák és delfinek gyakran rekednek meg az új-zélandi vizeken. Partra vetődésük okai nem világosak, de a hivatal szerint közrejátszhat benne betegség, navigációs hiba, földrajzi tényezők, a hirtelen apály, esetleg az, hogy a csapatot ragadozó üldözi, illetve a szélsőséges időjárás is.

Legkevesebb 160 elefánt pusztult el a Zimbabwét sújtó szárazság miatt, és mivel a forró, száraz időjárás folytatódik, a természetvédők attól tartanak, hogy még több állat hullik majd el.
Az elefántok tavaly augusztus és december között pusztultak el a 14 651 négyzetkilométeres Hwange nemzeti parkban, amely az elefántok, bölények, oroszlánok, gepárdok, zsiráfok és más veszélyeztetett fajok otthona.
A közelmúltban legalább hat másik elefántot találtak holtan a parkon kívül, vélhetően orvvadászat miatt.
A zimbabwei parkokért és vadon élő állatokért felelős hatóság (Zimparks) megerősítette a parkban elpusztult elefántok számát és a szárazságnak tulajdonította azt. Tinashe Farawo, a Zimparks szóvivője kedden elmondta: „Vizsgálatokat végeztünk, és az eredmények azt mutatják, hogy éhezés miatt haltak meg. Az elpusztult elefántok többsége idős vagy beteg volt.”
A Hwange parkban 2023-ban február és november között nem esett eső. A meteorológusok szerint október és idén március között erős El Niño időjárási jelenség várható, ami forró, száraz időjárást és kevés csapadékot eredményez.
Az ENSZ Humanitárius Ügyek Koordinációs Hivatala novemberi frissítésében azt írta, hogy ez valószínűleg késleltetett csapadékhullást és elhúzódó szárazságot fog eredményezni, és aszályhoz vezethet Zimbabwéban – írta a Guardian.
Hwange természetvédelmi csoportjai napenergiával működő rendszereket telepítenek a meglévő kutakra, hogy meghosszabbítsák a szivattyúzás idejét.
Az aszályok már korábban is okoztak tömeges elefántpusztulást Zimbabwéban: 2019-ben két hónap alatt több mint 200 állat pusztult el a vízhiány miatt.
A Hwange-ban dolgozó állatorvosok elmondták, hogy az elefántok a park egyik leggyakrabban használt vízvételi pontja körül csoportosan pusztultak el.
Egy szeptemberi számlálás során több mint 1800 elefánt próbált inni egyetlen vízforrásból.
Az aszályos körülmények súlyosbodásával az orvvadászat újbóli fellángolása is fenyegeti a zimbabwei elefántokat és más vadon élő állatokat.
Januárban hat elefánt halálát jegyezték fel Gwayiben, a Hwange parkon kívül, amit a környezetvédelmi jogvédő csoportok az orvvadászatnak tulajdonítanak. A csoportok szerint az elefántok agyarait eltávolították, ami elefántcsont orvvadászatra utal.

Több száz elpusztult hattyút találtak a közép-ázsiai Kazahsztán egyik természetvédelmi területén. Az állatok valószínűleg madárinfluenzában pusztulhattak el – közölték környezetvédelmi tisztviselők.

Aktivisták korábban aggodalmukat fejezték ki a nyugat-kazahsztáni környezeti problémák, különösen a levegő- és vízszennyezés miatt.
