Egy társasházban történt a támadás, ahol az osztrák lapoknak nyilatkozó lakók elmondták, hogy a fiatal férfi pszichés beteg és feltehetően azért viselkedett agresszívan, mert nem vette be a gyógyszereit. A házban lakó 21 éves iraki migráns látszólag minden előjel és ok nélkül támadt rá 31 éves szomszédnőjére.
Többször háton, mellkason és hasba szúrta áldozatát.
A nő életveszélyesen megsérült. A nő nem védekezett, meglepte a támadás, mivel állítólag jóban voltak egymással.
