 29-річний експоліцейський утримував Флойда, тоді як його колишній колега Дерек Шовін притиснув шию афроамериканця ногою, внаслідок чого той помер від задухи.
 У жовтні цього року в рамках угоди з обвинуваченням Куенг визнав себе винним у пособництві та підбурюванні до ненавмисного вбивства другого ступеня. Тепер він відбуватиме два терміни паралельно: у липні його засудили до трьох років в’язниці за федеральними звинуваченнями.
 Він з’явився на слухання щодо винесення вироку в окружному суді округу Хеннепін через відеозв’язок із федеральної в’язниці в Огайо.
 Дерека Шовіна, якого вже засудили за вбивство афроамериканця, додатково засудили ще до 20 років за порушення цивільних прав жертви.

 Нагадаємо, що вже тиждень у багатьох американських містах тривають вуличні протести з погромами і актами вандалізму, що спалахнули після загибелі 46-річного афроамериканця Джорджа Флойда в Міннеаполісі 25 травня.
 Поліцейські затримали його при спробі розплатитися в магазині банкнотою, яку продавці вважали фальшивою. Один з поліцейських притиснув його до асфальту, надавав коліном на горло. Флойд заявляв, що не може дихати, але співробітники поліції не звертали на це уваги.
 Пізніше чоловік помер в лікарні. Згідно з результатами розтину, смерть наступила в результаті «механічної асфіксії».
 Чотирьох поліцейських, причетних до загибелі беззбройного афроамериканця, звільнили. А офіцера поліції, який тримав затриманого на землі, взяли під варту.
