Több tucat ember, többségében férfiak vesztették életüket vasárnap az afrikai Burkina Faso délkeleti részén található Natiaboani egyik mecsete ellen intézett támadásban.
Egy helyi lakos szerint a városba kora reggel érkező fegyveresek előbb körülzárták a mecsetet, majd az épületbe belépve tüzet nyitottak a napindító ima résztvevőire, akik közül sok imádkozó és egy vallási elöljáró is meghalt. A szemtanú hozzátette, hogy széleskörű támadás történt, amelynek a vallási gyülekezeten kívül a hadsereg helyi reguláris és önkéntesekből álló alakulata is a célpontja volt.
Szintén vasárnap, istentisztelet közben érte fegyveres támadás az ország északi részán található Dori egyházmegye egyik katolikus templomát, ahol legalább 15 ember vesztette életét. A hadsereg szerint ezt, valamint a hadsereg egy-egy további északi és keleti egysége ellen indított támadásokat is dzsihadista szélsőségesek hajthatták végre. A hadsereg közölte, hogy a légi támogatással indított ellencsapásaiban több száz terroristával végeztek.
Burkina Faso, különösen az ország északi része, 2015 óta van folyamatosan kitéve az al-Kaida és az Iszlám Állam terrorszervezethez köthető dzsihadista csoportok fegyveres támadásainak, amelyeknek a hadseregen kívül a vallási közösségek is rendszeres célpontjai. Az utóbbi négy évben a dzsihadisták több muszlim és keresztény vallási elöljárót, illetve papot is megöltek vagy elraboltak.
A nyugat-afrikai ország hadserege 2022-ben buktatta meg a 2015 óta hivatalban lévő Roch Marc Christian Kaboré elnököt, aki képtelen volt megbirkózni a dzsihadista erőszakkal. A dzsihadisták támadásainak következtében 2015 óta csaknem 20 ezer ember meghalt, további két millióan pedig otthonuk elhagyására kényszerültek Burkina Fasóban.

Az észak-nyugat nigériai Katsina államban egy fegyveres csoport elrabolta nők egy legkevesebb 35 tagú csoportját, miközben ők hajnalban hazafelé tartottak – közölte hétfőn a helyi rendőrség szóvivője, hozzátéve, hogy keresik a támadókat és az elraboltakat.
Abubakar Aliyu elmondta, hogy a nők egyik barátőjüket kísérték haza az esküvője után péntekre virradóan egy faluban, amikor a fegyveresek csapdába ejtették és elrabolták őket. Nasiru Muaz, Katsina állam belbiztonsági felügyelője a szóvivőt úgy pontosította, hogy a helyszínelőktől érkezett hír szerint 53 embert hurcoltak el. A felügyelő kiemelte, hogy az ifjú feleséget hazakísérők nagy hibát követtek el, mert azon a vidéken nagyon aktívak a fegyveres banditák. Egyúttal arra kérte a környékbeli nyolc kerület lakosságát, hogy a hasonló esetek elkerülése végett tartózkodjanak az éjszakai közlekedéstől.
Nigériában az utóbbi időben rendszeressé váltak az emberrablások, amelyek közül ez volt a legjelentősebb; az ország középső- és északnyugati erdeiben bujkáló fegyveres bűnözők az autóutakon, a lakóövezetekben és az iskolák környékén egyaránt rabolnak el embereket, és csak váltságdíj ellenében hajlandók szabadon engedni őket.
Január elején a főváros, Abuja mellet raboltak el öt fiatal lányt, és közülük egyet megöltek, mert az általuk megadott határidőn belül nem kapták meg a követelt váltságdíjat. Az országos felháborodást kiváltó eset után két héttel szintén Katsina államban öltek meg két köztiszteletben álló, elrabolt helyi vezetőt; Kwara államban pedig szintén meggyilkoltak egy helyi vezetőt, a feleségét pedig elrabolták.
A tavaly májusban hatalomra került nigériai elnök, Bola Ahmed Tinubu beiktatását követően hadat üzent ugyan az ország északkeleti és középső részének közbiztonságát súlyosan fenyegető fegyveres bűnözőknek, dzsihadistáknak és az etnikai alapon szerveződő egyéb fegyveres csoportoknak, de a belbiztonsági szolgálat adatai szerint azóta 3964 új emberrablási ügyet regisztráltak.

A hivatal jelentése alapján az incidens csütörtök kora reggel történt az Omán és Irán közötti vizeken, a Perzsa-öböl szűk torkolatánál található, a világ ellátásához nélkülözhetetlen Hormuzi-szorosban, amelyen keresztül az olajkereskedelem ötödét bonyolítják le.
Az UKMTO-t az olajszállító biztonsági vezetője arról tájékoztatta, hogy a hajó kapitányával együtt „ismeretlen személyek hangját hallotta a telefonon”. A hivatal ezt követően nem tudta elérni a hajót.
„Hat fegyveres szállt fel a Saint Nikolas tartályhajóra, letakarták az összes térfigyelő kamerát” – közölte a hajózási biztonsággal foglalkozó Ambrey brit magáncég. A Saint Nikolas az incidensről eddig nem nyilatkozó Empire Navigation görög hajózási társaság hajója, amely szeptemberben 2,4 millió dolláros bírságot fizetett ki tízmillió hordónyi szankcionált iráni olaj szállítása miatt.
Az Egyesült Államok haditengerészetének Közel-Keleten aktív 5. flottája sem reagált azonnal az incidensre.

Hétfőn az afganisztáni tálib vezetéssel szövetségben álló, ám tőlük függetlenül tevékenykedő Tehrík-i-Talibán Pakisztán (TTP) nevű iszlamista terrorszervezet fegyveresei egy út szélén elhelyezett pokolgéppel hét rendőrt gyilkoltak meg. A tiszteket a járványos gyermekbénulás elleni oltási kampányt végző egészségügyi dolgozók védelmére rendeltek ki.
A régióban elkövetett erőszakos cselekmények hátterében a következő hónapban esedékes pakisztáni választások állnak, így félő, hogy a választások közeledtével tovább fokozódik az erőszak.

A szudáni kormányellenes Gyorsreagálású Támogató Erők (RSF) fegyveresei kifosztották az ENSZ Világélelmezési Programjának (WFP) raktárát a félkatonai szervezet által megszállt Gezira tartományban – jelentette be pénteken a nemzetközi szervezet.
A raktárból ellopott, gabonafélékből, hüvelyesekből és étolajból álló készlet a polgárháború sújtotta tartományban közel 1,5 millió ember ellátására lett volna elegendő egy hónapig – közölte a WFP.
A félkatonai erők ezenfelül 20 ezer alultáplált gyerek és szoptató édesanya számára előkészített speciális ellátmányt is elvittek.
„Kritikus segítségtől fosztották meg a harcok elől menekülő, már így is kétségbeesett szudániakat. Ez tűrhetetlen, ennek véget kell vetni” – írta csütörtök esti közleményében Michael Dunford, a WFP regionális igazgatója.
Az RSF irányítása alá került területeken a félkatonai szervezet kötelessége a humanitárius segítségnyújtás biztosítása – tette hozzá.
Az áprilisban kitört polgárháború óta a dárfúri milíciából kivált RSF-nek nemrég sikerült előretörnie Gezira államban, amelyet mezőgazdasági adottságai miatt az ország „kenyérforrásaként” emlegetnek.
Eddig több mint 7 millió szudáni kényszerült otthona elhagyására az Abdel Fattáh al-Burhán tábornok irányítása alatt álló hadsereg és a Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo tábornok vezette RSF közti fegyveres összetűzések miatt.

Fegyveresek hurcoltak el több tucat embert Nigéria északnyugati Zamfara államának két településéről – közölték vasárnap helyi vezetők és lakók.
A motorokon érkezett támadók nyolc emberrel végeztek. Egy helyi elöljáró szerint hatvan embert – többségében nőket és gyerekeket – hurcoltak el.
Helyi lakosok arról számoltak be, hogy a fegyveresek először a hadsereg egyik előretolt bázisát támadták meg a vidéki Magami községnél, de a katonák visszaverték őket. Mint mondták, a fegyveresek három csoportra osztották erőiket, az egyik csapat a bázist, a másik kettő Magami és a közeli Kabasa községet támadta, ahol a halálos áldozatok voltak és az emberrablások történtek.
Az elmúlt években fegyveres bandák helyi közösségek százaira támadtak rá Nigéria északnyugati részében. A bűnszervezetek gyakorta hurcolnak el embereket váltságdíj reményében.
