A WFP még a hét elején arról számolt be, hogy ismeretlen fegyveres csoport megtámadta a tartományi székhelyen, El Faserben lévő raktárját. Emiatt a helyi hatóságok kijárási tilalmat vezettek be a tartományban, de a fosztogatás folytatódott, sőt, a többszáz fegyveres a raktárépület szerkezeti elemeiből is sokat elvitt.
„Ezzel nem csak a szervezet működését és a segélyezendőket érte nagy kár az egész országban, hanem veszélybe kerültek az alkalmazottak is. Ha a WFP át is tudna szállítani élelmiszert Szudán más részeiből Észak-Dárfúrba, akkor a másutt élő, szintén segélyre szoruló lakosokat rövidítené meg” – vélekedett David Beasley, a A WFP ügyvezető igazgatója.
Szudán a világ egyik legszegényebb országa, jövőre csaknem 11 millió lakosa fog élelmiszer- és egyéb segélyre szorulni a WFP becslése szerint. A szervezet arra kéri a szudáni hatóságokat, hogy szerezzék vissza az ellopott élelmet és építési anyagokat, valamint gondoskodjanak a WFP biztonságos működéséről Észak-Dárfúrban.
A helyi hírügynökségek csütörtökön jelentették, hogy a hatóságok El Faserben őrizetbe vettek több embert, akit a fosztogatásban történt részvétellel gyanúsítanak. Közben az országban folytatódnak a rendszeres tüntetések a demokratikus átmenetet meghiúsító, október 25-i katonai puccs ellen. Egy orvosszervezet szerint csütörtökön ismét meghalt négy civil, többtucatnyian pedig megsebesültek, mert katonák tüntetőkre lőttek. Az egyik múlt szombati tüntetésen 235 ember sebesült meg a levegőbe leadott lövésektől, könnyfakasztó gránáttól és gumibotos ütlegeléstől – írja az MTI.

Ezután társával a sértettet átkutatták, elvették márkás karóráját, valamint nemesacél nyakláncát. Az órát a nyomozók egy munkásszálló szobájában találták meg.
A Tatabányai Járásbíróság az egyik férfit 2 év 2 hónap börtönbüntetésre, a másik elkövetőt 2 év 1 hónap börtönbüntetésre ítélte. Az ítélet a kihirdetését követően jogerőssé vált.

A város elegáns üzleti negyedében randalírozók ablakokat törtek be, üzleteket fosztottak ki és nekitámadtak a kivonuló rendőröknek. A helyi rendőrség vezetője, David Brown hangsúlyozta: „nem szervezett tüntetésről volt szó, ezek kifejezetten köztörvényes bűncselekmények voltak.” A rendőrségi vezető elmondta: a bűnözőkkel folytatott tűzharcban 13 rendőr sebesült meg, és biztonsági őrök, valamint járókelők is belekeveredtek a lövöldözésbe, közülük senki nem sebesült meg.
A rendőrség mintegy 400 rendőrt vezényelt ki a belvárosba, ahol – a közösségi médiában megjelent, ellentmondásos információkat követően – autókaraván igyekezett, és a gépkocsikból is lövéseket adtak le a rendőrökre.
Az Egyesült Államok több nagyvárosában az elmúlt hónapokban elharapódzott a bűnözés. A The Wall Street Journal című napilap a napokban terjedelmes elemzést közölt e városok közbiztonsági helyzetéről, és megállapította, hogy az idén meredeken emelkedett a gyilkosságok száma: az 50 legnagyobb városban 24 százalékkal nőtt a gyilkosságok aránya, és jelentősen nőtt a fegyveres bűncselekmények száma is.
