Egy nap alatt 117 milliméter eső – több mint egyhavi átlag – hullott le. A tavaszi hóolvadás megfékezésére épített gát nem bírta a terhelést.
Csaknem ezer embert kellett evakuálni. 32 falut teljesen elzárt a víz, szárazföldön megközelíthetetlenek.

A Kahovkai Vízerőmű felrobbantása következtében Nova Kahovkában a Kazkova Dibrova rekreációs komplexum állatkertjét elöntötte a víz. Csaknem 300 állat pusztult el, számoltak be az állatkert munkatársai.
Elmondásuk szerint, az állatokat blokkolták a parkban:
„A parkot aláaknázták, az utakat lezárták, nem lehetett evakuálni az állatokat. Körülbelül 300 állat pusztult el, amelyeket a lakosaink ismertek és szerettek. Anfisza és Charlie majmok, Malis, a póni, Oszja a szamár, Miska, Ljolja, és Dinka mosómedvék, Venya, a papagáj, Roma, a varjú, mormoták, kameruni kecskék, birkák, papagájok, tengerimalacok, görények és sok más kis kedvencünk. Csak néhány hattyú és kacsa maradt életben. Meghalt egy kis hattyúfióka is, aki mindössze 5 napja született.” Már reggel 6-kor, amikor az állatkert dolgozói a helyszínre értek, mindent elöntött a víz.
Az állatkert azon dolgozói, akik maradtak, az elmúlt 1 év alatt az állatok megmentésével foglalkoztak. A Kazkova Dibrova túlélte a telet áram és fűtés nélkül:
„Egy évvel ezelőtt pénzt gyűjtöttünk, takarmányt vásároljunk egy évre. Gazdák, vállalkozók segítettek, és sokan hoztak zöldséget és folyósítottak pénzt az állatok megsegítésére. Valentina az összes melegkedvelő állatot (több mint 60-at) hazavitt. Minden állat túlélte a telet, tavasszal visszatértek a Dibrovába. Két alkalmazottunk az életét kockáztatta, golyózápor kíséretében nap, mint nap járt be dolgozni, hogy etesse és gondozza az állatokat. Köszönet és hála Valentinának és Vovának! Mindent megtettünk, hogy megmentsük az állatok életét, még egy ilyen szörnyű helyzetben is. Ma pedig Kazkova Dibrovát, Nova Kahovka lakóinak és vendégeinek kedvenc rekreációs központját elpusztították a megszállók. Ez szörnyű, szörnyű fájdalom.”

Két gát is átszakadt vasárnap Brazília északkeleti részén, a hatalmas mennyiségű víz a 22 ezres lakosságú Itambét fenygetei – írja az CTVNews. A november óta tartó esőzések miatt eddig tizennyolc ember halt meg, 16 ezer ember vált hajléktalanná, és további ezreket kellett evakuálni.
A gátszakadás egy olyan régióban történt, amit eddig is heves esőzések sújtottak, és több ezer embernek kellett elhagynia az otthonát. A mostani eset Jussiape és Itambe városokat érinti, a települések vezetői felszólították a lakoságot, hogy keressenek biztonságos helyet.
A november eleje óta tartó heves esőzések és az azt követő áradások ötven várost érintenek, 18 ember meghalt, és több mint 16 000 ember vált hajléktalanná. Csaknem húszezer embert kitelepítettek – írja az AP.
Bahia állam kormányzója azt nyilatkozta, próbálják kimenteni az embereket, akik házai tetején kerestek menedéket az ár elől. A rászorulóknak élelmiszert, matracokat és meleg ruhát osztanak.

Beszakadt két gát a Kína északi részén fekvő Belső-Mongólia Autonóm Területen a súlyos esőzésektől – közölte hétfőn a pekingi katasztrófavédelmi minisztérium.
A Hulunbuir város közigazgatási területén található gátak vasárnap szakadtak be a hirtelen lezúduló, nagy mennyiségű eső hatására. A vidéken az átlagos csapadékmennyiség vasárnap elérte a 87 millimétert. A folyó felsőbb szakaszán található gát beszakadását követően az alsóbb szakaszon lévő gát alig másfél óra múlva omlott be.
Az árvízvédelmi hatóságok már szombattól kezdődően figyelmeztetést adtak ki a viharos esőzések miatt, amelyek vasárnaptól Kína északkeleti részén tomboltak, elérve a fővárost, Pekinget is.
A Hulunbuir környékén élőket – több mint 16 ezer embert – még a gátszakadást megelőzően evakuálták, sérülteket nem jelentettek.
A kínai vízi erőforrások minisztériumának hétfői közleménye szerint a két gát víztározójának kapacitása együttesen eléri a 46 millió köbmétert. A helyi hatóságok szerint a gátak beszakadása nyomán a környéket elöntő árvíz csaknem 216 négyzetkilométernyi termőföldet, továbbá utakat és hidakat tett tönkre. A károk felmérése és az árvízelhárítási munkálatok jelenleg is zajlanak.

Az elmúlt napok esőzései nyomán csaknem az egész Romániában áradnak a folyók. A Bánságban a legsúlyosabb a helyzet, ahol pénteken töltéseket, gátakat szakított át a Temes.
Az Országos Vízügyi és Vízgazdálkodási Intézet (INHGA) pénteken csaknem valamennyi erdélyi folyóra másodfokú (narancssárga) figyelmeztetést bocsátott ki, mely vasárnap délutánig érvényes. Bánságban, a Bisztra és a Temes folyókon a figyelmeztetés harmadfokú (vörös jelzésű).
Pénteken a Temes vízszintje a 2005-ben jegyzett történelmi csúcs fölé emelkedett, és Lugos város alatt meghaladta a baloldali árvízvédelmi gát töltéskoronájának szintjét. A töltés fölött a mezőre ömlő víz három óra alatt elmosta a gátat, mely két helyen is átszakadt.
Pénteken délután Marcel Vela belügyminiszter is a helyszínen tájékozódott a helyzetről. Közölte, hogy a gátszakadás nem sodort veszélybe településeket, csupán mezőgazdasági területeket árasztott el a víz. A tárcavezető a helyi vízügyi vezetőket tette felelőssé a történtek miatt, akik, szerinte nem végezték el az elmúlt években a szükséges árvízévdelmi munkálatokat. Marcel Vela azt is megemlítette, hogy csütörtökön a Krassó-Szörény megyei Nándorhegy (Otelul Rosu) közelében helikopterrel kellett húsz személyt kimenteni a Bisztra folyó által elárasztott területről.
A katasztrófavédelmi főfelügyelőség péntek reggeli jelentése szerint az ország 16 megyéje 58 településén okoztak károkat az árvizek. A tűzoltóknak 73 pincéből, 25 házból, 346 udvarról kellett kiszivattyúzniuk a vizet.
Az országos meteorológiai szolgálat pénteken is másodfokú (narancs színű) figyelmeztetést bocsátott ki csaknem az egész ország területére. A figyelmeztetés szerint szombat hajnalig további heves esőzések várhatók, melyek során négyzetméterenként 40 liter, de helyenként akár 60-80 liter csapadék is várható.

A heves esők hatására átszakadt a Tittabawassee folyó két gátja Edenville és Sanford városoknál, árvíz várható, ezért az amerikai állam Midland megyéjében Gretchen Whitmer michigani kormányzó rendkívüli állapotot hirdetett ki kedden este.
Edenville és Sanford a Sanford-tó északi, illetve déli végén található, a tó a folyó felduzzadása.
A hatóságok felszólították az érintett települések lakóit: készüljenek fel arra, hogy el kell hagyniuk otthonukat. A kormányzó közölte sajtóértekezletén, hogy szerdán három méter magas víz alá kerülhet Midland városának centruma. Midland szintén a Tittabawassee mentén, lejjebb fekszik.
Eddig 3500 házra – mintegy 10 ezer lakosra – vonatkozik az evakuálási utasítás. Emberéletben eddig nem esett kár.
A Tittabawassee mellett a Rifle folyó is megáradt Midlandben, Sterling város mellett az esők hatására – közölte a meteorológiai szolgálat.
