Az orosz hatóságok egyebek között azzal vádolják az internetes szolgáltatókat, hogy nem távolítják el következetesen a hatóságilag nem engedélyezett tüntetésekkel kapcsolatos felhívásokat, valamint a gyermekpornográfiát tartalmazó bejegyzéseket.
Jogvédők viszont azt vetik a hatóságok szemére, hogy így akarják elnyomni a szabad internetet Oroszországban.

A Gazdasági Versenyhivatal közleménye szerint az Európai Törvényszék helybenhagyta az Európai Bizottság a Google-re kiszabott, 2,42 milliárd eurós versenyfelügyeleti bírságát, egyúttal kimondta azt is: a cég visszaélt erőfölényével.
Az Európai Bizottság 2017 nyarán rótta ki a bírságot a Google-re; a vállalat jogorvoslattal élt a határozattal szemben, amelyet most elutasítottak. A feltárt jogsértés az Európai Gazdasági Térség 13 országát érintette, Magyarország nem volt köztük. Az amerikai cégnél folytatott vizsgálat feltárta, hogy a termékkeresések eredményei figyelemfelkeltőbb módon jelentek meg az oldalon, ha a Google saját szolgáltatásából származtak. A vállalat tehát jogsértő módon biztosított előnyt saját árösszehasonlító szolgáltatásának a versenytársakéval szemben. A cég ezzel akadályozta a fogyasztókért folyó valódi versenyt az árösszehasonlító szolgáltatások között.
A GVH megjegyezte, hogy a döntés megerősítőleg hathat a hazai versenyhatósági vizsgálatokra is. A magyar versenyhatóság jelenleg hasonló vizsgálatot folytat annak feltárására, hogy a Google keresőjében dalcímekre megjelenő dalszövegkártya alkalmazásával a kaliforniai cég versenyjogot sértő módon részesíti-e előnyben saját szolgáltatását.
A magyar versenyhatóság az Európai Bizottsághoz hasonlóan különös figyelmet fordít a jelentős számú fogyasztó és vállalkozás érdekeit befolyásoló, nagy technológiai vállalkozások magatartásainak vizsgálatára. A GVH a Google számára korábban már írt elő kötelezettségeket az Allo chatkliens kapcsán, és jelenleg is vizsgálja a Rakuten-csoportba tartozó Viber, illetve a ByteDance által üzemeltetett TikTok magatartását – emlékeztettek a közleményben.

Az utóbbi hónapokban ismételten elmarasztaltak külföldi technocégeket, közöttük a Facebookot, a Twittert és a TikTokot. Az orosz hatóságok egyebek között azzal vádolják az internetes szolgáltatókat, hogy nem távolítják el következetesen a hatóságilag nem engedélyezett tüntetésekkel kapcsolatos felhívásokat, valamint a gyermekpornográfiát tartalmazó bejegyzéseket.
Jogvédők viszont azt vetik a hatóságok szemére, hogy így akarják elnyomni a szabad internetet Oroszországban.
Novemberrel bezárólag hivatalos információk szerint összességében több mint 180 millió rubel bírságot vetettek ki az orosz hatóságok. Egy törvényszéki szóvivőre hivatkozva az orosz sajtó még szeptemberben arról számolt be, hogy a vállalatok nagy része nem fizette ki a bírságokat.

Tizennégymillió rubel (190 000 dollár) bírsággal sújtotta a Google amerikai informatikai nagyvállalatot kedden egy moszkvai bíróság, mert a cég nem távolított el általuk tiltottnak talált tartalmakat.
A bíróság azt közölte, hogy öt közigazgatási szabálysértésben találták vétkesnek a Google vállalatot.
Ez nem az első alkalom, hogy megbírságolták az informatikai céget Oroszországban. Nemrég három közigazgatási szabálysértés miatt 9,5 millió rubel bírságot állapított meg az illetékes bíróság szintén azért, mert a vállalat elmulasztott az orosz jogszabályok által tiltott tartalmakat törölni. További hárommillió rubel büntetést pedig amiatt szabtak ki, hogy nem tett eleget a felhasználói adatbázisok oroszországi lokalizálására vonatkozó követelménynek.
A nagyvállalatra eddig összesen 26,5 millió rubel bírságot róttak ki.
Az orosz tömegtájékoztatási és távközlési felügyelet (Roszkomnadzor) korábban közölte, hogy a Google tulajdonában lévő YouTube videómegosztó oldalról nem távolítottak el nagyjából ötezer kifogásolt felvételt, amelyek a többi között a koronavírussal kapcsolatos hamis információkat tartalmaztak. A Roszkomnadzor szerint a YouTube üzemeltetői a felhívások ellenére sem tettek eleget ezen tartalmak törlésének.

Nyolcvan főt menesztett a Google, miután kiderült, hogy a dolgozók visszaéltek a felhasználók személyes adataival, sőt még házon kívülre is kiszivárogtatták az információkat – írja a Business Insider egy vállalati dokumentumra hivatkozva, amely szintén napvilágra került. A feljegyzések szerint az incidensek főként 2018 és 2020 között történtek.
Az érintett munkavállalók pénzügyi értékesítés és egyéb személyes előnyszerzés céljából, jogtalanul használták fel mások adatait.
A technológiai óriás 2018-ban tizennyolc, 2019-ben huszonhat és 2020-ban harminchat alkalmazottat bocsátott el az adatvédelmi szabályok megsértése miatt. A tavalyi eltanácsolások indoklásának 86 százalékának hátterében a bizalmas információkkal való visszaélés és a belső hírek külső feleknek történő továbbítása állt.
A kollégák tíz százaléka odáig merészkedett, hogy még a vállalati rendszerekhez és a szoftverekhez is hozzányúlt.
Lebukásuk során kiderült, hogy illetéktelen személyeknek nyújtottak hozzáférést a felhasználók, illetve a vállalat más dolgozóinak az adataihoz, sőt még azok módosításában és törlésében is közreműködtek. A következő évben már 13 százalékra emelkedett ez az arány.
Jose Castaneda, a Google szóvivője megerősítette az értesülést. Dolgoznak a problémán: a véletlen hibákat céges felkészítő kurzusokkal és évenkénti továbbképzésekkel igyekeznek kiküszöbölni, ám ezekből van kevesebb, a szándékos visszaéléseket többlépcsős felülvizsgálati és engedélyezési folyamattal szorítanák vissza – nyilatkozta.
Az eljárás nem ért véget a menesztésekkel, alaposan kivizsgálják a kompromittáló eseteket és megteszik a szükséges jogi lépéseket.
Nem ez volt az első botrány a Google háza táján, az adatvédelmi nyomozások folyamatos célkeresztjében vannak, pedig épp most nyitna a cég a felhasználók felé, akiknek nagyobb betekintést engedne a technikai folyamatokba.
A cikk felidézi David Barksdale, a vállalat egykori mérnökének és egyben kiemelt szakértőjének az ügyét, aki kedvtelésből tinédzserek névjegyzékeibe és chates beszélgetéseibe nézett bele, megsértve ezzel a magánéleti szférájukat.
A csúf igazság – A Facebook harca az uralomért című, idén júniusban megjelent könyv is hasonló történeteket ecsetel, az egyik fejlesztő például a helymeghatározás funkcióval élt vissza, hogy kövessen valakit. A kötet szerint csupán egy év leforgása alatt 52 személyt küldtek el a Facebooktól a helytelen adatkezelés miatt.

Az Európai Bizottság ma vizsgálatot indított a Google ellen annak kiderítése céljából, hogy a tech-óriás előnyben részesítette-e saját online hirdetési szolgáltatásait, és ezzel megsértette-e a trösztellenes szabályokat.
Margrethe Vestager, az Európai Bizottság ügyvezető alelnöke közleményében úgy fogalmazott, hogy „a Google célzott hirdetési célokra felhasználható adatokat gyűjt, hirdetési felületeket értékesít, és online reklámközvetítőként is tevékenykedik. A Google tehát az online display hirdetések ellátási láncának szinte minden szintjén jelen van. Aggódunk amiatt, hogy a Google megnehezítette a rivális online hirdetési szolgáltatások helyzetét”.
A vizsgálat részeként a bizottság értékelni fogja, hogy a Google milyen korlátozásokat vezetett be a hirdetők, kiadók és egyéb harmadik felek azon lehetőségeire vonatkozóan, hogy hozzáférjenek a felhasználók személyazonosságára és viselkedésére vonatkozó adatokhoz.
A Google egy szóvivője e-mailben a következőképpen reagált: „Európai vállalkozások ezrei használják hirdetési termékeinket új ügyfelek elérésére és weboldaluk finanszírozására minden egyes nap. Azért választják a termékeinket, mert versenyképesek és hatékonyak. Továbbra is konstruktívan együttműködünk az Európai Bizottsággal, hogy megválaszoljuk kérdéseiket, és bemutassuk termékeink előnyeit az európai vállalkozások és fogyasztók számára”.
A bejelentés a Google hirdetési szférában tanúsított magatartásának teljes körű vizsgálatának hivatalos kezdetét jelenti, amelynek befejezésére egyelőre nincs kitűzött határidő.

Egy ausztrál bíróság jogellenesnek ítélte a Google Android-felhasználókat érintő helymeghatározási adatkezelését. A bíróság szerint 2017 januárja és 2018 decembere közt az internetes óriásvállalat félrevezette a felhasználókat.
Az indoklás szerint a felhasználók azt hitték, hogy amikor Android készülékükön beállítják a Google-fiókot, a helyelőzményekre vonatkozó rész az egyetlen beállítás, amely kiadja a Google-nak a helyadataikat, de a fiókhoz egy másik, az adatokat automatikusan eltároló, alapértelmezésben bekapcsolt applikáció is tartozik, amelyet a felhasználóknak ki kellett volna kapcsolniuk.
A pénteki határozat a Google-t már 2019 októbere óta perlő ausztrál fogyasztóvédelmi hatóságok részleges győzelmét jelenti. A hatóság a döntést fontos győzelemnek nevezte mindazok számára, akiknek fontos az adatvédelem.
A Google részéről azt közölték, a bíróság részben nekik adott igazat, az ítélet elmarasztaló részével azonban nem értenek egyet, és fontolgatják a fellebbezést, valamint hangsúlyozták, hogy a cég mindig is nagy figyelmet fordított a helyadatok felügyeletére, és folyamatosan arra törekszik, hogy többet tegyen ennek érdekében.
Egy canberrai technikai elemzőközpont szerint az ügy a nagyvállalatok általános szerződési feltételeinek átláthatatlanságára világít rá.
„Az emberek nagy részének alig van fogalma arról, mennyi adatukat használja fel a Google és a többi online felület” – áll az intézet igazgatója, Peter Lewis által jegyzett közleményben, amelyben arra is felhívják a figyelmet, hogy a legtöbb általános szerződési feltétel elolvasása körülbelül 74 percet vesz igénybe, az értelmezése pedig felsőfokú végzettséget igényel.
A közleményben leszögezték: átfogóbb fogyasztóvédelemre van szükség.

A francia hatóságok 1,3 millió dollár megfizetésére kötelezték a Google-t, mert bizonyítottnak találták, hogy a cég keresőmotorja megtévesztően jelenítette meg a franciaországi szálláshelyek minősítését.
A Twitteren azt közölték a francia hatóságok, hogy a Google korrigálta gyakorlatát, és a párizsi ügyész döntése után megállapodás született a céggel az 1,1 millió eurónyi bírság befizetéséről.
Korábban a Google az Atout France adatait használta forrásként a hotelek minősítésének megjelenítéséhez, 1-től 5 csillagig rangsorolva. Egyre több szállásadó fordult a francia hatóságokhoz, kifogásolva a szerintük nem valós minősítéseket.
2019 és 2020 között 7500 esetet vizsgált a francia kormány csalások elleni hivatala, és az ügyeket összesítve született a büntetésről szóló megegyezés a Google-lel.
