A haiti fővárosban, Port-au-Prince-ben kiürítettek egy kórházat a bandaháborúk miatt.
Az intézmény igazgatója szerint több mint 100 beteget kellett elszállítani a Fontaine Kórházi Központból. Az áthelyezett betegek között gyermekek is voltak.
A kórház Cite Soleil nagy nyomornegyedében található, ahol az elmúlt napokban zavargások voltak egy bandavezér halálát követően.
A kórházigazgató úgy fogalmazott: a bandaháború a kórház környékén zajlik. A kórház körüli házakat felgyújtották, így sokan menekülésre kényszerültek. Volt, aki a hatóságok segítségét kérte ehhez, köztük egy nő, aki egy nappal korábban császármetszéssel szült. A kórház vezetője azt mondta: „Mindenkit sikerült biztonságba helyeznünk.”
A bandaháború után nagyon gyorsan történt minden, néhány óra alatt került veszélybe a kórház. A befolyásos bandavezért, Iskar Andrice-t megölték Cite Soleilben, ezután kezdődtek a zavargások és az erőszakos cselekmények.
Haitiben egyre több problémát okoznak a törvénytelenségek. A bandák egyre inkább átvették az irányítást Port-au-Prince-ben azóta, hogy az ország elnökének 2021-es meggyilkolása politikai válságba sodorta az országot.
Az ENSZ legfrissebb adatai szerint több ezer haiti lakos menekült el otthonából, több mint 2400-an pedig meghaltak.
Kenya közölte, hogy 1000 rendőrt küld Haitire, hogy segítsen helyreállítani a rendet. Ezt a lépést az ENSZ is támogatta.

Az ENSZ Gyermekalapjának (UNICEF) jelentése szerint tavaly óta Haitin 30 százalékkal nőtt az életveszélyesen alultáplált gyerekek száma, csaknem minden negyedik krónikus alultápláltságban szenved.
Az UNICEF arról is beszámolt, hogy a gyerekek élete azért is veszélyben forog, mert fegyveres csoportok terrorizálják a lakosságot, különösen a fővárosban, Port-au-Prince-ben és a szomszédos Artibonite régióban.
A váltságdíjért történő emberrablások, diákok, tanárok és egészségügyi dolgozók elhurcolása, valamint az iskolák elleni támadások száma ugrásszerűen megnőtt. Az erőszak miatt tízezreknek kellett elhagyniuk lakóhelyüket.
A közlemény szerint Haitin az erőszak, az éhezés és a betegségek mellett a heves viharok és földrengések is fenyegetik a lakosságot.
Az UNICEF hangsúlyozta, hogy fokozza tevékenységét és növeli stábját Haitin, ugyanakkor rámutatott, hogy miközben tevékenységéhez 246 millió dollárra lenne szükség, ennek idén még kevesebb mint 15 százaléka áll rendelkezésére.

Legkevesebb 15 ember életét vesztette és további 8 eltűnt, miután a heves esőzések a hétvégén Haiti-szerte áradásokat és földcsuszamlásokat okoztak – közölték a helyi hatóságok vasárnap.
Közel 13 400 embert kellett evakuálni, mivel a víz országszerte több száz házat pusztított el – közölte a haiti polgári védelmi ügynökség.
Haiti központi régiójában az esőzések jelentős károkat okoztak a termésben is. Ráadásul ez egy olyan időszakban történt, amikor éhínség is sújtja az országot.
Haiti miniszterelnöke szerint az árvízkárosultakat a helyi és nemzetközi szervezetekkel együttműködve igyekeznek ellátni.

Ismét terjed a kolera Haitin. A betegség október eleje óta már 16 ember halálát okozta. Jelenleg 32 esetben biztos, másik 224 embernél pedig gyanítható, hogy kolerás megbetegedésről van szó.
A járvány Port-au-Prince egyik szegénynegyedében ütötte fel a fejét, de az ENSZ arra figyelmeztet, hogy a fővároson túl is terjed.
„A hozzáférési és logisztikai kihívások ellenére az ENSZ humanitárius partnereivel egyetemben támogatja Haitit a kolera elleni küzdelemben. A fővárosban és környékén 43 intézményben kezelik a kolerás betegeket. Sürgősen kérjük a nemzetközi közösség támogatását a kolerajárvány és az ország többi humanitárius szükségleteinek kezeléséhez” – közölte Stéphane Dujarric, az ENSZ-főtitkár szóvivője.
A kolera rendkívül gyorsan terjed, főleg úgy, hogy sem elegendő tiszta víz, sem normális orvosi ellátás nem áll rendelkezésre. Az egészségügyi tisztviselők pedig arra figyelmeztetnek, hogy a helyzet a szűkös életkörülmények miatt még tovább romolhat.
A karibi szigetországban 10 évvel ezelőtt tízezren haltak bele a betegségbe.

Három év után újra kolera miatti halálozást jelentett Haiti, eddig legkevesebb nyolc halálos áldozata van a betegségnek a kormány szerint.
A kór gyorsan terjedhet, ami aggodalomra ad okot, különösen az egy évtizede csaknem tízezer ember halálát okozó járvány emlékét felidézve – közölte helyi idő szerint vasárnap Laure Adrien, az ország egészségügyi minisztere.
A halálozásokat a főváros, Port-au-Prince Dekayet városrészéből, valamint a bandaháború dúlta Cité de Soleil nyomornegyedéből jelentették, ahol több ezren élnek összezsúfolva, egészségtelen körülmények között.
A kolerabaktériummal szennyezett víz vagy étel súlyos hasmenést és kiszáradást okozhat, mely halálos lehet.
Az ENSZ közleménye szerint a haiti kormánnyal együtt azon dolgoznak, hogy a járvány esetleges kitörésére „sürgősségi választ adhassanak”. Hangsúlyozta, hogy garantálni kell a biztonságos bejutást az egészségügyi személyzetnek azokra a területekre, ahonnan az eseteket jelentették.
Az üzemanyaghiány és a régóta tartó tüntetések miatt országszerte megszűntek az alapvető szolgáltatások, köztük az orvosi ellátás és az ivóvíz-szolgáltatás, melyek a kolera megfékezésében és a betegek megmentésében kulcsfontosságúak.
Amint arról október 1-jén beszámoltunk, az Egészségügyi Világszervezet (WHO) közlése szerint 26 országból jelentettek járványkitöréseket.

Agyonlőttek két újságírót Haitin, akik az erőszakról tudósítottak a főváros, Port-au-Prince egyik bandák kezére jutott nyomornegyedéből, holttesteiket pedig felgyújtották – közölte kedden a helyi Független Újságírók Szövetsége, hozzátéve, hogy idén ez már a második ilyen eset.
A tájékoztatás szerint Tayson Latigue és Frantzsen Charles egy hétfős újságírói csoporttal volt, amikor tűz alá vették őket vasárnap a Cité Soleil nevű kerületben, ahol éppen az erőszakhullám súlyosbodását – többek között egy 17 éves lány nemrég történt meggyilkolásának körülményeit – vizsgálták.
Dieudonne St-Cyr, az újságírószövetség egyik tagja a Metropole Haiti helyi rádiónak elmondta, hogy az újságírók két rivális banda kereszttüzébe kerültek. Hozzátette, hogy társaik sértetlenül el tudtak menekülni, de a két áldozat holttestét nem tudták visszaszerezni.
Az újságírószövetség utálatos, hitvány cselekedetnek nyilvánította a történteket, és követelte, hogy a kormány javítson az egyre romló biztonsági helyzeten az egyre gyakoribbá váló gyilkosságok és emberrablások közepette. Leszögezte egyben, hogy az újságírók csak a munkájukat végezték, és nem követtek el semmiféle bűncselekményt.
A szervezet hangsúlyozta, hogy „a gyilkosságok újabb bizonyítékai annak, hogy az állam képtelen megvédeni az életeket és a magántulajdont, ami nem más, mint az emberi jogok megsértése”.
Ariel Henry miniszterelnök szintén elítélte a „barbár” gyilkosságokat, amelyek mélységesen megdöbbentették – fogalmazott.
Januárban két újságírót öltek meg bandák, akik a déli – szintén problémás – Laboule negyedből tudósítottak.
Haitin valóságos bandaháborúk dúlnak, számos térség pedig már kikerült a központi kormány ellenőrzése alól. Az erőszakhullám emberek százainak életét követelte, és ezrek voltak kénytelen elmenekülni otthonaikból. A bandák azt követően erősödtek meg, hogy Jovenel Moise elnök merénylet áldozata lett 2021 júliusában.

Egy török bíróság elutasította a haiti elnök meggyilkolásának ügyében gyanúsított Samir Handal kiadását hétfőn, és úgy döntött, szabadon engedi a férfit.
Jovenel Moïse haiti elnököt 2021 júliusában lőtték agyon magánrezidenciáján. A támadásban felesége is megsebesült. A merénylet elkövetésével kolumbiai zsoldosokat gyanúsítottak meg, bár eddig senkit sem ítéltek el az üggyel kapcsolatban.
Handal ellen az Interpol korábban körözést adott ki. A férfit tavaly novemberben vették őrizetbe, amikor az Egyesült Államokból Jordániába tartva átszállt Törökországban. Handal jordániai állampolgár.
Az üzletember ügyvédeinek kérésére az Interpol már visszavonta a körözést. A férfi azt állította, hogy nincs köze Moïse meggyilkolásához. Handal azért került a hatóságok célkeresztjébe, mert ismerte Emmanuel Sanont, a merénylet feltételezett kitervelőjét. Ügyvédei azt állították, hogy védencük csupán egy irodát adott ki Sanonnak, de nem tudott a terveiről. A haiti rendőrség korábbi jelentése szerint Handal politikai jellegű gyűléseket tartott port-au-prince-i otthonában, amelyeken Sanon is részt vett.
A férfit nyolc hónapon át tartották fogva egy ankarai börtönben. Végig következetesen tagadta, hogy köze lett volna a haiti elnök meggyilkolásához. Az állította, hogy a rádióból és a közösségi oldalakról értesült a merényletről.
Handal ügyvédei azzal érveltek, hogy a férfit nem szabad kiadni Haitinek, mert ott kényszermunka, kínzás, sőt halál fenyegeti. Emellett rámutattak: az ország politikai helyzete bizonytalan. Haiti levelet írt a török hatóságoknak, amelyben megígérte, hogy nem vár kényszermunka az üzletemberre – írja az MTI.
