A helikopter egy, NATO-gyakorlaton részt vevő kanadai hadihajóról szállt fel, a kutatási-mentések műveletek jelenleg is zajlanak. A tájékoztatás szerint a Sikorsky CH-148 Cyclone típusú helikopter elvesztette a kapcsolatot a Fredericton nevű fregattal.
További részleteket nem közöltek, az olasz sajtó értesülései szerint azonban a helikopter a görög Kefalónia szigettől mintegy 80 kilométerre tűnt el, a keresőegységek pedig eddig egy holttestet találtak, írja az MTI.
