Rakétatalálat ért kedden egy máltai lobogó alatt közlekedő teherhajót, miközben észak felé tartott a Vörös-tengeren, és 76 tengeri mérföldre északnyugatra járt a jemeni Szalif kikötőjétől – közölte az Ambrey nevű, hajózási biztonsággal foglalkozó brit vállalat és a görög hajózási minisztérium.
A görög tulajdonban lévő, Zografia nevű hajó Vietnamból Izraelbe tartott 24 fős legénységével, amikor megtámadták, de a görög hajózási minisztériumból származó tájékoztatás szerint személyi sérülés nem történt, rakomány pedig nincs a hajón. A jármű tudta folytatni az útját.
„Sérültek nincsenek, csak anyagi kár keletkezett” – közölte a görög minisztériumi forrás.
Az Ambrey vállalat egy tanácsadói közleményben számolt be a rakétatámadásról.
A nemzetközi tengeri kereskedelemben kommunikációs szerepet vállaló brit kormányhivatal (UKMTO) pedig arról számolt be, hogy jelentést kapott egy incidensről, amely körülbelül száz tengeri mérföldre történt Szaliftól északnyugatra.
Egy amerikai teherhajót is találat ért hétfőn a jemeni partok közelében, abban a járműben kisebb kár keletkezett, de személyi sérülés ott sem történt – írja a BBC.
Az Irán által támogatott jemeni húszi lázadó csoport azzal fenyegetőzött, hogy kiterjeszti a Vörös-tengeri támadásainak körét, válaszul Izrael Gázai hadműveletére, beleértve az Egyesült Államok hajóit is, amiért az amerikai és a brit légierő jemeni célpontokat bombázott az elmúlt napokban.

Noha a tűz ereje csökken, az egyre közelebb kerül a hajó üzemanyagtartályához, ám közben közeledik annak a lehetősége is, hogy a tűzoltók és technikusok képesek legyenek a fedélzetre érkezni. Ez megteremtheti annak a lehetőségét is, hogy felkészítsék a hajót, hogy azt Európába vagy a Bahamákra vontassák.
A hajó által szállított márkákat birtokló Volkswagen egyelőre nem közölte, hogy mennyi autó volt a fedélzeten.

A dán zászló alatt hajózó Mumbai Maersk a hollandiai Rotterdamból tartott a németországi kikötővárosba, Bremenhavenbe, amikor szerda éjjel zátonyra futott. A hatóságok vizsgálatot indítottak annak érdekében, hogy kiderítsék, mi okozta a balesetet.
