Már hárman életüket vesztették és csaknem 35 ezer embert evakuálni kellett az elmúlt napokban a Malajzia déli részét sújtó heves esőzések és áradások miatt – közölték a helyi hatóságok pénteken.
A legjobban érintett tartomány a Malajzia déli részén fekvő Johor, ahol a helyi katasztrófavédelmi ügynökség legfrissebb közlése szerint csaknem 32 ezer lakost menekítettek ki. A hatóságok 200-nál is több ideiglenes menedékhelyet nyitottak meg a rászorulók előtt.
A három halálos áldozatról is Johorban számoltak be. Csütörtökön egy nyugdíjas házaspárra vízzel elárasztott otthonukban találtak élettelen állapotban, előző nap pedig egy munkába igyekvő férfi kocsiját sodorta magával a víz – közölte a rendőrség a Bernama maláj hírügynökséggel.
Az áradások miatt további háromezer ember evakuálása vált szükségessé Pahang, Melaka és Negeri Sembilan tartományában, valamint a Borneó szigetén fekvő Sarawak tartományában. A meteorológiai szolgálat előrejelzése szerint a következő napokban újabb esőzések várhatóak Johorban és Pahang egyes részein.
Malajziában két esős évszak van: az egyiket a délnyugati monszun okozza májustól-szeptemberig, a másikat az északkeleti monszun októbertől-márciusig.

A fővárostól, Kuala Lumpurtól északra hajnali három óra környékén történt a földcsuszamlás, s bár 59 embert kimentettek, legkevesebb 12 ember életét vesztette, további 22 ember pedig eltűnt.
Korábban beszámoltunk arról, hogy az első jelentések szerint kilenc ember meghalt, huszonötöt még keresnek a földcsuszamlás után, mely a maláj főváros, Kuala Lumpur közelében, egy biogazdaság kempingjében történt pénteken.
A Guardian számolt be arról, hogy a helyi hatóságok jelentése szerint a fővárostól, Kuala Lumpurtól északra egy kempingben történt földcsuszamlás, melynek következtében legkevesebb 12 ember életét vesztette, a keresőcsapatok pedig azonnal a helyszínre siettek a mentőkkel együtt; a sárban és a kidőlt fák között pedig jelenleg is 22 embert keresnek.
A hatóságok közlése szerint a halálos áldozatok között volt egy gyermek és egy nő is, míg a kórházba szállított sérültek között volt egy állapotos nő is. Sokan csak könnyebben sérültek meg, ám egy ember súlyosan megsérült, akit gerincsérülés gyanújával szállítottak kórházba.
A földcsuszamlás több mint 90 embert érintett: hajnal 3 óra környékén történt a katasztrófa, miután egy hegyoldalról elindult lefelé a hatalmas sártömeg, egyenesen a kemping területére. A helyi mentőszolgálat közlése szerint 59 embert sikerült kimenteni, ám 12 ember életét vesztette, további 22 embert pedig még mindig eltűntként tartanak nyilván.
A tűzoltóság és a mentőszolgálat közlése szerint a Selengor államban történt földcsuszamlás mintegy 30 méteres magasságból indult el, s mintegy fél hektárnyi területet borított be. A közösségi médiában azóta több fotó és videó is megjelent a helyszínről, melyeken látszik, hogy milyen hihetetlen pusztítást okozott a természeti katasztrófa:

Malajzia hét államát sújtották áradások vasárnap, több ezer embert evakuáltak – tájékoztatott a helyi katasztrófavédelem. Bár az ország keleti partvidékén az október és március közötti monszunszezonban gyakoriak az áradások, de ezúttal a december 17-én kezdődött szokatlanul heves esőzések ezreket kényszerítettek lakóhelyük elhagyására.
Több államban – Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Johor, Malacca, Negeri Sembilan és Sabah államokban – összesen 8727 embert 128 segélyközpontban helyeztek el. Országszerte eddig 125 490 embert érintettek az áradások.
Malajzia keleti partvidékén az október és március közötti monszunszezonban gyakoriak az áradások, de ezúttal a december 17-én kezdődött szokatlanul heves esőzések is ezreket kényszerítettek lakóhelyük elhagyására. Rendőrségi közlemény szerint ötven ember halt meg az áradásokban, kettőt pedig eltűntként tartanak nyilván.
A meteorológiai szolgálat a folyamatos, heves esőzések veszélyére hívta fel a figyelmet, egyben katasztrófavédelmi készültségi felhívást adott ki. Az öntözési és vízelvezetési minisztérium pedig azt közölte, hogy a következő három napban árhullámok várhatók az ország nyugati partvidékén.
