Az amnesztia alatt több fogvatartott börtönbüntetését is enyhítették, de nem tisztázták, hogy a rendelkezés a politikai foglyokat is érinti-e.
Paetongtarn Sinavatra, Thaiföld miniszterelnöke reményét fejezte ki, hogy az elengedendők között lesz az a négy thaiföldi halász is, akiket a mianmari haditengerészet novemberben vett őrizetbe, miután hajójuk állítólag belépett a mianmari felségvizekre.
Egy külön közleményből kiderült, hogy Min Aung Hlaing, a junta vezetője 15 évre csökkentette 144, korábban életfogytiglanra ítélt fogoly börtönbüntetését.

Mianmarban jelentősen emelkedett a Jagi szupertájfun okozta áradások és villámárvizek halottjainak száma, az állami televízió keddi beszámolója szerint már 226-an meghaltak, 77-en pedig eltűntek.

Az MRTV helyi adó szerint az áradások csaknem 260 ezer hektárnyi rizsföldet és más termést is elpusztítottak az országban, 26 700 lakóházat megrongáltak.
Kilenc régióban csaknem 400 segélytábort nyitottak. Az UNOCHA, amely arról számolt be, hogy sürgős szükség van élelmiszerre, ivóvízre, menedékre és ruházatra, azt közölte,
a kommunikációs vonalak leálltak, az utakat víz lepte el és hidak rongálódtak meg, ami súlyosan akadályozza a segélyezési erőfeszítéseket.
A rossz kommunikáció, különösen a távoli területekkel, szintén megnehezíti az esetleges áldozatokról szóló információ gyűjtését. A Kínai Népi Felszabadító Hadsereg ezen a héten fegyveres légi és szárazföldi járőrözést végez a mianmari határ közelében a biztonság és stabilitás megőrzése érdekében, valamint a túloldalon zajló polgárháború intenzív harcainak esetleges következményeire reagálva – közölte hétfőn a kínai hadsereg.
A csapatokat hétfőn a délnyugat-kínai Jünnan tartományba vezényelték, hogy teszteljék a határmenti területek biztonságának fenntartására való képességüket és a gyorsaságukat – olvasható a hadsereg déli hadszíntéri parancsnokságának közleményében.

Húsz halálos áldozata és sok sebesültje van annak a légicsapásnak, amelyet a mianmari lázadók szerint a hadsereg hajtott végre hétfőn az ország északi Sagaing régiójában lévő Minginben.
A katonai junta ellen küzdő Népvédelmi Erők (PDF) szóvivője szerint a támadást hétfő reggel követték el, és az áldozatok egy esküvő résztvevői voltak. A légicsapásban legkevesebb 20 ember meghalt, és több mint harmincan súlyosan megsebesültek, köztük nők és gyermekek – tette hozzá.
A helyi jelentések szerint a légitámadást követően a hadsereg nehézfegyverekkel is lőtte a tömeget, ami tovább fokozta a pánikot, és megnehezítette a halottak elszállítását és a sebesültek ellátását.

Mianmarban a katonaság 2021 februári puccs óta erőszakkal igyekszik elfojtani minden ellenállást. Legutóbb április végén legalább négy ember meghalt és többen megsebesültek egy légicsapásban, amely egy lázadók által ellenőrzött területet ért az indiai határon. A bombák egy kórházat értek a Csin államban található Mindat városában.
Az Institute for Strategy and Policy – Myanmar nevű független kutatóintézet szerint a junta csapatai már több mint 20 mészárlást hajtottak végre a lakosság ellen. A jelentés szerint 2021 februárja és 2023 októbere között összesen több mint ötszáz embert, köztük gyerekeket és időseket öltek meg ezekben a támadásokban.

Több mint száz mianmari határőr menekült Bangladesbe az elmúlt napokban, miután a lázadók és a katonai junta közötti harcok egyre intenzívebbé váltak az országban – közölte hétfőn a bangladesi határőrség szóvivője.
A szóvivő elmondta, hogy a mianmari határőrség elmenekült tagjai közül tizenöten megsebesültek, őket kórházban ápolják. A sértetlen határőröket a közeli Bandarbanban helyezték el, mielőtt visszaküldik őket hazájukba – mondta Mizanur Rahmán, a világ legnagyobb menekülttáborának otthont adó Cox’s Bazar város menekültügyi biztosa.
