Egyelőre nem tudni, hogy mikor és honnan indult a hajó, és hányan voltak a fedélzeten. Legkevesebb nyolc ember elhunyt, miközben megpróbált átkelni Franciaországból az Egyesült Királyságba. A gumicsónakon körülbelül 50 fő tartózkodott, többségüket sikerült megmenteni, miután a csónak már a francia partokhoz közel elkezdett süllyedni – közölte a francia parti őrség.
A gumicsónak vasárnapi hajnali egy órakor kezdett süllyedni a Pas-de-Calais-i régióban, a Boulogne-sur-Mer partjaitól északra. A csónak nem sokkal a part elhagyása után már bajba került, így a mentőszolgálat gyorsan elérte a menekülteket. A járművön körülbelül 50 ember utazott.
A baleset mindössze pár héttel azután történt, hogy egy tucatnyian életüket vesztették egy hasonló, Franciaországból Nagy-Britanniába történő átkelés során. 2024 szeptember negyedikén, az év legsúlyosabb hajótragédiájában összesen tizenkét illegális bevándorló vesztette életet, amikor felfújható csónakjuk szétszakadt.
Az, hogy rövid idő alatt két nagyobb baleset is volt a La Manche-csatornán, felhívhatja a brit és a francia kormány figyelmét a migráció legnagyobb problémáira. A BBC forrásai szerint az idei évben ugyanis legalább 21 ezren keltek már át az említett szoroson.
A brit belpolitika is szerepet játszik
A La Manche-csatornán átkelő illegális migránsok kérdése a júliusi brit parlamenti választások egyik fő témája volt, ahol a Keir Starmer vezette Munkáspárt fölényes győzelmet aratott.
Az új brit kormány egyik első intézkedése az volt, hogy elvetette azt az emberi jogvédelmi csoportok által is bírált tervet, miszerint a kis hajókon érkező migránsok egy részét Ruandába küldik, ahelyett, hogy Nagy-Britanniában kérhetnének menedéket.
Starmer ezt a tervet trükközésnek nevezte, és helyette úgy döntött, hogy a program elhagyásával megtakarított pénz egy részét egy megerősített határőrizeti erő felállítására fordítja, hogy megfékezhessék a kis csónakokkal érkezők mögött álló bűnbandák tevékenységét.
Egyre többen próbálnak átkelni
A francia tengeri hatóságok közölték, hogy az elmúlt 48 órában megint megnövekedett az átjutni próbálók száma – összesen 18 átkelési kísérletet figyeltek meg. Ezek sokszor azonban problémákba ütköznek, így péntek és szombat között legalább 200 embert kellett kimentenie a parti őrségnek.
A vasárnap hajnali nyolc halottal együtt az idei évben eddig 45 menekült vesztette életét a La Manche-csatornán – az ENSZ Nemzetközi Migrációs Szervezete szerint 2021 óta ez a legmagasabb bejelentett szám.

Felborult egy bevándorlókat szállító hajó Jemen délnyugati partvidékénél, és a fedélzeten tartózkodó 45 ember közül biztosan csak négyen élték túl a balesetet – közölte csütörtökön az ENSZ Menekültügyi Főbiztossága (UNHCR).
A hajó szerda éjjel borult fel az erős szél és a túlterheltség miatt az ország délkeleti részén fekvő Taizz tartománynál – számolt be az UNHCR az X-en. Mindössze 4 túlélőt találtak, amely rávilágít a Jemen és az Afrika közti tengeri út veszélyeire – tették hozzá.
A főbiztosság egyebek között a bevándorlásbarát Nemzetközi Migrációs Szervezettel (IOM) együttműködésben segít a túlélőkön.
Évente több ezer afrikai bevándorló kel tengeri útra Jemen partjai felé, ahonnan többségük a Perzsa-öböl menti államok felé utazik tovább munkát találni. A világszervezet adatai szerint csak tavaly 97 ezer migráns érkezett Afrika szarvának országaiból Jemenbe. Többségük a polgárháború dúlta országon keresztül Szaúd-Arábiába és az öböl partján fekvő más államokba akar eljutni megélhetés céljából, de az útjukat megszervező embercsempészek gyakran túlzsúfolt lélekvesztőkön szállítják át őket a Vörös-tengeren vagy az Ádeni-öblön.
Az IOM szerint az elmúlt tíz évben legalább 1860 ember halt meg vagy tűnt el ezen az útvonalon, közülük 480-an megfulladtak.
A Jemenbe érkező migránsok száma 2021 és 2023 között megháromszorozódott, mintegy 27 ezerről több mint 90 ezerre nőtt.
Júniusban legalább 49 migráns vesztette életét és 140-et eltűntnek nyilvánítottak, miután egy Szomáliából induló hajó 260 bevándorlóval a fedélzetén felborult a jemeni partoknál. Áprilisban legkevesebb 62 ember halt meg két hajótörésben Dzsibuti partjainál, miközben Jemenbe próbáltak eljutni.

Az egyik hajót és a holttesteket a hullámok sodorták partra, a másik jármű utasait a tengeren mentette egy német civil szervezet.
Öt holttestet találtak a szicíliai Marinella di Selinunte előtti vizeknél, miután hajótörést szenvedett egy menekülőket szállító hajó. A holttesteket és a bárkát a hullámzás vitte partra. A környéket átkutatták a hatóságok, és őrizetbe vettek 18 menekülőt, akiknek sikerült élve partot érniük.

A görög partiőrség 18 bevándorlót mentett ki az Égei-tengerből, még Törökország parti vizein.
Legkevesebb négy ember meghalt hétfőn az Égei-tengeren a Görögországhoz tartozó Leszbosz közelében, miután elsüllyedt egy bevándorlókat szállító hajó.
A görög partiőrség egységei 18 embert ki tudtak menteni a vízből, őket Leszbosz fő kikötőjébe, Mitilínibe szállították. A hatóságok szerint a hajó még Törökország parti vizeiben tartózkodott, amikor bajba került, de a török partiőrség nem küldött hajókat a segítségére, ezért szerveztek végül a görögök mentőakciót.
A Törökország partjaitól mindössze néhány kilométerre fekvő görög szigetek az Ázsiából az Európai Unióba irányuló migráció kiemelt célpontjai. Az elmúlt egy hétben több mint négyszáz bevándorlót mentett ki a görög partiőrség a térségben a vízen hánykolódó hajókról.

A La Manche csatornán, Franciaország partjainál történt hajóbalesetben legkevesebb hat ember meghalt, és több mint ötven embert kellett kimenteni a vízből. A hajó Franciaországból Nagy-Britanniába próbált átkelni a La Manche csatornán illegális bevándorlókkal a fedélzetén – írja az MTI.
Franck Dhersin, Sangatte tengerparti város polgármestere elmondta, reggel 6 óra körül mentőakció indult, mivel több tucatnyi csónak próbált meg egyszerre átkelni a csatornán.
„Ötvennégy embert kimentettünk, köztük egy nőt” – mondta Anne Thorel, az egyik mentőhajón tartózkodó önkéntes.
A brit parti őrség közölte, hogy Doverből egy mentőhajót küldött a művelethez, továbbá a parti őrség mentőcsapatát és a mentőszolgálat munkatársait.

Az újabb földközi-tengeri tragédiáról az a négy túlélő – három férfi és egy nő – számolt be, akiket a Rimona nevű, máltai zászló alatt közlekedő kereskedelmi hajó mentett ki a tengerből. A túlélőket szerda reggel adták át az olasz partiőrség egyik járőrhajójának, ezután Lampedusára szállították őket.
Az Elefántcsontpartról és Guineából érkező túlélők azt mondták a parti őrség tisztjeinek, hogy a csónakjuk csütörtök délelőtt 10 órakor hagyta el a tunéziai Szfaksz kikötőjét, és Olaszország felé tartottak. Körülbelül hat órája voltak úton, amikor egy nagy hullám felborította a hétméteres csónakot, amiben összesen 45-en utaztak, köztük volt három gyerek is. A túlélők elmondása szerint csak 15-en viseltek mentőmellényt. A három férfi és a sokkos állapotban lévő nő vallomása szerint rajtuk kívül mindenki más meghalt, így az áldozatok száma negyvenegy.
Mivel a túlélőket több órával a hajótörés után, a tragédia helyszínétől távolabb mentették ki, így sem a Rimona, sem az olasz parti őrség járőrhajói nem észleltek holttesteket a tengerben.
Ferenc pápa néhány nappal ezelőtt, a Portugáliából hazafelé tartó repülőjáraton beszélt arról újságíróknak, hogy a Földközi-tenger a menekültek temetőjévé vált. A katolikus egyházfő arra szólította fel Európa és a világ vezetőit, hogy tenni kell azért, hogy minél több életet mentsenek meg a tengeren és az észak-afrikai sivatagokban.

Az AFP számolt be arról, hogy felborult egy illegális bevándorlókat szállító hajó Tunézia partjainál pénteken, a hajón tartózkodó bevándorlók közül azonban 34 ember eltűnt.
Fawzi El Masmoudi, a szfaxi bíróság szóvivője arról jelentett, hogy csak négy bevándorlót sikerült kimenteni a vízből, további 34 embert pedig jelenleg is keresnek.
Hozzátette, a bevándorlók csütörtökön indultak útnak a part menti Sfax régióból, hogy Olaszországba jussanak.
Az olasz parti őrség csütörtökön közölte, hogy mintegy 750 bevándorlót mentettek ki két külön műveletben a dél-olasz partvidéken, néhány órával azután, hogy legalább öt ember meghalt, 33-an pedig eltűntek egy Tunéziából induló tengeri átkelési kísérlet során.
Faouzi Masmoudi tunéziai bíró a Reuters hírügynökségnek elmondta, hogy hét ember halt meg a hajó felborulásában Sfax város partjainál, köztük csecsemők és gyerekek.
Houssem Jebabli, a Nemzeti Gárda tisztviselője elmondta, hogy a parti őrség két nap alatt 56 Olaszország felé tartó hajót állított meg, és több mint 3000 migránst vett őrizetbe, főként a szubszaharai afrikai országokból.

Negyvenhárom holttestet emeltek ki eddig a tengerből a dél-olaszországi Calabria partjainál, ahol egy több mint száz fős csoportot szállító hajó szenvedett balesetet – közölte a kikötő-kapitányság vasárnap.
A viharos időben bajba jutott hajónak a kikötőkapitányság és a pénzügyőrség sietett a segítségére. A legutolsó közlések szerint 43-an veszítették életüket, több holttestet a hullámok partra vetettek. A tengerbe vesztek kisgyerekek is.
Nyolcvan túlélőt számolnak, közülük huszonegy embert kellett kórházba szállítani, a többieket a legközelebbi menekültügyi központban helyezték el.
A Törökországból indult hajó az olaszországi partok előtt néhány méterre a parti sziklákhoz csapódott. Más hatósági beszámolók szerint a hajót a viharos hullámok törték darabokra. A baleset a calabriai Steccato di Cutro közelében történt.
A túlélők beszámolói szerint mintegy száznyolcvanan utaztak a hajón, akik Irakból, Pakisztánból, Afganisztánból érkeztek. Más számítások szerint kétszázötven lehetett a csoport létszáma.
Giorgia Meloni miniszterelnök közleményben fejezte ki mély fájdalmát a halálos áldozatok miatt, akiknek életét a kormányfő szerint az emberkereskedők törték ketté.
Meloni bűncselekménynek nevezte, hogy egy alig húsz méter hosszú hajóval mintegy kétszáz embert szállítottak rossz időben. „Embertelen férfiak, nők, gyerekek életét az utazásért általuk fizetett jegyre váltani, a biztonságos út hamis ábrándjával” – hangoztatta közleményében a kormányfő.
Hozzátette: a római kormány elkötelezte magát az indulások megállítására és hasonló tragédiák megakadályozására. Giorgia Meloni a legmagasabb szintű együttműködésre szólította fel a kiindulási és származási országokat. Megjegyezte: magától értetődik, hogy „halottakkal spekulál” az, aki a szabályok nélküli migráció illúzióját élteti.
Matteo Piantedosi belügyminiszter kijelentette, a hatalmas tragédia bizonyítja, mennyire elengedhetetlen a határozott fellépés az illegális bevándorlás hálózatával szemben, melyet a gátlástalan emberkereskedők használnak ki saját gazdagodásukra, rögtönzött, nem megfelelő hajókkal és rossz időjárási feltételek között zajló átkelésekkel.
A tárcavezető úgy vélte, minden lehetséges kezdeményezéssel folytatni kell az indulások leállítását, és nem szabad bátorítani az átkeléseket egy jobb élet ábrándjával, ami kizárólag az emberkereskedelmet táplálja, és a mostanihoz hasonló tragédiákhoz vezet.
Matteo Salvini kormányfő-helyettes, volt belügyminiszter, a Liga vezetője közösségi oldalán azt írta, az emberkereskedelem megállítása erkölcsi kötelesség, főleg, mivel így ártatlan életeket lehet megmenteni.
A volt baloldali kormányfő, Matteo Renzi az Élő Olaszország (IV) centrumpárt vezetője hangsúlyozta, az emberkereskedőket kell megállítani, nem a tengeren életeket mentő civilszervezeteket.

A görög hatóságok jelentése szerint egy hajó sodródott a viharos tengeren Kréta szigetének déli partja közelében, rajta több száz menekülttel, a mentőakciót azonban jelentősen megnehezítette a közel orkán erejű szél.
A parti őrség szóvivője az AFP hírügynökségnek nyilatkozott arról, hogy az éjszaka folyamán kaptak segélyhívást a hajó utasaitól, emellett azt állították, hogy a fedélzeten 400-500 ember tartózkodik, azonban pontos számot nem tudtak mondani.
A mentőakcióban a görög haditengerészet egyik fregattja, két olasz halászhajó, egy tanker és két teherhajó vett részt, azonban az erős szél és a viharos tenger miatt reggelig senkit sem tudtak biztonságos helyre szállítani.
Az Al Jazeera beszámolójából az is kiderült, miszerint egyelőre nem lehet biztosan tudni, hogy a menekülteket szállító hajó honnan indult és hová tartott, illetve azt sem, hogy a fedélzeten tartózkodók milyen nemzetiségűek voltak.
Évente több tízezer ember menekül el a Közel-Keleten, Ázsiában és Afrikában dúló konfliktusok, valamint a pusztító szegénység elől, s ennek érdekében egy veszélyes tengeri utat is vállalnak, hogy az Európai Unióba, azon belül Görögországba és Olaszországba juthassanak.
