Az Iszlám Állam hétfőn közölte, hogy ők követték el a mozambiki terrortámadást, ahol a hadsereg és az iszlamisták közötti harc még mos is zajlik – írja a Reuters-re hivatkozva az Index.
Múlt hét szerda óta tartó támadásban legalább 55 embert öltek meg a mozambiki Palma városában iszlamista fegyveresek. A The Times szerint egy brit állampolgár is meghalt terrortámadásban. Több ezer ember menekült el a városból a támadás után, 180-an pedig az Amarula hotelben kerestek menedéket. Egyikük a CNN-nek elmondta, hogy a hotelban „nincs élelmük, csak vizük”, és 24 órán át vannak a hadsereg és az terroristák kereszttüzében. A mozambiki hadsereg helikopterrel menekíti az embereket a szállodából, miközben igyekszik az iszlamista terroristákat kiszorítani a városból.
Több százan rekedtek a Total francia nagyvállalat által használt egyik gázmező melletti faluban, Quitindában is.
Az iszlamisták által lerohant Palma város közelében pénteken iszlamista fegyveresek megtámadták a Total francia energetikai vállalat külföldi szakembereit evakuáló, 17 járműből álló konvojt – derült ki biztonsági és diplomáciai források legfrissebb értesüléseiből.
A külföldi szakemberek, akik a Total gázkitermelési projektjén dolgoztak, a város Amarula szállodájából menekültek el, ahol előzőleg a dzsihadisták támadása elől menedéket kerestek, egyes hírek szerint mintegy 200-an. Az épületben rekedt emberek a kormányerők segítségét kérték kimenekítésükhöz.
A szállodában korábban egy ember meghalt, több megsebesült, feltehetően a szélsőségesek támadásában. Az épületből ugyanakkor helikopterekkel sikerült kimenekíteni húsz embert. Ezt követően 172 szakember úgy határozott, hogy autókon hagyja el a várost.
A gépkocsioszlopban tizenhét jármű volt, de csak hétnek sikerült áttörni, mert a dzsihadisták a szállodától nem messze lecsaptak rájuk.
A rajtaütésnek sok áldozata van, többen eltűntek. A mozambiki külügyminisztérium, a védelmi tárca, valamint a tartományi kormányzat nem válaszolt a Reuters hírügynökségnek a történtekkel kapcsolatos szombati megkeresésére.

Helyszíni híradások szerint a szélsőségesek szerdán tűntek föl a városban, és válogatás nélkül lőni kezdtek a járókelőkre. Meg nem erősített hírek szerint halálos áldozatok is vannak, szemtanúk lefejezett holttesteket láttak heverni az utcán, de ezt független forrásból egyelőre nem erősítették meg.
A mozambiki védelmi minisztérium szerint a dzsihadisták összehangoltan, három irányból nyomultak be a városba, amely egy óriási gázmező közvetlen közelében fekszik. A dzsihadista támadás miatt több százan rekedtek a Total francia nagyvállalat gázkitermelési projektjével szomszédos faluban, Quitindában, és kérték a kormányt, hogy sürgősen kezdje meg az evakuálásukat.
A Human Rights Watch jogvédő szervezet szerint a támadók azt mondják, hogy egy helyi, mozambiki dzsihadista csoporthoz, az al-Sababhoz tartoznak.
Palmában a fegyveres támadók elől sokan – köztük a Total mellett egy másik külföldi energiaipari óriásvállalat, az amerikai Exxon munkatársai – az Amarula szállóban kerestek menedéket.
A mozambiki hadsereg helikopterrel menti az embereket a szállodából, miközben igyekszik távol tartani az épülettől a dzsihadistákat.
A muszlim szélsőségesek támadásai miatt a térségbe hetek óta nem lehet eljutni közúton. A dzsihádisták augusztus óta a hatalmukban tartják Mocimboa da Praia települést Palmától 80 kilométernyire délre, és elfoglaltak több környező falut is.
Az Iszlám Állam nevű terrorszervezethez köthető iszlamisták szervezetét Mozambikban al-Shababnak hívják, de nem tudni arról, hogy lenne kapcsolata a Szomáliában tevékenykedő al-Shabaab terrorszervezettel, amely viszont az al-Kaidával működik együtt. A washingtoni kormány március elején terrorszervezetnek minősítette mozambiki dzsihadista csoportot, és szankciók széles körét vezette be ellene.

Mozambik partjainál egy szigeten több mint száz, egyelőre ismeretlen okból elpusztult delfin tetemére találták – közölte az ország környezetvédelmi minisztériuma.
Mozambik környezetvédelmi minisztériuma közölte, hogy vasárnap 25, majd kedden további 85 döglött delfinre bukkantak Bazaruto-sziget nyugati partvidékén. A Mozambiki-csatornán, a szárazföld és Madagaszkár közti szorosban fekvő sziget része a Bazaruto Nemzeti Parknak, az afrikai ország első védett tengeri övezetének.
Egyelőre nem tudni, hogy mi okozta a tömeges delfinpusztulást, az állatokon nem látszik semmiféle sérülés nyoma, és az első vizsgálatok az emésztőrendszerükben sem mutattak ki olyan anyagot, amely a halálukat okozhatta.
