A CNN jelentése szerint az egyiptomi hatóságok megtiltották a fürdőzést egy egyiptomi vörös-tengeri üdülőhely strandjának közelében, miután csütörtökön egy cápatámadásban életét vesztette egy orosz állampolgár. A halálos incidens az Egyiptom keleti partvidékén fekvő népszerű turistavárosban, Hurghadában történt.
A helyszínt a hatóságok lezárták, a fürdőzést pedig megtiltották a strandon.
Viktor Voropajev orosz főkonzul megerősítette, az 1999-es születésű orosz állampolgár „cápatámadás következtében halt meg, hozzátéve, hogy a halálhírt az egyiptomi illetékes hatóságok is megerősítették. Jasmine Fouad környezetvédelmi miniszter egy bizottságot is összehívott az eset kivizsgálására.
A környezetvédelmi miniszter ezen felül arra utasította a helyi hatóságokat, hogy a lehető legmagasabb szintű biztonságot biztosítsák a Vörös-tenger partjaira látogatók számára, s tegyenek meg minden lehetséges intézkedést annak érdekében, hogy ne ismétlődhessen meg az incidens.
Az egyiptomi környezetvédelmi minisztérium által kiadott közleményben arra is kitértek, hogy egy erre szakosodott csapatnak később sikerült befognia a támadó tigriscápát, jelenleg pedig vizsgálatokat végeznek rajta, hogy kiderítsék a támadás okát, s megállapítsák, hogy ez ugyanaz a cápa-e, mely a korábbi incidenseket okozta.
A halálos cápatámadás nyomán a környezetvédelmi minisztérium péntektől kétnapos fürdőzési tilalmat rendelt el, így a környéken sem úszni, sem búvárkodni, sem pedig más vízi sporttevékenységet nem lehet űzni a Hurghadától északra fekvő Gouna és a tőle délre fekvő Soma-öböl közötti területen.

Az ungvári járási rendőrkapitányság dolgozói az Ukrán Biztonsági Szolgálattal (SZBU) együttműködve letartóztattak Kárpátalján egy 48 éves orosz állampolgárt, aki lőszereket és fegyvert rejtegetett Ungvár közelében.
A házkutatás során pisztolyra, gránátokra, TNT-robbanóanyagra, füstgránátra, hidegfegyverekre és töltényekre bukkantak. A tárgyi bizonyítékokat lefoglalták és szakértői vizsgálatra küldték.
Mint kiderült, a férfi 2004 óta él Ukrajna területén. A hatóságok büntetőeljárást indítottak az ügyben, a vádlottra akár hét év börtönbüntetés is várhat.
