Hatalmas tömegek tüntettek Valenciában a hatóságok által a közelmúltban bekövetkezett halálos árvizek kezelése miatt, és Carlos Mazón regionális vezető lemondását követelték.
Spanyol hírügynökségek szerint szombaton 130 000 ember vonult az utcára – a tüntetők azt skandálták, hogy „mi sárral vagyunk bemocskolva, ti vérrel vagytok bemocskolva”.
Több mint 200 ember halt meg az áradásokban, amelyeket a Valenciát és a szomszédos tartományokat októberben sújtó özönvízszerű esőzések okoztak. Nyolcvan embert még mindig eltűntként tartanak nyilván.
A tüntetők azzal vádolták a helyi hatóságokat, hogy túl későn adtak ki árvízriasztást.
A feldühödött tüntetők a rendőrséggel is összecsaptak.

A város polgármestere, María José Catalá képeket tett közzé a közösségi médiában a betört ablakokról és egy videót, amelyen látszólag tüzet gyújtanak, majd hozzátette: „A vandalizmus nem megoldás”. Valencia városi tanácsa elítélte a vandalizmust, mondván, hogy a várost is sújtotta az árvíz.

Burkina Faso 2015 óta áll folyamatos harcban az Iszlám Államhoz és az al-Kaida nemzetközi terrorszervezetekhez köthető fegyveres milíciákkal.
Az iszlamistákkal vívott küzdelem idén súlyosbodott, ami Burkina Fasót a régióban az erőszak gócpontjává alakította. A kijevi katonai vezetés jelentése szerint az orosz hadsereg változatlanul Bahmut, Marjinka és Avgyijivka településekre koncentrál a támadásban, de az ukrán erők kedden visszavertek 36 ellenséges támadást a frontnak eme szakaszain.
Olekszandr Szirszkij, az ukrán szárazföldi erők parancsnoka az Interfax-Ukrajina hírügynökségnek adott interjújában katonai szempontból azzal magyarázta Bahmut megtartásának fontosságát, hogy az orosz csapatok ne támadhassák oldalba vagy hátba az ukrán csapatokat a Luhanszk megyei Liszicsanszk, valamint Donyeck város felől.
A vezérkar jelentésében kitért még arra, hogy az ukrán légierő kedden öt csapást mért orosz katonai összpontosulásokra és egyet egy légvédelmi rendszerre, a rakéta- és tüzérségi egységek pedig eltaláltak egy orosz légvédelmi rakétarendszert és egy radarállomást.

Az ukrán erők ellenőrzés alatt tartják a helyzetet a Donyeck megyei Bahmutnál, ahol hosszú ideje heves harcokat folytatnak a támadó orosz erőkkel – jelentette ki Hanna Maljar, az ukrán védelmi miniszter helyettese pénteken.
Elismerte ugyanakkor, hogy az orosz erők valamelyest előrehaladtak a pénteki harcokban.
„A helyzet feszült, de ellenőrzés alatt tartjuk. A döntéseket a katonai fejlemények alapján hozzuk meg” – írta Maljar a Telegram-oldalán.
Jevgenyij Prigozsin, a Wagner orosz zsoldoscsoport alapítója szintén a Telegramon azt hangoztatta, hogy noha az ukrán erők Bahmutban „operatív bekerítésbe” kerültek, korai lenne még a teljes bekerítésüktől beszélni. A városért az ő megfogalmazása szerint is heves harcok folynak.

Tárgyalásokba kezdtek a felek a szudáni fegyveres konfliktus enyhítésére, miután a második napja tartó összecsapások során legkevesebb 56 ember életét vesztette, további 600 pedig megsérült. A Sky News jelentése szerint a vezetői tárgyalások ellenére a két fél vasárnap is folytatta a konfliktust, és egyértelműen jelezték, hogy a növekvő diplomáciai nyomás ellenére sem hajlandóak befejezni az ellenségeskedést. Heves összecsapások törtek ki a nyugat-franciaországi Deux-Sèvres megyében, Sainte-Soline településen, ahol a gyülekezési tilalmat megszegő környezetvédők csaptak össze a rohamrendőrséggel. Az összetűzéseknek számos komoly sérültje van.
A hatóságok vízágyúkkal oszlatták fel az őket kövekkel, sőt gyújtóbombákkal dobáló tüntetőket. A több ezer fős tömeg egy új víztározó megépítése ellen tiltakozott, amelyet egy 400 gazdálkodóból álló csoport épít azzal a céllal, hogy nyáron ily módon csökkentsék a hálózati vízhasználatot. Sainte-Soline-ba több mint 3000 rendőrt vezényeltek, mivel a hatóságok szerint csaknem ezer, „potenciálisan erőszakos” aktivista is csatlakozott a tüntetéshez. Petárdákat és késeket is lefoglaltak.

A Sainte-Soline-ban tüntetők egy része szerint küzdelmük összefügg az Emmanuel Macron elnök ellen zajló országos tiltakozásokkal. „Ami ma történik, az a küzdelmek konvergenciája. A vízért folytatott küzdelem hasonlít a nyugdíjért folytatott küzdelemhez” – fogalmazott Benoit Jaunet, a Deux-Sèvres-i Gazdaszövetség szóvivője.
Franciaországot hetek óta széles körű tiltakozások sújtották. Párizsban és a nagyvárosokban szombat éjszakára ugyan valamivel nyugodtabb lett a helyzet, de a biztonsági erők továbbra is magas készültségben vannak az elmúlt napok erőszakos megmozdulásai után.
Az Európa Tanács arra figyelmeztetett, hogy a szórványszerűen előforduló erőszakos cselekmények „nem indokolhatják az állam képviselői által alkalmazott túlzott erőszakot”, és nem foszthatják meg a gyülekezési szabadsághoz való joguktól a békés tüntetőket.
