Január és szeptember között Peruban a hatóságok több mint 16 ezer hektár illegális kokacserje-ültetvényt semmisítettek meg – jelentette be vasárnap a világ egyik legnagyobb, a kokainalapanyagát előállító növénytermelő ország kormánya.
„Eddig összesen 16 226 hektárnyi illegális, kábítószer-termelésre szolgáló kokacserje-ültetvényt semmisítettek meg” – derült ki a belügyi tárca közleményéből. A hatóságok úgy vélik, hogy ezzel „148,6 tonna kokain-hidroklorid (a kokain kémiai vegyülete) potenciális előállítását akadályozták meg”. Az állam célja, hogy az év során 25 ezer hektárnyi kokacserje-ültetvényt semmisítsen meg, míg tavaly 22 500 hektárnyi ültetvényt számoltak fel.
A kokatermesztés legális Peruban, amennyiben gyógyászati vagy hagyományos célokra használják, de szinte az egész mennyiség a kábítószer-kereskedelemben köt ki. A Nemzeti Bizottság a Fejlesztésért és a Kábítószermentes Életért (Devida) elnevezésű szervezet szerint mintegy hatmillió perui fogyaszt legálisan kokacserjét. Peru a szomszédos Bolívia mellett és Kolumbia mögött az egyik fő kokatermelő. A nemzetközi szervezetek szerint évente mintegy 400 tonna kábítószert állít elő.

Az Amerikai Egyesült Államokban elfogtak egy hírhedt perui bandavezért, akit két tucat gyilkosság miatt köröztek – jelentették be csütörtökön az amerikai hatóságok.
A Los Killers nevű bűnszövetkezet 38 éves vezére, Gianfranco Torres-Navarro még májusban lépte át illegálisan az amerikai határt a texasi Roma településnél, ahol előállították és kötelezték, hogy jelentkezzen a bevándorlási és vámhatóságnál (ICE).
A férfit szerdán tartóztatták le a New York állambeli Endicottban, a bevándorlási hivatal helyi irodájában.
„Torres-Navarro jelentős veszélyt jelent közösségeinkre, és nem fogjuk hagyni, hogy New York állam veszélyes idegenek menedéke legyen” – mondta a hatóság képviselője.
Pennsylvania államban letartóztatták a bandavezér barátnőjét, Mishelle Sol Ivanna Ortíz Ubillúst is, aki a perui hatóságok szerint egyszerre volt Torres-Navarro „kedvese, helyettese és pénztárosa”.
A Los Killers de Ventanilla y Callao bűnbanda vezéreként Torres-Navarro kíméletlen erőszakot alkalmazott olyan rivális bandák ellen, akik maguk is hasznot akartak húzni fő üzletágából, az építőipari vállalatok megzsarolásából.
A férfi azután menekült el Peruból, hogy márciusban lelőtt egy nyugdíjas rendőrt és megsebesített egy önkormányzati alkalmazottat egy étteremben San Miguelben.
Torres-Navarro korábban a Los Malditos de Angamos (Az angamosi elátkozottak) tagja volt. Gianfranco 23 becenéven is emlegetik, utalva az által megölt emberek számára.
A hatóságok szerint a Los Killers üzelmeiben befolyásos „üzlettársa” volt Ortiz Ubillús is, aki a TikTokon népes követőtábora előtt szívesen dicsekedett fényűző életmódjukkal.

A Csendes-óceáni Cunami Figyelmeztető Központ szerint az ország partjai mentén akár 3 méteres cunamik is kialakulhatnak – írja az Index.
Pénteken 7,2-es erősségű földrengés rázta meg Peru partjait – írja a CNN. A rengés Atiquipa városától nyolc kilométerre nyugatra, a fővárostól, Limától mintegy 600 kilométerre délre történt.
„A rendelkezésre álló adatok alapján veszélyes szökőárhullámokat jósolnak néhány partvidékre” – közölte a Csendes-óceáni Cunami Figyelmeztető Központ. A központ szerint az Egyesült Államok nyugati partvidékét nem fenyegeti szökőárveszély.
A perui Geofizikai Intézet (IGP) szintén cunamiriadót adott ki, ami azt jelenti, hogy a hatóságoknak a lehetséges cunami miatt a lakosság védelmét szolgáló protokollokat kell aktiválniuk.
Néhány atiquipai lakos a közösségi médiában közölte, hogy nagyon erős és hosszan tartó rengést éreztek, amelytől megremegtek az ágyaik. A rengést egészen a fővárosig érezték.
Peru és a dél-amerikai csendes-óceáni partvidék nagy része két tektonikus lemez határán fekszik: a Dél-amerikai-lemez, amely a kontinens nagy részét magában foglalja, és a Nazca-lemez, amely a Csendes-óceánon át a partvidék nagy részén húzódik.

Két nő rátámadott a perui elnökre, Dina Boluartéra egy hivatalos rendezvényen szombaton az andoki Ayacucho városában, ahol 2022 decemberében tíz ember halt meg a kormány elleni tüntetések során.
A támadás akkor történt, amikor Dina Boluarte asszony egy út alapkőletételén vett részt a fővárostól, Limától mintegy 570 kilométerre délkeletre fekvő városban.
Az államfő éppen Ayacucho tartományi kormányzójával, Wilfredo Oscorimával találkozott, amikor a televíziós felvételek szerint a találkozó helyszínéül szolgáló emelvényre a két támadó felmászott, és egyikük megragadta az elnök haját.
Megölték a férjemet, maradjak nyugodt? – kiabálta az egyik támadó, akit a hatóságok őrizetbe vettek.
A nő azzal vádolta Boluartét, hogy ő a felelős férje haláláért, akit a 2022. december 15-én Ayacuchóban tartott tüntetések során megöltek.
A miniszteri kabinet vezetője, Alberto Otarola az X közösségi oldalon elítélte a „rendkívül súlyos” támadást, amely „veszélyeztette az államfő biztonságát”.
Az elnök először érkezett Ayacuchóba azóta, hogy az ellene országszerte szervezett tüntetésekben mintegy ötvenen meghaltak. A halálos áldozatok közül húszat az állami erők öltek meg az Emberi Jogok Amerikaközi Bizottsága szerint.

A rendőrök két embert letartóztattak, és nagy mennyiségű marihuánát, illetve kokaint lefoglaltak.

Legkevesebb kilenc munkás életét vesztette és 23 másik megsebesült egy észak-perui aranybánya elleni támadásban, amely hét támadó letartóztatásához vezetett – jelentette be szombat este a helyi belügyminisztérium.
A hatósági tájékoztatás szerint fegyveres bűnözők egy csoportja betört a Poderosa bányavállalat létesítményeibe Pataz tartományban, és erőszakos összecsapást vívott a vállalat biztonsági szolgálatával.
A halottak között van hét őr, aki megpróbálta visszaverni a támadást, és két bányász, aki akkor halt meg, amikor a támadók robbanóanyagot dobtak a bánya tárnájába – közölte a rendőrség. A mintegy tíz órán át tartó támadás során a támadók négy munkást túszul ejtettek, majd menekülés közben elengedték őket.
A rendőrségnek hét támadót sikerült letartóztatnia, de ismeretlen számú támadónak sikerült elmenekülnie, mielőtt a hatóságok visszaszerezték az ellenőrzést a terület felett.
A Pataz tartománynak otthont adó La Libertad megye prefektusa, Carolina Velasco az RPP helyi rádióállomásnak elmondta, hogy a támadóknak köze van az illegális aranybányászathoz. A hatóságok nyomoznak, hogy kiderítsék a támadás okait, amelynek során a sajtó szerint nem követtek el rablást.

Legalább huszonhárman életüket vesztették kedden egy buszbalesetben a perui Andok északi részén futó autópályán. A rendőrség tájékoztatása szerint a baleset pontos oka egyelőre ismeretlen.
A rendőrség közleménye szerint az autóbusz letért az autópályáról Corongo tartományban, majd a szakadékba zuhant. Az utasok pontos számáról nem közöltek információt.
A balesetben a buszon utazók közül 23-an vesztették életüket. A hírek szerint a több mint 3000 méteres magasságban fekvő helyszínen továbbra is folynak a mentési munkálatok.
A dél-amerikai országban nagyon gyakoriak a közúti balesetek, különösen a halálos buszbalesetek száma magas, amik legfőképp az autóutak és a járművek rossz állapota miatt történnek.
Tavaly augusztusban 13-an haltak meg egy buszbalesetben az ország déli részén, alig egy hónappal később pedig egy busz szintén szakadékba zuhant a mostanihoz közeli régióban. A tragédia legkevesebb húsz áldozatot követelt.
Peruban a helyi ombudsman adatai szerint a halálos közúti balesetek száma évek óta növekszik. Tavaly 3312-en vesztették életüket, és több mint 53 ezren sérültek meg ilyen jellegű szerencsétlenségekben.

Legkevesebb 20 ember meghalt egy perui buszbalesetben az Andokban – közölte hétfőn az Andina helyi hírügynökség.
A tájékoztatás szerint további 36-an megsérültek azt követően, hogy a távolsági busz a Huancavelica régióban található Anco település határában letért az útról, és mintegy kétszáz méternyit zuhant egy szakadékba.
A busz Ayacucho településéről Huancayóba tartott.
Az Andok országaiban gyakoriak a súlyos buszbalesetek. Az utak gyakran nehezen járhatók, és a járművek műszaki állapota is hagy kívánnivalót maga után. Peruban a helyi ombudsman adatai szerint évek óta növekszik a halálos közúti balesetek száma. Tavaly 3312-en vesztették életüket, és több mint 53 ezren sérültek meg ilyen jellegű szerencsétlenségekben.
