Február 24-én a reggeli órákban tűz ütött ki a szolyvai járási Bányfalun található hotelben. A tűzoltókhoz a kora reggeli órákban érkezett bejelentés a történtekről. A tűz a szálláshely második emeletén lévő raktárhelyiségéből indult.
A dolgozók, amint észrevették a füstöt, azonnal elkezdték
keltegetni a vendégeket, kis időn belül a tűzoltóság is kiérkezett, s a
személyek evakuálását ők folytatták. Az utcára összesen 37 embert menekítettek
ki, azonban a szálloda egyik vendége szobájában ragadt. A tűzoltók feltörték az
ajtót, s kihozták az épületből az eszméletvesztett hölgyet, aki mint kiderült,
szénmonoxid-mérgezést kapott. A vendéget azonnal a Szolyvai Járási Kórház
intenzív osztályára szállították.
A Rendkívüli Helyzetek Állami Szolgálatának (DSZNSZ)
munkatársai még hosszú percekig oltották a tüzet, melynek sikerült megsemmisítenie
a bojlert, a kandallót, a bejárati ajtót, s a raktárhelyiségben őrzött holmit.
A tűz kitörésének pontos okát és az általa okozott kár értékét még vizsgálják a
szakértők – közölte a DSZNSZ kárpátaljai kirendeltsége.

Január 30-án 11 órakor bejelentés érkezett a Rendkívüli Helyzetek Állami Szolgálatának (DSZNSZ) helyi koordinációs központjához, amely szerint egy 1973-ban született helyi állampolgár holttestét találták meg a Vicsa folyóban Hársfalva közelében, a Szolyvai járásban.
