Az autó vezetőjét őrizetbe vették. A rendőrség egyelőre nem közölt részleteket, és arról sem nyilatkozott, hogy szándékos tettről van-e szó.
– Ez terrortámadás volt az LMBT-közösség ellen – jelentette ki Trantalis. Csak erről lehet szó, ez aligha volt baleset – tette hozzá a polgármester.
– Két embert, akik az elfogadás és az egyenlőség mellett álltak ki, eltalált egy autó. A tragédia tőlem és az embereimtől néhány méterre történt. Letaglóz, hogy ilyennek kellett tanúi legyünk – hangoztatta Gregory Tony megyei seriff.
Június a nyugati világban a pride, a meleg méltóság hónapja, amikor arra emlékeznek, hogy 1969-ben ebben a hónapban ütött rajta a rendőrség New Yorkban a meleg közösség körében népszerű Stonewall Inn szórakozóhelyen, ami országszerte arra sarkallta az LMBT-közösség tagjait, hogy kiálljanak jogaikért, és ezzel mérföldkővé vált a melegek jogaiért folytatott küzdelemben.
