Velence egynegyedét elárasztotta a júniusra nem jellemző dagály. A városban a vízszint egyes helyeken elérte a 116 cm-t, ez a hónap harmadik legmagasabb mutatója, jelentette az AP június 5-én. Víz borítja Velence nevezetességét – a Szent Márk teret. A velencei tengeri megfigyelő ügynökség a szélsőséges dagály okaként az Atlanti-óceánon tomboló vihart nevezte meg, amely erős szelet és esőt váltott ki Észak-Olaszországban. A La Stampa kiadvány megjegyezte, hogy ilyen magas dagályok rendkívül ritkák júniusban. A víz ilyen mértékű emelkedése az elmúlt 20 évben csak kétszer történt. A legmagasabb júniusi dagályt Velencében 2002-ben regisztrálták, ekkor a vízszint elérte a 121 centimétert, 2016 júniusában pedig a 117 centimétert.

A több mint 200 kilogramm súlyú bombát Marghera kikötőjének
térségében találták csatornaásás közben, nem messze a Velencébe bevezető vasúti
hídtól.
A „Bomba Day”-nek elnevezett napon 3500 lakost távolítanak
el otthonaikból a robbanószerkezet körüli 1800 méteres körzetben. Az itt élőket
vasárnap reggel hat órától a helyi sportcsarnokba szállítják át.
Reggel hét órától fokozatosan leállítják a Velencébe be- és
kivezető hajó-, valamint gépjárműforgalmat, a vasúti járatokat és a légteret.
Lezárják a Ponte della Libertát, a Velencébe bevezető egyetlen hidat. A
velencei Marco Polo repülőtér a tervek szerint egészen fél egyig lesz lezárva.
Velence polgármestere arra kérte a robbanószerkezettől
távolabb élőket is, hogy legalább vasárnap délelőtt ne menjenek ki az utcára.
A második világháborús bombát az olasz fegyveres erők
tűzszerészei hatástalanítják. A biztonsági műveletben a katasztrófavédelem is
részt vesz.
