Az NPR közlése szerint a veszélyhelyzet elrendelésével a kormány gyorsabban tud forrásokat átcsoportosítani a költségvetésből a járvány elleni küzdelemhez, valamint több rendkívüli intézkedést is lehetővé tesznek a majomhimlő visszaszorítása érdekében. A közegészségügyi veszélyhelyzet alapvetően 90 napig tart, de szükség esetén meghosszabbítható.
A legfrissebb adatok szerint az Egyesült Államokban már több mint 6600 fertőzött lehet (ezek egy részében még csak feltételezik, de nem bizonyították vizsgálattal a megbetegedést). Egyedül Montana és Wyoming azok az államok, ahol még nem tudnak egy betegről sem.

„Szeretnénk megerősíteni elkötelezettségünket a San Franciscó-i LMBTQ-közösségek egészsége iránt is, ahogyan azt városunk történelmileg mindig is tette” – tette hozzá, utalva a majomhimlő által eddig leginkább érintett népességre.
8200 adag vakcinához jutott eddig a város, amelyek a himlő és a majomhimlő megelőzésére egyaránt alkalmasak – viszont Philip szerint 35 ezer adagot kértek. „Három hét alatt ennek a mennyiségnek mindössze harmadát kaptuk meg. Ez közel sem elég, és az igazság az, hogy 35 ezer oltásnál is jóval többre lesz szükségünk az LMBTQ-közösség védelmére és a vírus terjedésének lassítására. Tisztában vagyunk azzal, hogy országszerte oltóanyaghiány van, ennek ellenére ezeket a vakcinát gyorsan szét kell osztani az olyan helyekre, mint San Francisco, ahol aránytalanul nagy az esetek aránya” – mondta.
Az esetek felismerésében a tesztelésnek hatalmas szerepe van, ugyanakkor a CNN cikke szerint sokkolóan alacsony az erre beküldött minták száma. A kapacitás meglenne: heti 80 ezer mintát képes az Egyesült Államok vizsgálni, ebből 70 ezret magánlaborokban – a Mayo Clinic Laboratories ezer mintát tudna elemezni, de csak 45 fut be hozzá egy hét alatt.

Szlovákiában újabb negyven nappal meghosszabbította az október elsején bevezetett vészhelyzetet a kormány péntek este.
A vészhelyzet – immár harmadik – meghosszabbítását az az alkotmánytörvény tette lehetővé, amelyet decemberben hagyott jóvá a pozsonyi törvényhozás. A gyorsított eljárásban elfogadott jogszabályt élesen ellenezte az ellenzék, és jogi szakértők bírálatát is kiváltotta. Az említett alkotmánytörvény alapján a szlovák kormány elvben akárhányszor meghosszabbíthatja a vészhelyzetet, ezt azonban a parlamentnek is jóvá kell hagynia, igaz, elegendő, ha ezt húsz nappal a döntés hatálybalépése után teszi meg.
A péntek esti kormányülés után Igor Matovic miniszterelnök néhány járványintézkedés hétfőtől hatályos módosítását is bejelentette. Ezek egyike, hogy február 8-tól működésbe lép Szlovákiában az úgynevezett Covid-automata, egy olyan keretrendszer, amely a járványintézkedések enyhítésének vagy szigorításának automatizálását hivatott szolgálni a fertőzöttek aktuális számának tükrében. Ennek alapján az ország régióinak jelentős része továbbra is a fekete besorolású, vagyis hétfőtől ezekben az eddig érvényes kijárási korlátozások maradnak hatályban. Az előzetes hírekkel szemben tehát hétfőtől nem kerül sor iskolanyitásra, erre csak a feketénél enyhébb besorolású járásokban adhat majd engedélyt a tisztiorvos.
Szlovákiában még tavaly márciusban hirdetett rendkívüli helyzetet a kormány a koronavírus terjedésének veszélyére hivatkozva, ez jelenleg is hatályban van. A rendkívüli helyzet márciusi kihirdetése után néhány nappal egészségügyi vészhelyzetet is hirdettek, ez júniusban lejárt. A vészhelyzet, amely októbertől lépett érvénybe, az egészségügyi vészhelyzetnél szélesebb körű intézkedéseket lehetővé tévő, általános vészhelyzet. A szlovák szabályozás szerint a vészhelyzetnél már csak egy magasabb állapotszint van, a rendkívüli állapot. Ez utóbbit a parlament javaslatára az államfő hirdeti ki, ám erre még nem volt példa az ország történetében.

Az ukrán kormány pénteki rendkívüli ülésén veszélyhelyzetet hirdetett a fővárosban, Kijevben, továbbá Dnyipropetrovszk és Ivano-Frankivszk megyékben a koronavírus-fertőzés terjedésének megakadályozása végett – jelentette be Denisz Smihal miniszterelnök a Telegram szolgáltatáson keresztül.
A kormányfő hangsúlyozta, hogy a veszélyhelyzet bevezetése egyelőre nem vonja maga után újabb korlátozások bevezetését, hanem – mint fogalmazott – „az erőfeszítések mozgósítása” a célja.
Ukrajnában így már öt megyében van érvényben veszélyhelyzet, mivel korábban már bevezették Kijev, Zsitomir és Csernyivci megyékben is – emlékeztetett az Ukrajinszka Pravda hírportál.
A Közegészségügyi Központ péntek esti közlése szerint Ukrajnában 29-re nőtt az eddig megerősített koronavírusos fertőzöttek száma, közülük mostanáig hárman haltak bele a betegségbe.
Ilja Jemec egészségügyi miniszter pénteken közzétett felhívásában arra figyelmeztetett, hogy Ukrajnában napról napra növekedni fog a fertőzöttek száma, ahogy érkeznek a laboratóriumokból a tesztek eredményei.
„Míg Ukrajnában kevesebb a fertőzött, mint a legtöbb európai országban, helytelen abban bízni, hogy országunkat elkerüli a járvány. A legnehezebb még hátra van. A vírus terjedni fog” – hangsúlyozta.
Kiemelte, hogy az ukrán egészségügyi rendszer, amelyben nem hajtották végre a szükséges reformokat, sokkal gyengébb az európainál, és csak akkor viseli el a Covid-19 okozta megterhelést, ha mindenki betartja a kormányzat által hozott korlátozó intézkedéseket.
