 За словами очевидців, 65-річний потерпілий не був глядачем на Open Highland Games, які проводилися в неділю в замку Гелдроп у Нідерландах, пише видання Sun.

 Чоловік гуляв замковим садом, аж раптом нізвідки з’явився молот і влучив у нього. Це дерев’яний брусок із прикріпленою металевою кулею, яка зазвичай важить 10 кг.
 Один зі свідків розповів місцевому інформаційному агентству Omroep Brabant: «Ми бачили, як молот пролетів крізь живопліт, а потім почули гучний жіночий крик з іншого боку».
 На місце події прибула швидка допомога, у тому числі гелікоптер, проте врятувати потерпілого не вдалося.
 Змагання з метання – це традиційна частина стародавніх шотландських ігор, у яких учасники розмахують молотом навколо своєї голови й кидають його якомога далі.
 Багато глядачів побачили жахливий випадок на власні очі. Після інциденту захід швидко зупинили.
 Свідок додав, що хлопець, який кинув молот, був надзвичайно пригнічений. Це не новачок, а дійсно досвідчений спортсмен, який раніше брав участь у великих змаганнях.
