Azzal vádolják, hogy öngyilkosságra vett rá egy 53 éves belsőépítészt és az édesanyját.
A családtagok szerint Goszvami és édesanyja amiatt vetett véget önkezével saját életének, hogy Goszvami nem fizette ki az egyik tévéstúdió tervezését. A tévés tagadta a vádat. Goszvamit egyszer már 2018-ban letartóztatták, később szabadon engedték, és az ügyet lezárták. Naik családja ezután átfogó vizsgálatot követelt, Mahárástra állam kormánya pedig nemrég újranyittatta az ügyet.

A 35 éves nő szülei elmondták, a férfi mindezt azért tette, mert kíváncsi volt a gyereke nemére. Öt lány után ugyanis fiút szeretett volna, mivel Indiában kevésbé számít értékesnek egy kislány.
Miután a nőt életveszélyes sérülésekkel kórházba szállították, férjét szinte azonnal elfogták. A rendőrök még vizsgálják az eset okát és körülményeit.

Egy 2017-es vizsgálat szerint egy Új-Delhiben található egészségügyi központban havonta legalább három lánycsecsemőt dobnak ki a szemetesbe.

Összedőlt egy háromszintes épület Mumbai egyik külvárosában ma hajnalban. 10-en meghaltak, sokan a romok alatt rekedtek. A mentőcsapatok a még mindig folyamatban lévő mentőakcióban 25 embert menekítettek ki, köztük gyerekeket.
A tragédia Bhiwandi városában történt. Az okokat egyelőre nem tudni. Az épület 3 óra 40 perckor egyszerűen leomlott. Narendra Modi miniszterelnök a helyszínen részvétet nyilvánított az elhunytak családjainak és a sérülteknek mielőbbi felépülést kívánt.

Több, mint 40 fős mentőcsapat dolgozik a helyszínen, köztük a Nemzeti Katasztrófavédelmi Erők (NDRF) 30 fős álló csapata. A nyugat-indiai Maharástra államban összeomlott épület romjai alatt mintegy hetvenen rekedhettek és legalább huszonketten megsérültek.
Anil Paraskar helyi rendőrfőnök tájékoztatása szerint egy ötemeletes lakóház omlott össze a Mumbaitól mintegy 200 kilométerre délre található Mahad településén. Az épületben hozzávetőleg 45 család lakott.
Többeket sikerült kiszabadítani a romok alól. A mentéshez a katasztrófavédelmi szolgálatok mellett a helyi lakosok is csatlakoztak. A munkálatokat ugyanakkor nehezítette a heves monszunesőzés.
Egyelőre nem tudni, mi okozta az épület összeomlását – mondta Paraskar, aki szerint a hatóságok vizsgálatot indítottak a történtek kiderítésére.
Hasonló katasztrófák nem számítanak ritkaságnak Indiában az építkezés biztonsági szabályok figyelmen kívül hagyása, a rossz minőségű építőanyagok, illetve a silány kivitelezés miatt. A balesetek jó része a monszun idején történik.
