Az aranybánya térsége négyórás gyaloglással érhető csak el a legközelebbi településről.
Indonéziában sok helyen működnek engedély nélküli, nem hivatalos bányák, ahol nemcsak földcsuszamlások, árvizek és alagútomlások veszélyeztetik a gyakorlatilag védőfelszerelés nélkül dolgozó bányászokat, hanem a munkálatokhoz használt mérgező anyagok, mint például a higany és a cián is.
Legutóbb júliusban temetett maga alá földcsuszamlás egy illegális aranybányát Celebesz szigetén, akkor 23 ember halt meg.

Az indonéziai Sulawesi (Celebesz) szigetén hétvégén bekövetkezett özönvízszerű esőzések földcsuszamlást okoztak egy illegális aranybányában, amelynek következtében legkevesebb 12 ember életét vesztette, és 18-an eltűntek – közölték hétfőn a hatóságok.
Heriyanto, a helyi mentőszolgálat vezetője arról számolt be, hogy a Gorontalo tartomány Suwawa kerületében vasárnap reggel bekövetkezett földcsuszamlásban bányászok és az illegális bánya közelében élő lakosok haltak meg.
Mint mondta, öt túlélőt sikerült kimenteni, egy mentőcsapat hétfőn 18 eltűnt ember után kutatott. Tájékoztatása szerint a mentőknek mintegy 20 kilométert kellett gyalogolniuk, hogy elérjék a földcsuszamlás helyszínét. A mentést nehezítette az utat borító vastag sár és a folyamatos esőzés a térségben.
Az ügynökség által megosztott fotókon az látható, hogy néhány házat a földcsuszamlás a földdel tett egyenlővé.
Az indonéziai katasztrófavédelmi ügynökség szerint a földcsuszamlás több házat és egy hidat is megrongált. Az ügynökség egyúttal figyelmeztette a lakosokat, hogy Gorontalo tartomány egyes területein hétfőn és kedden is várható eső.
Dél-Sulawesiben áprilisban legalább 18 ember halálát okozta egy földcsuszamlás, amelyet a nagy intenzitású esőzések okoztak.

Egy nap alatt kétszer is kitört szombaton a Lewotobi Laki-laki tűzhányó a turisták által kedvelt indonéziai Flores szigetén, Kelet-Nusa Tenggara tartományban – írja az MTI.
Az első kitörés helyi idő szerint a déli órákban történt és 11 percig tartott, majd három és fél órával később jött a második. Utóbbinál mintegy 900 méter magas füstoszlop kígyózott a vulkán felett.
A hatóságok másodfokú riasztást adtak ki és egy három kilométeres átmérőjű zárt övezetet alakítottak ki a tűzhányó körül, ahová tilos a belépés.
A Lewotobi Laki-laki már januárban is többször kitört, akkor a legmagasabb riasztást rendelték el és a környéken élő kétezer embert evakuálták a térségből.

Újból kitört az indonéziai Halmahera szigeten található Ibu vulkán, amely felett vasárnap hét kilométer magas füstoszlop kígyózott az ég felé – közölték vasárnap a helyi hatóságok.
Az újabb kitörés valamivel több mint hat percig tartott. A helyi katasztrófavédelmi szolgálat felszólította a környéken élő lakosokat, hogy kerüljék a kültéri tevékenységeket és maradjanak zárt térben, míg a hamu teljesen le nem ülepedik. Mindemellett arcmaszkok viselését is javasolták.
Az Ibu a délkelet-ázsiai ország egyik legaktívabb tűzhányója, idén már több mint száz alkalommal tört ki, és májusban a hatóságok a heves kitörések miatt a legmagasabb fokú figyelmeztetést adták ki.
A lakosoknak és a turistáknak azt javasolták, hogy ne menjenek a tűzhányó köré vont csaknem hét kilométeres övezetbe.
A hatóságok megkezdték az érintett térség evakuálását. Vasárnapig több mint 2500 embert szállítottak szükségszállásokra. Halmahera szigetén 2022-es statisztikai adatok szerint több mint 700 ezren élnek.
Indonézia az úgynevezett csendes-óceáni tűzgyűrűn fekszik, tektonikus lemezek találkozásánál, ahol rengeteg az aktív tűzhányó. Az országban több mint 129 aktív vulkán található, közülük 65-öt minősítettek veszélyesnek. Május végén a Nyugat-Szumátra tartományában található Marapi vulkán mutatott aktivitást hamu- és füstfelhőt lövellve.

Abdul Muhari, a katasztrófavédelmi ügynökség munkatársa közölte, hogy egy rendőrökből, katonákból, valamint kutató- és mentőalakulatokból álló csapatot küldtek a területre, hogy evakuálják a környező falvak lakóit.
A hatóságok az időseknek nyújtottak segítséget, míg más lakosokat éjszakára vészsátrakban szállásoltak el. Az ügynökség nem adott tájékoztatást arról, hogy hány embert költöztettek el, de a hatóságok azt javasolták, hogy egy hét kilométeres körzetet tisztítsanak meg.

A heves esők következtében hatalmas víztömeg zúdult le a Merapi tűzhányó lejtőjén, és hideg lávafolyammá alakulva elárasztotta Tanah Datar és Agam körzeteket – közölte a katasztrófavédelem. A víz még szombat késő éjjel öntötte el a körzetek falvait, több mint száz lakóházat és embereket sodort el magával.
„Jelenleg 34 halálos áldozatról tudunk, de a mentőakció folytatásával ez a szám tovább emelkedhet” – közölte a katasztrófavédelem vezetője a Hszinhua hírügynökséggel, hozzátéve, hogy legalább öt embert még mindig keresnek.
A katasztrófavédelem szóvivője elmondta, hogy információs központokat állítottak fel az eltűntek keresésére. Az áradásokban megsérült tizenhat embert kórházba kellett szállítani – tette hozzá.
Két hónappal korábban Nyugat-Szumátra tartományban legkevesebb 19-en vesztették életüket a heves esők hatására kialakult áradásokban és földcsuszamlásokban, több mint 70 ezer embert pedig evakuálni kellett a környékről. A tartomány fővárosában, Padangban és nyolc másik körzetben csaknem hétszáz ház semmisült meg, hidak omlottak össze, és a víz mintegy 113 hektárnyi termőföldet is elöntött.
A Merapi tűzhányó legutóbb januárban tört ki, akkor mintegy 1,3 kilométer magasságba lövellt fel hamut és füstöt, de halálos áldozatokat nem követelt. A vulkán ezt megelőzőn decemberben is kitört, akkor 23-an haltak meg a katasztrófában.

A Maluku tartomány Halmahera szigetén lévő vulkánból helyi idő szerint szerda délelőtt óta füst és pernye áramlik a magasba, és ez az indonéz vulkanológiai intézet szerint másfél kilométer vastag fekete felhőt képezett.
Az intézet vezetője, Hendra Gunawan azt mondta, a készültséget a négyes fokozatú skálán a korábbi kettesről hármasra emelték, és a kráter 3-5 kilométeres körzetéből kitiltottak mindenkit.
Indonézia a Tűzgyűrűnek nevezett, szeizmikusan aktív törésvonal mellett helyezkedik el, és a szigetországban gyakoriak a vulkánkitörések és a földrengések.
Áprilisban az Észak-Celebesz tartományban lévő, Ruang nevű vulkán többször kitört.

Indonéziában ideiglenesen kitelepítenek mintegy 800 embert – csaknem a teljes lakosságot – Észak-Sulawesi tartomány Ruang nevű szigetéről, ahol az azonos nevű vulkán többször kitört az utóbbi napokban – jelentette be szerdán az ország vulkanológiai intézete, hozzátéve, hogy vélhetően újabb kitörések várhatók.
A tartomány fővárosától, Manadótól mintegy 100 kilométerre lévő vulkán kedden már több mint háromszor tört ki, 1,8 kilométer magas, forró füstoszlopot, nagy mennyiségű forró hamut és lávát lövellve a levegőbe. A hatóságok hegy négy kilométeres körzetén belül minden tevékenységet betiltottak, és megemelték a készültségi szintet.
Ruang szigetén körülbelül 830-an élnek, a szomszédos Tagulandang szigetén helyezik őket biztonságba.
A vulkán a tájékoztatás szerint a szigeten nemrég történt földrengések miatt vált ismét aktívvá.
Indonézia a kontinentális lemezek ütközése mentén kialakult, úgynevezett csendes-óceáni tűzgyűrűn fekszik, ahol igen gyakoriak a földrengések és vulkánkitörések, területén 127 aktív vulkán található.
