Kisebb cunamit észlelt a Tokió közelében bekövetkezett földrengést követően a Japán Meteorológiai Ügynökség (JMA) hétfőn.
A természeti jelenség okozta károkról, vagy annak sérültjeiről egyelőre nem érkezett jelentés.
A meteorológiai ügynökség közlése szerint a japán fővárostól délre fekvő Ogaszavara-szigetcsoport egyik szigeténél 60 centiméter magasságú szökőárat észleltek.
A Csiba prefektúrában található Tatejamában 30 centiméteres, a Kocsi prefektúrában található Tosasimidzuban és a Kagosima prefektúrában található Nakano szigeten pedig 40 centiméteres hullámokat regisztráltak, miután cunamiriadót adtak ki az érintett területekre, amelyeket nem sokkal bejelentésük után fel is oldottak.
Ezt követően több, a térségben lévő tengerparti város és település vezetése is megszüntette a lakosokat evakuálásra felszólító utasításokat.
„A hajnalban bekövetkezett földrengés epicentruma az Idzu-félsziget déli végén lévő, lakatlan Torisima sziget közelében volt, erőssége még nem ismert” – közölte a Japán Meteorológiai Ügynökség. Az ügynökség azt is hozzátette, hogy újabb földrengésekre számítva továbbra is megfigyelés alatt tartják a Torisima közeli vizekben mért szeizmikus aktivitást.

Kisebb szökőárhullámok érték el Japán Idzu-szigeteit nem sokkal azt követően, hogy csütörtök reggel 6,5-es erősségű földrengést észleltek a Csendes-óceánon. Maga a földrengés Tokiótól 580 kilométerre délre volt, 17 kilométer mélyen, egy lakatlan sziget, Torisima közelében. Ezt követően adtak ki cunamiriadót, melyben 1 méter magas hullámokra figyelmeztették az érintett területeken élőket. Végül Hacsidzso szigetét 30 centiméteres cunami érte el.
Károkról nem érkezett hír. Ennek ellenére a japán hatóságok további földrengésekre figyelmeztettek, mert a hét eleje óta megnövekedett a szeizmikus aktivitás a térségben.

Halálra marcangolta gondozóját egy oroszlán a Tohoku Safari Park nevű japán állatkertben. Kato Kenicsi éppen meg akarta etetni a vadállatot, ami olyan súlyosan megsebesítette a nyakán, hogy már nem lehetett megmenteni, és a kórházba szállítását követően meghalt.
Az 53 éves Kato Kenicsi már 27 éve dolgozott gondozóként a Tohoku Safari Parkban. A végzetes eset alkalmával elfelejtette bezárni az állatot elkerítő ketrecet, ami végül az életébe került.

A tájfun Vakajama prefektúránál, mintegy 400 kilométerre Tokiótól délnyugatra csapott le. Helyszíni beszámolók szerint mintegy 650-en rekedtek az Oszakai-öbölnél lévő Kanszaj nemzetközi repülőtéren, a járattörlések pedig több mint 50 ezer utast érintenek.
A Lan, óránkénti 108 kilométeres sebességgel várhatóan északnyugat felé veszi az irányt, helyi idő szerint szerda reggelre éri el a Japán-tengert és észak felé indul – jelentette be a japán meteorológiai intézet.
Augusztus elején a Khanun tájfun is lecsapott Japánra, a viharok és esők akkor halálos áldozatokat követeltek.

A Reuters a Német Földtudományi Kutatóközpont (GFZ) közlése nyomán számolt be arról, hogy egy 6-os erősségű földrengés rázta meg pénteken a japán Hokkaidó szigetét.
A GFZ beszámolója szerint a rengés epicentruma 46 kilométerrel a földfelszín alatt volt.

A Japán déli részén fekvő Okinaván a helyi hatóságok felszólították a 760 ezres lakosságot, hogy hagyják el otthonaikat és keressenek menedéket, miután a Khanun tájfun kedden megközelítette a térséget.
A ciklon 180 kilométeres óránkénti sebességgel söpört végig a Csendes-óceánon, és várhatóan kedden este vagy éjszaka éri el Okinava partjait, mielőtt Kína keleti része felé fordulna.
A japán meteorológiai szolgálat tájékoztatása alapján helyi idő szerint kedden délután az „erős” fokozatú Khanun tájfun 170 kilométerre dél-keletre járt Nahától, Okinava székhelyétől.
A riasztás szerint viharos erejű szél, heves esőzés és akár 12 méteres hullámok is várhatók a szigetek partjainál.
„Sokan otthon maradnak, mert házuk betonból épült” – közölte a helyi katasztrófavédelem egyik vezetője. „Azonban akik egyedül élnek vagy alacsonyan fekvő területen, fából készült házakban laknak, azokat arra kérjük: fontolják meg és keressenek menedéket még a tájfun megérkezése előtt” – tette hozzá a tisztségviselő.
Több mint 500, Okinaváról induló vagy oda érkező repülőjáratot töröltek kedden, a helyi kompszolgáltatást és autóbuszjáratokat pedig felfüggesztették az orkán érkezése előtt – jelentette be az NHK japán állami televíziós csatorna.
A JAL és az ANA japán légitársaság tájékoztatása szerint több mint 74 ezer légiutast érintenek a keddi és szerdai járattörlések.

Őrizetbe azonban nem fogják venni.
A japán törvények szerint akár öt évig terjedő szabadságvesztéssel vagy 300 ezer jen (több mint 700 ezer forint) pénzbírsággal is büntethető az, aki fontos kulturális javakat rongál meg.
„Aggódunk, hogy ugyanez megismétlődhet. Bár lehet, hogy nem rosszindulatból tette, mégis sajnálatos és szomorú ez az eset” – mondta a templom egyik szerzetese a Kyodo News beszámolója szerint.
A 8. században épült Tósódaidzsi egyike annak a nyolc helyszínnek, amelyek az ókori Nara történelmi műemlékeit alkotják, és amelyeket 1998-ban az UNESCO a világörökség részévé nyilvánított. A Kiotótól 45 kilométerre délre fekvő Nara a turisták kedvelt célpontja.

Legalább egy ember meghalt, egy pedig megsérült Japán délnyugati részén a heves esőzések okozta áradások és földcsuszamlások miatt, a hatóságok hétfőn több tízezer embert szólítottak fel otthonaik elhagyására.

Macuno Hirokazu kormányszóvivő a sajtónak azt mondta, mintegy 6700 háztartás maradt áram nélkül, a károk felmérése pedig jelenleg is folyik.
„Jelenleg teljesen kiszámíthatatlan a helyzet” – jelentette ki Hattori Szeitaro, Fukuoka prefektusa.

Kumamoto városából 360 ezer embert kellett evakuálni a heves esőzések miatt. A Japán Meteorológiai Ügynökség figyelmeztetése szerint várhatóan kedden is folytatódik az özönvízszerű esőzés.
Hétfőn heves esőzések sújtották Japán délnyugati, harmadik legnagyobb főszigetét, Kjúsút. Az özönvízszerű esőzések miatt összeomlott egy híd, és Kumamoto városából közel 360 ezer lakost kellett evakuálni – írja a Kyodo News.
A Japán Meteorológiai Ügynökség figyelmeztetése szerint a heves esőzés kedd délig folytatódik, ezért felszólította a lakosságot, hogy tegyék meg a szükséges óvintézkedéseket a várható áradások és földcsuszamlások miatt.
Yamato és Mashiki városában hétfő reggel 82 milliméter, illetve 80 milliméter eső esett, ami júliusi rekordnak számít a térségben.
A heves esőzés következtében összeomlott egy 37 méteres betonhíd egy kisebb folyó felett, áldozatokról nem érkezett hír.
