Szudánban 1998-ban meggyilkolt, katonai szolgálat elől elmenekült diákok holttesteit rejtő tömegsírra bukkantak – közölte a szudáni főügyész hétfőn.
A diákok az El Eifalun katonai kiképzőtáborból kísérelték meg a szökést, de felfedezték és agyonlőtték őket. A már besorozott fiatalok attól tartottak, hogy Szudán déli részébe küldik őket, ahol az akkori rezsim polgárháborút vívott a helyi lázadókkal. A főügyész szerint a legyilkolt diákok korábban azt is kifogásolták, hogy nem volt alkalmuk családjukkal tölteni egy muszlim ünnepet. A Reuters hírügynökség értesülései szerint a több tucat holttestet rejtő sírhantot a fővárostól, Kartúmtól keletre találták meg.
A tájékoztatás szerint vizsgálatot indítottak az ügyben. A főügyész hozzátette, hogy a feltételezett gyilkosok a tavaly áprilisban megbuktatott Omar el-Besír korábbi elnök rezsimjének tagjai voltak, néhány közülük pedig külföldre szökhettek. A rosszul kiképzett és felfegyverzett katonákat gyakran a Szudáni Népi Felszabadítási Hadsereg (SPLA) ellen küldték harcolni. A parancsnokok és kiképzőtisztek Besír pártjának tagjai, illetve velük szövetséges iszlamisták voltak, akik az SPLA ellen zajló konfliktust a főleg keresztények lakta déli térségekben szent háborúként igyekeztek feltüntetni.
A Szudáni Népi Felszabadítási Mozgalom, az SPLA politikai szárnya végül 2011-ben érte el Dél-Szudán függetlenségét, miután békemegállapodás született Besír rezsimjével 2005-ben.

A polgárháborús Líbiában külön kormánytestület foglalkozik a héten talált tömegsírok feltárásával. A líbiai kabinet alig egy hete jutott lélegzethez, miután török segítséggel sikerült megállítania a legjelentősebb hadúr, Halifa Haftár seregének offenzíváját.
A tömegsírok a most visszafoglalt Tarhunában vannak. Ott volt Haftár tábornok utolsó nyugati bázisa. Az ország északkeleti részét a hadúr továbbra is ellenőrzése alatt tartja.
Az ENSZ-főtitkár szóvivője, Stephane Dujarric közölte, hogy a világszervezet líbiai missziója örül annak, hogy a kormány bizottságot állít fel ezeknek a tömegsíroknak a vizsgálatára. Szeretnék, ha ez a bizottság mielőbb nekilátna a helyszín biztosításához, a holttestek azonosításához, a halál okának megállapításához, és a lehető leghamarabb eljuttatná a földi maradványokat a családokhoz.
Líbiában hatalmi harc dúl a 2011-es Arab Tavasz óta, az ország nagy része hadurak kezében van. A most folyó polgárháború 2014-ben robbant ki, amikor a hadsereg volt tábornoka, Halifa Haftár hadjáratot indított a terrorszervezetek ellen mondván, hogy a kormány képtelen leszámolni velük. A törvényhozás, ezzel együtt az ország is két részre szakadt – a képviselőház Tripoliban, a nemzetgyűlés Tobrukban székel. Halifa Haftár tavaly áprilisban a főváros ellen fordult Egyiptom, Szaúd-Arábia, az Egyesült Arab Emírségek, majd Oroszország támogatásával.

A rendőrség emellett öt zsákot is talált feltehetőleg további emberi maradványokkal. A hatóságok a holttestekre eltűnt emberek felkutatására indított nyomozásuk során bukkantak. A mexikói kormány januári közlése szerint a latin-amerikai országban mintegy 61 ezer embert tartanak nyilván eltűntként, túlnyomó többségük az országot 2006 és 2012 között sújtó drasztikus drogháború áldozatává vált. A hivatalos statisztikák szerint tavaly több mint 35 ezer gyilkosság történt Mexikóban.

Az észak-szíriai Rakka tartomány al-Hamrat nevű településén közel 200 ember földi maradványait rejtő tömegsírra bukkantak – adta hírül hétfőn az Emberi Jogok Szíriai Megfigyelőközpontja (OSDH).
A 2011-ben kirobbant szíriai polgárháború eseményeit helyi aktivistahálózata útján nyomon követő szervezet szerint a Rakkát vezető civil tanács úgynevezett készültségi csapata fedezte fel a temetkezési helyet.
Az OSDH szerint a tömegsírban olyan civilek és harcosok vannak elföldelve, akiket az Iszlám Állam dzsihadista szervezet rémuralma alatt ölhettek meg.
Rakkát, amely a terroristák szíriai fellegvára volt, 2017-ben foglalta el a Szíriai Demokratikus Erők (SDF) nevű kurd-arab ernyőszervezet. Tavaly több tömegsírt is találtak a térségben.
