Az információk szerint az eset Izmajilban történt, egy kutyát sétáltató férfi füstre figyelt fel, s amikor közelebb ment, látta, hogy egy holttest ég. Azonnal értesítette a rendőrségeket, akik a helyszínre kiérkezve megállapították, hogy egy 14 éves kislány hunyt el.
A kamerák felvételeinek áttekintésekor kiderült, hogy az áldozat 14 éves barátnőjével sétált, akivel egy iskolában tanultak.
A 14 éves tettes elmondta, hogy azért állt bosszút vele egykorú barátnőjén, mert többször is ellopott tőle dolgokat. Elhívta sétálni, vitt magával olajat, öngyújtót, pokrócot, bekötötte barátnője szemét, mondván, hogy meglepetést készített elő neki, s megkérte, hogy feküdjön le a pokrócra. Ekkor két késszúrást mért a mellkasába, majd pedig felgyújtotta és otthagyta.

Rátámadtak egy eladóra a fővárosban, több késszúrással végeztek vele és ellopták ékszereit. A tettesre életfogytig tartó börtönbüntetés vár.
Az eset a napokban történt Kijevben. A bejelentést követően a helyszínre azonnal kiérkeztek a rendőrök és kinológusok, akik megállapították, hogy a történtekkor az 54 éves áldozat a virágboltban tartózkodott, ahová betért a tettes. Váltottak néhány szót, a férfi távozott, majd kis idő elteltével visszatért, és elkövette a bűncselekményt.
Mint kiderült, a gyilkos egy 37 éves külföldi állampolgár, aki nem rendelkezik állandó lakcímmel a fővárosban. Az ellopott ékszereket is megtalálták nála.

December 31-én hajnali 1 óra körül egy 48 éves huszti lakos hívta a rendőrséget. A férfi arról számolt be, hogy egy ismeretlen személy behatolt a magánterületére, s ő két lövést adott le a bejegyzett fegyveréből. Az ismeretlen fiatal elmenekült a helyszínről.
A rendőrség operatív nyomozócsoportja azonnal kiszállt a megadott címre, ahol lefolytatták az elsődleges nyomozást és kiderítették az eset körülményeit. Megállapítást nyert, hogy a 48 éves huszti lakos fénykép- és videórögzítő készülékről kapott értesítést a pincéjében történő mozgásról. A lakás tulajdonosa elővette a nevére bejegyzett vadászfegyvert és lement a pincébe. A bejelentő elmondása szerint ott talált egy idegent, és felszólította, hogy menjen ki, de a fiú hirtelen a felfegyverzett férfi felé rohant, aki egy lövést adott le a test alsó részébe. Ezt követően az ismeretlen személy kirohant a pincéből, majd a férfi saját udvarán egy újabb lövést adott le a földbe.
A helyszínelés során a rendőrök vérnyomokat találtak. A rendfenntartók átvizsgálták a környéket, és a férfi háza közelében megtalálták egy 17 éves huszti lakos holttestét a combján lőtt sebbel. A kiskorú halálának előzetes oka vérveszteség.
A helyszínen dolgoztak az igazságügyi szakértők és a nyomozók is. Előzetesen a tulajdonos tettét úgy minősítették, mint szándékos emberölés a szükséges védelem határainak túllépése vagy a bűncselekményt elkövető személy őrizetbe vételéhez szükséges intézkedések túllépése. Az ügyben folyik a nyomozás.

A meggyilkolt Roman Legojda fia Kirill pátriárka sajtótitkára, és ukrán szankció alatt áll a „terror- és népirtó politika támogatása miatt” – írja az esetről tudósító Fókusz című orosz lap. A hírek arról szólnak, hogy a 90 éves Roman Legojda holttestét egy szakadékban találták meg az út mellett, Vidnoje városkában. Erőszakos halált halhatott, ugyanis a Mash szerint előzőleg, egy délutáni séta során támadták meg őt és az unokáját. Roman Legojda 18 szúrást kapott.
Az Oroszországi Nyomozóbizottság Moszkvai Régió Fő Nyomozó Igazgatósága arról számolt be, hogy büntetőeljárás indult egy 90 éves helyi lakos holttestének megtalálását követően, aki több szúrt sérülést szenvedett az autópálya szélén Leninszkijben. A nyomozóbizottság vezetője, Alekszandr Basztrikin utasította a főigazgatóság vezetőjét, hogy készítsen jelentést a nyomozásról és az eset körülményeiről.
