Medve támadt két túrázóra Görögország északkeleti, a bolgár határhoz közeli részén, egyikőjük életét vesztette – jelentette az ERT görög közszolgálati televízió kedden, megszólaltatva a túlélőt is. A medvetámadás túlélője egy fára menekült, onnan hívott segítséget.
Medvetámadásban halt meg egy túrázó Paraneszti közelében hétfőn. A tájékoztatás szerint a túrázóra a medve rácsapott, és lehajította egy meredek lejtőn. Társának sikerült megbújnia az erdőben, amíg az állat odébb nem állt.
A szerencsétlenül járt túrázó holttestére később a mentőalakulatok bukkantak rá.
A medvetámadást túlélő férfi a sajtónak azt mondta, a medve elől egy fa tetején keresett menedéket, és onnan hívott segítséget telefonon.
Elmondta azt is, hogy az állat elrettentésére paprika spray-t is bevetettek, de az nem használt.
A közeli falu, Paraneszti polgármestere a rádióban nyilatkozva arra figyelmeztetett, hogy a környékbeli erdős területeken sok vadállat él, medvék is. Hozzátette, hogy a medve csak ritkán támad emberre, azonban ha megijed, könnyen válhat agresszívvá.

Péntek este robbanás rázta meg a Hellenic Train görög vasúttársaság athéni irodájának környékét.
Az ERTNews görög rádió beszámolója szerint a robbanószerkezetet egy motorra erősítették, amely közvetlenül az épület előtt parkolt – írja az MTI-re hivatkozva a hirado.hu.
A rendőrség lezárta a környéket, a hatóságok szerint a robbantás során senki sem sérült meg.
Az ERTNews azt is közölte, hogy a történtek előtt nem sokkal egy ismeretlen bejelentő felhívott egy baloldali lapot és figyelmeztetett a robbantásra, amelyet – szemtanúk szerint – Athén egész belvárosában hallani lehetett.

A Budapesti Antifasiszta Szolidaritási Bizottság (BASC) számolt be arról az X platformon, hogy görög „bajtársaik” március 4-én, kedden megtámadták az athéni magyar nagykövet autóját. Az akcióval pedig egy éppen előzetes letartóztatásban lévő szélsőbaloldali figura, Ravi Trux iránti szolidaritásukat kívánták kifejezni – adta hírül a Magyar Jelen.
A bejegyzés szerint az antifasiszta „hősök” előre kitervelten várták a nagykövetség fekete Mercedesét Athénban, a Vassils Konstantinou és Amyda utcák kereszteződésében. Kalapácsokkal törték be az autó ablakait, majd diadalittasan közölték, hogy ez a támadás egyfajta „szolidaritási üzenet” Maja T.-nak és minden üldözött antifasisztának. Úgy tűnik, az antifák értelmezésében az üldöztetés azt jelenti, hogy valakit bíróság elé állítanak az elkövetett bűncselekményei miatt.
A BASC korábban már részletesen foglalkozott Ravi Trux budapesti tárgyalásával, amely februárban zajlott
A görög antifák azonban továbbra sem elégszenek meg az utcai balhékkal – egyesek már a terrorcselekmények szintjére léptek. A német Hammerbandéval kapcsolatban álló aktivisták néhány hónapja bombamerényletet terveztek egy hazafias rendezvény ellen, de a robbanószerkezet idő előtt felrobbant, saját magukat sebesítve meg. Az ilyen incidensek sajnos nem számítanak újdonságnak: 2013-ban szélsőbaloldali terroristák gépfegyverrel végeztek az Arany Hajnal nevű szervezet két tagjával.
A magyar nagykövetség egyelőre nem adott ki hivatalos tájékoztatást a támadással kapcsolatban.

Tüntetők százezrei lepték el pénteken Görögország városainak utcáit a Görögország legsúlyosabb vonatbalesetének második évfordulója alkalmából tartott általános sztrájkot kísérő tiltakozásokon.
Az észak-görögországi Tempe városában 2023. február 28-án egy személyvonat frontálisan ütközött egy szembejövő tehervonattal. A balesetben 57-en vesztették életüket és sokan megsérültek. Az áldozatok közül sokan hosszú hétvégéről visszatérő egyetemi hallgatók, 11-en pedig vasúti dolgozók voltak.
A balesetért eddig a vasúttársaság néhány tisztviselőjét vonták felelősségre. Az eseményt követő közfelháborodás során azonban sokan „intézményi kudarcnak” minősítették a történteket politikusok felelősségre vonását követelve.
„A teljes igazságnak napvilágra kell kerülnie, és a felelősöket – függetlenül attól, hogy milyen magas pozíciót töltenek be – felelősségre kell vonni” – mondta Jannisz Panagopulosz, az ország legnagyobb szakszervezetének, a pénteki sztrájkot támogató Görög Dolgozók Általános Konföderációjának elnöke. „Menjünk mindannyian az utcára, hogy kifejezzük a görög nép túlnyomó többségének felháborodását és követeléseit” – mondta.
Pénteken vasúti járatokat töröltek, kompokat állítottak le, és országszerte komoly zavarok álltak be a tömegközlekedésben. Az összes nemzetközi és belföldi járatot leállították, mivel a légiforgalmi irányítók a tengerészekhez, mozdonyvezetőkhöz, orvosokhoz, ügyvédekhez és tanárokhoz csatlakozva 24 órás általános sztrájkkal tisztelegtek a baleset áldozatai előtt.
A fennakadásokat a vállalkozások és a közszolgáltatások is megérezték, számos athéni üzlet bezárt, és kirakatában az áldozatok családjainak címzett részvétüzenettel. A fővárosban több mint ötezer rendőrt vezényeltek ki a tömeg és az esetleges zavargások kezelésére. Az athéni ortodox templomokban gyászszertartásokat tartanak az áldozatokért.
A miniszterelnök, Kiriákosz Micotákisz kormányát, amely a baleset után 2023-ban újra választást nyert, az áldozatok hozzátartozói többször is bírálták, amiért nem kezdeményezett parlamenti vizsgálatot a politikai felelősségről. A kormány tagadta felelősséget, mondván, a baleset kivizsgálása az igazságszolgáltatás feladata.
A Pulse közvélemény-kutató cég e héten végzett felmérésében a megkérdezett görögök 82 százaléka szerint a vonatszerencsétlenség „az egyik” vagy „a legfontosabb” kérdés az országban, és 66 százalékuk elégedetlen a baleset kivizsgálásával.

A legnagyobb károk Rodoszon és Lemnoszon keletkeztek. Görögország többi területén is hatalmas pusztítást végzett a vihar, helyenként 130 kilométer per órás szélsebességet is mértek.
Hatalmas károkat okozott Görögországban a Bora vihar a múlt hét végén, amikor özönvízszerű eső zúdult az országra. A viharos szél és az intenzív zivatarok különösen Rodosz és Lemnosz szigetén okoztak károkat. A vihar november 29-én, pénteken alakult ki, és szombatra gyorsan megerősödött, a szélsebesség elérte a 130 kilométer per órát. Rodoszon 300 milliméter eső hullott, ami villámárvizeket és széles körű fennakadásokat okozott. Jelentettek áramszüneteket, iskolabezárásokat, felborult járműveket és összedőlt hidakat, valamint három halálesetet is.
A hatóságok több helyen szükségállapotot hirdettek ki, mivel további heves esőzések várhatók Rodoszon és más keletgörög szigeteken a következő napokban. December általában Görögország legcsapadékosabb hónapja, és a Bora vihart megelőzte az Alexandros vihar, amely szintén az Ión-tengeren alakult ki, és csak egy hónappal korábban érte el a térséget.
A mentőcsapatok a szigeteken – a katonaság és a helyi hatóságok segítségével – számos idős lakost mentettek ki az áradások sújtotta területekről, miután a hétvégén 129 kilométer per órás szél és heves esőzések borították fel az autókat, áramkimaradásokat okoztak, valamint utakat rongáltak meg. A legsúlyosabban érintett területek között volt a népszerű rodoszi Faliraki üdülőhely, ahol az áradás egy hidat rombolt le, szakadékokat nyitott a földben, és megrongálta a part menti otthonokat és üzleteket – írja a The Guardian.
Halkidiki szintén súlyos károkat szenvedett, különösen a félsziget második nyúlványán, Sithoniában. A hírportál szerint lakóingatlanokat, pincéket és üzleteket öntött el a víz, az utak folyókká váltak, a törmelékkel keveredő sárcsuszamlások pedig járhatatlanná tették az utakat. Vasszilisz Kikiliasz, a klímaválságért és polgári védelemért felelős görög miniszter arra szólította fel a vihar sújtotta területeken élőket, hogy kövessék a mobiltelefonos értesítésekkel közölt evakuálási utasításokat:

Kikiliasz az éghajlatváltozást jelölte meg a Görögországban az elmúlt években egyre súlyosbodó időjárási körülmények okaként, ideértve a példátlan hőhullámokat, amelyek erdőtüzeket okoznak, az idei súlyos aszályt, valamint a 2023-ban Közép-Görögországban bekövetkezett hatalmas áradásokat. Hétfőn egész nap fennakadások voltak a vasúti közlekedésben a görög szárazföldön. A mentőszolgálat képviselője elmondta, hogy egy 57 éves férfi holttestét találták meg a gépkocsija mellett.

Egy vihar jelentős károkat okozott az Égei-tenger szinte teljes térségében. Egy ember életét vesztette Görögország egyik szigetén – tájékoztatott a helyi tűzoltóság.
Rodosz szigetét érte a legsúlyosabban a vihar. A tűzoltókat 600 alkalommal vetették be, hogy embereket mentsenek ki és szivattyúzzák ki a vizet az elárasztott házakból. A görög polgári védelem hétfőig megtiltotta a járműforgalmat Rodoszon. Csak a tűzoltóság, a rendőrség és a mentőszolgálat közlekedhet.
Limnosz szigetén egy falut kellett evakuálni az áradás miatt, és egy ember életét vesztette – közölte a tűzoltóság.
Országszerte eddig 1100 esetben kellett bevetésre vonulnunk
– mondta a görög televíziónak a tűzoltóság szóvivője.
A vihart erős szél kísérte. Görögország északnyugati részén heves havazás volt a görög rádió jelentése szerint.
A meteorológiai szolgálat arra figyelmeztetett, hogy a veszély még nem múlt el. A következő órákban Görögország középső részén heves esőzéseket jósolnak.
A vihart hosszú száraz időszak előzte meg, szokatlanul magas hőmérséklettel. Az ilyen szélsőséges időjárási viszonyok a jövőben várhatóan gyakrabban fordulnak elő, mivel az éghajlatváltozás miatt egyre valószínűbbé válnak – közölték a hatóságok.

Erőteljes földrengés rázta meg Görögország északi régióit, Thesszalonikit és Halkidikit vasárnap este. A rengést Görögország második legnagyobb városában, Szalonikiben és a népszerű észak-görögországi üdülőhelyen, Halkidikiben érezték.
Az Athéni Nemzeti Obszervatórium Geodinamikai Intézete szerint a földrengés a Richter-skála szerint 5,2-es erősségű volt. A földrengés helyi idő szerint 19 óra 3 perckor történt (GMT idő szerint 17 óra 3 perckor), epicentruma Nea Moudania városától tizenkét kilométerre (7,5 mérföld) délkeletre volt.
A földrengés mélysége öt kilométer (három mérföld) volt, ami viszonylag sekély, ami sokkal erősebbé tette a rengéseket a tágabb régióban.
