A napok óta tartó esőzések miatt leomlott egy híd Quiliano városában, Campobassóban bezártak egy oltóközpontot, míg Genovában az iskolákat, parkokat és a temetőket is bezárták.
Az olaszok több felvételt is készítettek a természeti katasztrófáról, amelyeken látszik, hogy valóban súlyos a helyzet az országban. A fotók tanulsága szerint több embert a katasztrófavédők mentettek meg és az autókat is majdnem elnyelte a víz az utakon.

Özönvízszerű esőzések voltak Ljubljanában, ami teljesen megbénította a közúti forgalmat, a víz aluljárókat árasztott el, és evakuálni kellett egy színházat – közölte az N1 szlovén hírcsatorna csütörtökön.
A heves esőzések szerda délután kezdődtek az országban, és késő este Ljubljanát is elérték. A fővárosi tűzoltókat mintegy 160 alkalommal riasztották az áradások miatt szerda éjjel.
Rok Kosan meteorológus szerint 250 év alatt legfeljebb egyszer fordul elő, hogy ilyen rövid idő alatt ekkora mennyiségű csapadék zúdul egy bizonyos területre. Ljubljanában tíz perc alatt 25 milliméter csapadék esett, összességében pedig 88 milliméter, több, mint az elmúlt két hónapban együttesen.
A városban szinte minden aluljárót elárasztott a víz, de a lakó- és egyéb épületek pincéit és földszintjeit is, néhány épületben pedig a tető is beázott. A szlovén nemzeti színházban le kellett állítani az esti előadást, miután a víz elkezdett a lépcsőkön keresztül beszivárogni az épületbe. Rokvic Pinteric, a színház igazgatóhelyettese elmondta: az épület nagyon rossz állapotban van, attól tartottak, hogy összeomlik, ezért elkezdték kimenekíteni az embereket, és azonnal riasztották a tűzoltókat.
Sajtóhírek szerint más ljubljanai színházakban is károkat okozott az özönvízszerű esőzés.
A hatóságok arra kérték az embereket, ha tehetik, ne induljanak útnak. Több útszakasz csütörtök reggel is le volt zárva, egyebek között a Ljubljanát elkerülő északi út is.
Az ország más területein is voltak károk, előfordultak viharos erejű széllökések, amelyek fákat csavartak ki és háztetőket rongáltak meg. A muravidéki Lendván például az általános iskola pincéjéből kellett kiszivattyúzni a vizet, Muraszombatban és Laskón magánépületeket öntött el a víz, míg az ország nyugati részében, Cerjében a vasútállomás rongálódott meg, miután rádőlt egy fa.
