Robbanás történt egy vegyi üzemben Mahárástra államban, Mumbai közelében. A baleset következtében legkevesebb 9-en meghaltak és 64-en megsérültek – közölték pénteken a helyi hatóságok.
A csütörtökön, Mumbai egyik elővárosában, Thánában lévő gyár kazánjának felrobbanása miatt keletkezett tűz a közeli gyárakra és házakra is átterjedt. Az épületeket a robbanás lökéshulláma is megrongálta.
A lángokat elfojtották, de a mentőcsapatok várhatóan további halálos áldozatokat találhatnak majd a romok alatt – mondta el Szacsin Szedzsal helyi közigazgatási tisztviselő. Hozzáfűzte, hogy a környéket hatalmas szürke füstfelhővel beborító robbanás okait már vizsgálják.
Az indiai katasztrófavédelmi szolgálat tájékoztatása szerint a vegyi gyárban élelmiszerfestéket állítottak elő, és ehhez olyan erős kémiai reagenseket használtak, amelyek robbanást okozhatnak.
Indiában nagyon gyengék a biztonsági szabályok, és még azokat sem mindig tartják be, emiatt gyakoriak a tűzesetek. Az építtetők sokszor spórolnak a költségeken a biztonsági előírások betartásával kapcsolatban – állítják az aktivisták hanyagsággal és közömbösséggel vádolva a polgári hatóságokat.

Több tucat ember rekedt a tábla alatt, amely egy benzinkút közelében dőlt le a város keleti részén.
Gorav Csohan, a helyi katasztrófavédelem felügyelője az mondta, hogy nyolc halottat emeltek ki a romok alól. Hozzátette, további négy holttest maradványát kell még eltávolítani. A helyzet rendkívül veszélyes a benzinkút közelsége miatt.
Korábban az önkormányzat arról számolt be, hogy 60 embert mentettek ki és szállítottak kórházba.
A hirdetőtábla 70 méter széles és 50 méter magas volt, a bombayi rendőrség X-en közzétett üzenete szerint.
Csütörtökön Mumbaiban záporok és porviharok kísérte viharos időjárás pusztított, amely fákat döntött ki, súlyos áramkimaradásokat és fennakadásokat okozott a vasúti közlekedésben. Médiajelentések szerint a város nemzetközi repülőtérén felfüggesztették a járatokat, és legalább 15 gépet máshova irányítottak át.

Indiában gyakoriak a súlyos balesetek, ezúttal egy emberekkel teli busz gyulladt ki, ami végül használhatatlanra égett.
Újabb súlyos baleset történt Indiában, ezúttal a gyorsforgalmi úton 7 óra 30 perc körül. 36 utas utazott a privát luxus buszon, amikor hirtelen lángra lobbant a jármű az úton. Gyorsan kellett cselekedniük az utasoknak, mert a tűz egyre csak terjedt.
Az NDTV azt írja, egyes források szerint egy kiszakadt gumi és egy rövidzárlat okozta a tüzet. A buszvezető hamar reagált, és leszállította az utasokat, mielőtt nagyobb baj történt volna. Ezzel valószínűleg sokak életét mentette meg, majd a hatóságok eloltották a lángokat. A helyszínen készült videók megmutatják, milyen súlyos volt a helyzet, gyakorlatilag teljesen kiégett a busz.

A Times of India értesülései szerint a tűzoltók dolgoznak a helyszínen. A tűz okait megállapították. A környezetvédők és a tömegmédia ökológiai katasztrófára és közegészségügyi veszélyre figyelmeztetnek.
A Gazipur hulladéklerakó India legnagyobb hulladéklerakója. 2019-ben a szakértők megállapították, hogy magassága 65 méter, ami mindössze nyolc méterrel kevesebb, mint a Qutub Minar téglaminarett, amely a világ legmagasabbnak számít, és az ország egyik leghíresebb műemléke. A hulladéklerakót 2023 végére kellett volna felszámolni.

Indiában felborult egy iskolásokat szállító busz. Hat gyerek meghalt, körülbelül 20 megsérült. Erről a The Telegraph India számolt be április 11-én, csütörtökön.
A hírek szerint 30 gyereket szállítottak egy magániskola buszában. A busz nagy sebességgel haladt, a sofőr elvesztette uralmát a jármű felett, egy fának ütközött és felborult.
A gyerekek kiáltozását hallva néhány járókelő a segítségükre sietett.
A rendőrség tájékoztatása szerint a sofőr ittas lehetett.
Az ügyben folyik a nyomozás.

Az ellenzék vasárnap tömegtüntetéssel indította választási kampányát Indiában, amelyben bírálják Narendra Modi jelenlegi miniszterelnök kormányát, valamint egy ismert ellenzéki politikus őrizetbe vételét. Modi szerint az ellenzék vezetése korrupcióellenes fellépése miatt támadja őt.
A nagyszabású rendőri jelenléttel biztosított, Újdelhiben rendezett ellenzéki megmozduláson egybehangzó közlések szerint ezrek vettek részt.
„El kell döntenetek, hogy demokráciát vagy diktatúrát akartok” – hangoztatta Mallikardzsun Harge, a Kongresszus Párt elnöke.
„Ez egy harc a Bháratíja Dzsanatá Párt (BJP) korrupciója ellen, az indiai alkotmányosságért” – tette hozzá az ellenzéki vezető, akit a The Hindu című helyi lap idézett.
A tüntetés egyik fő témája Arvind Kedzsrivál, Delhi régió miniszterelnökének őrizetbe vétele volt. Az ellenzéki politikust a pénzügyi szabálytalanságok feltárásával foglalkozó hatóság azzal vádolja, hogy figyelmen kívül hagyta az eddigi bírósági meghallgatásra szóló idézéseket egy korrupciós ügyben. A delhi miniszterelnök elfogása miatt az utóbbi napokban több tüntetés is volt az országban.
Arvind Kedzsrivál azt hangoztatja, hogy Narendra Modi Bháratíja Dzsanatá Pártja (BJP) eszközként használja a hatóságokat, hogy felléphessen az ellenzékkel szemben. Kedzsrivál pártja, az Aam Aadmi Párt (Átlagemberek pártja) tagja az INDIA (Indiai Nemzeti Fejlesztési Átfogó Szövetség) nevű ellenzéki összefogásnak, amely a BJP kihívójaként lép fel a közelgő parlamenti választáson.
A legutóbbi felmérések szerint a BJP-nek van nagyobb esélye megnyerni a választást.
A világ legnépesebb országában hét szakaszban tartják a választásokat, a különböző államokban különböző időpontokban voksolnak hat héten át. A szavazás április 19-én indul, az eredményt a tervek szerint június 4-én jelentik be.
A Kongresszus Párt India legnagyobb ellenzéki ereje. Harge azonban nemrég arról beszélt, hogy pártja nem tud érdemben kampányolni, miután az adóhatóság szabálytalanságokra hivatkozva befagyasztotta a bankszámláit.
Modi saját kampányát az Újdelhitől nagyjából 100 kilométerre északra található Mirát városában indította. A kormányfő szerint az ellenzék vezetése korrupcióellenes fellépése miatt neheztel rá.

Több mint 300 tibeti vonult utcára Újdelhiben vasárnap a tibetiek Kína elleni felkelésének 65. évfordulóján.
A tibeti zászlót és a dalai láma képét lengető emberek a parlament elé vonultak és a többi között azt skandálták, hogy „Tibet soha nem volt Kína része”, valamint Kína kivonulását követelték Tibetből.
A tüntetést szervező Tibeti Ifjúsági Kongresszus közleményében azt vetette a pekingi vezetés szemére, hogy Tibet kínai ellenőrzése alá kerülése óta már „több mint egymillió, az elnyomás ellen békésen tiltakozó tibeti vesztette életét a kínai hatóságok brutalitása következtében”.
Kína 1950-ben foglalta el a hegyvidéki országot, amely azóta az egyik legnehezebben elérhető és legérzékenyebb terület a régióban. A tibetiek 1959-ben lázadtak fel a kínai fennhatóság ellen, ám a felkelést leverték, a dalai láma pedig Indiába menekült.
Jóllehet Kína a mai napig veszélyes szeparatistaként tekint a buddhista vallási vezetőre, a dalai láma többször leszögezte, hogy elsősorban Tibet autonómiájáért és a helyiek jogainak, vallási hagyományainak tiszteletben tartásáért küzd.
Jogvédő csoportok és a tibetiek a vallás, a nyelv, az oktatás és a munka szigorú ellenőrzésével vádolják Kínát, de Peking tagadja a tibeti nép emberi jogainak megsértését.

Hét indiai állampolgár kijelentette, hogy Oroszországban arra kényszerítették őket, hogy menjenek a frontra harcolni Ukrajna ellen. Ezt bizonyítja egy indítvánnyal, az NDTV indiai kiadvány bloggerének és újságírójának, Uma Sudhirnak az X közösségi oldalán közzétett videó.
Az indiaiak elmondták, hogy 2023 december végén érkeztek turistaként Oroszországba. Egy utazási iroda állítólag azt javasolta, hogy látogassanak el Belorussziába is, és ők beleegyeztek.
„Nem tudtuk, hogy vízumra van szükségünk. Amikor megérkeztünk Belorussziába, az ügynök pénzt kért tőlünk, majd eltűnt” – mondta az egyik férfi.
Az indiai állampolgárt később a belorusz rendőrség őrizetbe vette. A turistákat átadták az orosz hatóságoknak, akik tolmács nélkül kényszerítették őket orosz nyelvű dokumentumok aláírására.
A News 18 című indiai kiadvány adatai szerint az indiai állampolgárok 15 napos katonai kiképzésen vettek részt, majd „olyan helyre küldték őket, ahol háború van”.

Körülbelül öt évvel ezelőtt a pár ambiciózus célt tűzött ki maga elé: körbe akarják utazni a világot motorkerékpárokkal. Instagram-oldalukon olvashatjuk, hogy már 66 országban jártak, 170 ezer kilométert megtéve.
Az utazók már megtették a Spanyolországtól Pakisztánig tartó távolságot, útban voltak Banglades felé, és a tervek szerint Nepálba is el akartak látogatni. Indiában tartózkodtak, amikor a tragédia történt.
A pár egy távoli helyen vert sátrat Jharkhand Dumkánál. A bloggerek szerint ott támadták meg őket ismeretlenek március 2-án éjjel.
A 28 éves utazó elmondta, hogy hét férfi erőszakolta meg, 64 éves párját pedig megverték.
Az áldozatoknak sikerült felvenniük a kapcsolatot a járőrökkel, és helyi idő szerint hajnali 2 körül szállították őket a helyi kórházba.
Az utazókat egy állami vendégházban helyezték el. Eközben a bűnüldöző szervek tisztjei nyomozást indítottak, március 3-án, vasárnap három gyanúsított őrizetbe vételéről tájékoztatták a közmédiát.
A támadás felháborodást váltott ki a közösségi médiában, rávilágítva a szexuális erőszak veszélyére Indiában.
David Joseph Wolodzko amerikai író és újságíró azt írta, hogy „a szexuális agresszió mértéke, amelyet több éven át Indiában élve tapasztalt, semmihez sem hasonlított”.
Az író viszon kijelentette, hogy szereti Indiát, „mindig is az egyik kedvenc helye lesz a világon”, de azt tanácsolta a nőknek, hogy ne menjenek oda egyedül.

A február 13-án az ország északkeleti részén fekvő Dzsaipurban történt balesetről videófelvétel is készült. A felvételen látható, hogy az állat az ormányával a lábánál fogva megragadja, meglóbálja, majd végül a földhöz vágja a tehetetlen turistát. A hírek szerint a nő lábtörést és zúzódásokat szenvedett.
A hírek szerint a Gouri névre keresztelt elefántnak nem ez volt az első támadása, 2022-ben egy boltost támadott meg.
Az állatvédők javasolják, hogy az állatot szállítsák át egy menhelyre, a turisták pedig ne támogassák az állatkínzást azzal, hogy fizetnek az elefántlovaglásért.
