A rendőrség elárulta, a helyszínen találtak egy kézifegyvert is, a tragédiát pedig gyilkosság-öngyilkosságként vizsgálják.
Jack Shackleford rendőrfőnök megosztotta, a rendőrök korábban több alkalommal is jártak már a lakóházban „családon belüli és mentális egészségügyi hívások miatt”. Jelenleg is folyik a nyomozás az ügyben, ám ennél több információt egyelőre nem kívántak megosztani a nyilvánossággal.

A tanárnőt, Abby Zwernert kórházban ápolják, állapota stabil, a gyerekek közül senki nem sérült meg. A rendőrségi tájékoztatás szerint a fegyvert legálisan vásárolta a kisdiák édesanyja és tartotta otthonukban, ahonnan a gyerek bevitte az iskolába. Az is elhangzott, hogy a gyereket fizikai erővel kellett megfékeznie egy iskolai alkalmazottnak, majd a rendőrség őrizetbe vette. Az eset közvetlen előzményeiről a nyomozás érdekében a hatóság nem adott tájékoztatást. Arról sem adtak információt, hogy a hatéves tettest jelenleg hol tartják. A rendőrség korábban arról tájékoztatott, hogy az életkora miatt a bíróság nem kezeltheti felnőttként, és, ha elítélik, még ahhoz is túl kicsi, hogy fiatalkorúak börtönében, javítóintézetben töltse le a büntetést. Az iskola vezetője közölte, hogy az intézmény, a Richneck Általános Iskola egész héten zárva tart. A tanárnő felépüléséért hétfő este gyertyás virrasztást tartottak. George Parker iskolai kerületi főfelügyelő szombaton azt mondta, hogy a lövöldözés megmutatta, hogy „nevelnünk kell a gyermekeinket, és biztonságban kell tartanunk őket”.

Őrizetbe vett a rendőrség egy hatéves gyereket pénteken a virginiai Newport Newsban, miután rálőtt egy tanárára, életveszélyes sérüléseket okozva – írja az NBC.
A Richneck általános iskolában történt esetben más nem sérült meg, a személyzetet és a diákokat evakuálták.
A lövés akkor dördült el, amikor a gyerek és a harmincéves tanárnő egyedül voltak egy osztályteremben. A tanárnőt életveszélyes sérüléssel kórházban ápolják, az állapota javul.
Egyelőre még nem tudni az indítékot, illetve azt sem, hogyan került egy hatéves gyerek birtokába egy lőfegyver. A rendőrség megállapította, hogy a gyerek szándékosan lőtt, nem baleset történt.
Az iskolában még korábban felszereltek fémdetektoros beléptetőkapukat, de az eset idején nem voltak bekapcsolva.

Egy aggódó szomszéd bejelentésére vonultak ki a bajor rendőrök Bad Staffelstein egyik házához, ám amivel ott szembesültek, az mindenkit ledöbbentett.
A valamivel több mint 10 ezer lelket számláló Bad Staffelstein város egyik lakója tett bejelentést a rendőrségen, miután gyanússá vált számára, hogy rég látta szomszédját. Előtte ő maga is megpróbált utánajárni a dolgoknak, ám amikor benézett a ház ablakán, egy férfit látott a földön feküdni., ezért inkább értesítette a hatóságokat.
A helyszínre érkező rendőrök bejutottak a házba, majd nem sokkal később megerősítették, hogy az épület tulajdonosának holtteste hevert a földön, ám ezzel még nem ért véget a történet, ugyanis a ház átvizsgálása során a rendőrök egy újabb holttestre bukkantak.
A nyomozók a konyha átvizsgálásakor egy női holttestet találtak a fagyasztóban, aki az előzetes megállapítások szerint a férfi 70 éves édesanyja volt, közölte a helyi rendőrség szóvivője.
A boncolási jegyzőkönyv szerint mindkét haláleset természetes okokra vezethető vissza, a fagyasztóba rejtett nő pedig feltételezhetően néhány hónappal ezelőtt vesztette életét.
A nyomozók szerint a házban talált dokumentumokból az is kiderült, hogy a 45 éves férfi senkit sem értesített édesanyja haláláról, és otthon tartotta annak holttestét, hogy továbbra is megkapja a szociális juttatásokat, amelyeket a 70 éves asszony kapott.
