A gép péntek este zuhant le egy Port-au-Prince-i repülőtérről a déli tengerparti városba, Jacmelbe tartó útján, ami jellemzően egy rövid út szokott lenni – jelentette a Miami Herald a Nemzeti Polgári Légiközlekedési Hivatal (NCAO) közleményére hivatkozva.
A baleset oka még mindig nem ismert. A haiti kormány képviselője és az amerikai nagykövetség sem reagált azonnal a Reuters megkeresésére. Eltűnt egy orosz légitársasághoz tartozó, AN–26-os típusú utasszállító repülőgép 28 emberrel a fedélzetén az Oroszország távol-keleti részén található Kamcsatka félsziget felett – közölte kedden az ország katasztrófavédelmi minisztériuma. Néhány órával később a mentőszolgálat azt a tájékoztatást adta: a repülőgép a tengerbe zuhanhatott, keresését sötétedésig folytatják
Értesülések szerint a gép utasai között volt egy építőipari vállalat helyi egységének vezérigazgatója. Korábban Tigil körzet hatóságai azt mondták a közszolgálati hírügynökségnek, hogy főként Palana lakosai voltak az eltűnt gép fedélzetén, mások között a település polgármestere, valamint a helyi közigazgatás három vezető beosztású tisztviselője.
A géppel, amely a régió fővárosából, Petropavlovszk-Kamcsatszkijból a félsziget északi részén fekvő Palana településre tartott, mintegy tíz kilométerre úti céljától, ereszkedés közben vesztette el a kapcsolatot a légiforgalmi irányítás – írja az MTI.
A tájékoztatás szerint helikopteres kutató- és mentőcsapatok tartanak a térségbe. A Kamchatka Aviation Enterprise nevű légitársasághoz tartozó gép fedélzetén 22 utas és hattagú személyzet tartózkodott – derült ki a minisztérium közleményéből. A helyi meteorológiai szolgálat szerint a térségben a gép eltűnésekor felhős volt az időjárás.
A katasztrófavédelem egyik forrása azt mondta: előfordulhat, hogy hibáztak a gép pilótái a rossz látási körülmények között. A személyzet előzőleg nem számolt be semmilyen meghibásodásról. A gép 1982-ben állt forgalomba. Repülési engedélye idén augusztus 30-ig tart – derült ki az elérhető információs forrásokból.
