Valószínűleg a figyelmetlen mozdonyvezető tehet róla, hogy elszabadult egy 53 vagonból álló teherszállító vonat Indiában. A vonat 70 kilométert tett meg és 100 kilométer per órás sebességre gyorsult fel úgy, hogy egyáltalán nem volt személyzet a fedélzetén. Szerencsére végül senki sem sérült meg.
Egy indiai tehervonat elszabadult Indiában, és személyzet nélkül száguldott 70 kilométeren keresztül nagyjából 100 kilométer per órás sebességgel.
Helyi idő szerint éjszaka, 2 és 4 óra között történt az elhagyatott vonat ámokfutása. Az 53 vagonból álló vonat építkezési anyagokat szállított Dzsammuból Punjab felé. A személyzet cseréje miatt Kathuában megálltak, viszont a vezető figyelmetlenségből úgy állította le a vonatot, hogy a vagonok többsége lejtőn volt. A mozdonyvezető és az asszisztense elhagyták a vonatot, ami a váltás érkezése előtt megindult a lejtőn és elszáguldott.
A vonat a 70 kilométeres távon öt állomáson robogott keresztül – írta meg a BBC.
Az elszabadult vonatról értesítették a hatóságokat, akik az útvonalon minden vasúti átkelőhelyet lezártak. Ennek köszönhetően végül senki sem sérült meg.
A járművet végül úgy sikerült megállítani, hogy egy vasúti dolgozó fahasábokat helyezett a sínre, így sikerült lelassítani a vonatot. Ezután egy vasutas fel tudott kapaszkodni a még mozgó járműre, és megállította a szerelvényeket.
A hatóságok közölték, hogy az ügyben vizsgálat indul.

Az ABC News szerint a tűz keletkezési oka egyelőre ismeretlen, a lángokat több mint öt óra megfeszített munkával tudták csak eloltani a tűzoltók. Az oltási munkálatok befejeztével a romok alól 11 holttest került elő, az áldozatok azonosítása folyamatban van.
„Volt egy robbanás is, ami miatt az épület összeomlott a romok alá temetve a munkásokat” – mondta a helyi tűzoltóság vezetője.

A robbanás a Madhja Prades állambeli Hardában történt. Mivel a sérültek közül sokan kritikus állapotban vannak, félő, hogy a halálos áldozatok száma növekedni fog.
A helyszínre mentők és tűzoltók vonultak ki a tűz eloltására és a bennrekedt emberek kiszabadítására.

Nyolc hónap után engedett szabadon az indiai rendőrség egy feltételezett kínai kémgalambot – írta meg a The Guardian a Press Trust of India beszámolója alapján. A galambot tavaly májusban fogták el egy mumbai kikötő közelében, két gyűrűvel a lábán, amelyre egy kínai nyelvűnek tűnő üzenet volt erősítve.
A rendőrség gyanúja szerint a galamb kémkedett, így elfogták, majd a mumbai Bai Sakarbai Dinishaw Petit állatkórházba vitték. Végül kiderült, hogy a galamb egy Tajvanról származó nyiltvízi versenymadár, amely megszökött és eljutott Indiába. A rendőrség engedélyével a Bombayi Állatkínzás Elleni Társaság nevű szervezethez szállították, amelynek orvosai szabadon engedték.
A hatóság nem kívánta kommentálni az esetet.

A Business Standard azt írta, hogy a kamion Ayodhya-ba tartott egy templom felszentelési ceremóniájára, de ezt a hírt később cáfolták.

A helyszínre riasztott vízimentők közlése szerint az áldozatok 7-13 éves gyerekek és két pedagógus, akik osztálykirándulásra és piknikezésre indultak.
Hozzátették, hogy a nagy erőkkel megindult mentés során 13 gyereket biztonságba tudtak helyezni, de közülük ketten intenzív ellátásra szorulnak, további két gyereket pedig még mindig keresnek.
A katasztrófa okáról szólva az egyik rendőrségi vezető azt mondta, hogy a hajón nem álltak rendelkezésre mentőmellények.
Narendra Modi indiai miniszterelnök hivatala a hajószerencsétlenség hírére reagáló, a közösségi médiaoldalán írt üzenetében a kormány nevében részvétét fejezte ki az érintett családoknak és bejelentette, hogy az életüket vesztők családjait 200 ezer rúpiás, a sérültek hozzátartozóit pedig 50 ezer rúpiás segélyben fogják részesíteni; Gudzsarát állam kormánya pedig közölte, hogy 400 ezer rúpiás (1 rúpia 0,44 hrivnya) kártérítésben részesíti a gyászoló családokat.

Amint arról korábban beszámoltunk kalózok támadtak meg és kerítettek hatalmukba egy kereskedelmi hajót Szomália partjainál. Az indiai haditengerészet viszont sikeresen véget vetett a teherhajó-eltérítésnek.
Az ázsiai ország haditengerészetének pénteki közlése szerint egyik hadihajójuk, a Chennai nevű romboló sietett a libériai zászló alatt hajózó Lila Norfolk segítségére, s a haditengerészeti kommandós egységek (Marcos) ugyan nem találtak kalózokat a fedélzeten, de a 21 fős legénységet – köztük 15 indiai állampolgárt – evakuálták.
A tájékoztatás szerint az indiai hadihajó jelenleg segítséget nyújt a Lila Norfolknak, hogy az helyre tudja állítani az áramellátást, s folytathassa útját rendeltetési helye felé.
A kalózok azon próbálkozását, hogy eltérítsék a hajót, valószínűleg keresztülhúzta az indiai haditengerészet erőteljes figyelmeztetése, miszerint egy haditengerészeti járőrrepülő és egy indiai hadihajó közeledik – áll a közlésben.
A brit tengeri kereskedelmi hivatal (UKMTO) és az Ambrey nevű, hajózási biztonsággal foglalkozó brit magáncég csütörtökön számolt be a kalóztámadásról mintegy 850 kilométerre keletre a szomáliai Ejl városától. A tájékoztatás szerint mintegy hat fegyveres szállt fel a teherhajóra, míg a legénység a hajó gyomrában sáncolta el magát.
A teherhajó a bahreini Halífa bin Szalmán kikötőjébe tartott, egyelőre nem ismeretes, hogy mit szállít.
Abhidzsit Szing, az újdelhi székhelyű Observer Research Foundation agytröszt hajózási ügyekkel foglalkozó részlegének vezetője azzal magyarázta a kalóztámadások számának hirtelen megugrását az utóbbi időben, hogy a tengeri rablók kihasználják a jelenlegi helyzetet, amelyben a kalóztevékenység megfékezését szolgáló haditengerészeti erők figyelme az Ádeni-öbölről elterelődött a Vörös-tenger térségére.
A 2008-ban indított uniós, Atalanta fedőnevű, kalózellenes műveletnek köszönhetően jelentősen sikerült visszaszorítani a tengeri rablók tevékenységét. Legutóbb december 14-én jelentettek kalóztámadást a térségből.

Újabb erőszakhullám söpört végig India Manipur államában, ahol etnikai konfliktus miatt több hónapja zajlanak zavargások. A támadásban többen meghaltak és sokan megsérültek.
India Manipur államában először májusban törtek ki zavargások a keresztény kuki és a hindu meitei népcsoport tagjai között. A meiteiek jó ideje küzdenek azért, hogy a kukikkal azonos jogok illessék meg őket, azonban a keresztény őslakosok tiltakoznak ez ellen.
Január elsején a harcok ismét kiújultak, az újabb zavargásban legkevesebb 3 ember meghalt és 12 súlyosan megsérült, közülük 7 a biztonságiak kötelékébe tartozik
A Reuters információi szerint a biztonságiakat kézigránátokkal és gépfegyverekkel támadták meg.
A hatóságok hétfő késő este határozatlan idejű kijárási tilalmat vezettek be Thoubal körzetben és négy másik szomszédos kerületben is.
A Reuters szerint már legalább 180 ember halt meg az első erőszakhullám óta.

A Sky News azt írja, hogy kigyulladt egy busz egy indiai autópályán, miután összeütközött egy teherautóval szerda este Madhja Prades államban.
A balesetnek legalább 13 halálos áldozata van.
Az utasok közül 12 kettő halálra égett, míg a sofőr már az ütközés erejétől meghalt.
További 16 embert kórházba vittek égési sérülésekkel vagy töréssel.
Az ilyen baleset elég gyakoriak Indiában. Ennek okai: az utak rossz minősége, az elöregedett járműpark és rossz vezetési morál. Novemberben 36 ember halt meg, mert egy busz szurdokba zuhant, míg májusban tíz zarándok halt meg hasonló körülmények között.

A libériai zászló alatt hajózó Chem Pluto nevű olajat és vegyianyagot szállító tankert szombaton érte támadás mintegy 370 kilométerre az indiai partoktól. A legénységnek sikerült eloltania a keletkezett tüzet, áldozatok nem voltak.
A történteket követően az indiai parti őrség Mumbai kikötőjébe kísérte a tankert, amely Szaúd-Arábiából szállított nyersolajat a dél-indiai Mangaluruba – ismertette a védelmi minisztérium Újdelhiben. India még mindig nagyban támaszkodik a közel-keleti olajszállítmányokra dacára annak, hogy az ukrajnai háború óta nagyobb mennyiségben vásárol az energiahordozóból Oroszországtól is.
Rádzs Nath Szingh védelmi miniszter, akit a helyi PTI hírügynökség idézett, hangsúlyozta, hogy vizsgálatot indítottak annak kiderítésére, ki a felelős a támadásért. Az amerikai védelmi minisztérium Iránt vádolja a történtekért, az iráni külügyi tárca azonban visszautasította ezeket a vádakat.
