A Nemzetközi Bíróságnak (ICJ) a rafahi katonai műveletek azonnali beszüntetésére tett felszólítása ellenére az izraeli fegyveres erők (IDF) szombaton is akciókat hajtottak végre a Gázai övezet legdélebbi városában.
Az IDF szombati tájékoztatása szerint katonái az elmúlt 24 órában több tucat, rájuk tüzet nyitó palesztin fegyveressel végeztek Rafahban, részben közelharcban, részben pedig célzott légicsapások révén. A jelentés szerint az izraeli alegységek rakétakilövő állásokat és alagutakat semmisítettek meg, és fegyverraktárakat számoltak fel.
A Wafa palesztin hírügynökség kórházi dolgozókra hivatkozó jelentése szerint az izraeli légicsapásoknak egy polgári áldozata volt Rafahban.
Az elmúlt napokhoz hasonlóan harcok dúltak a Gázai övezet északi részén fekvő Dzsabalija menekülttábornál is.

Huszonhatan meghaltak Gázavárosban csütörtök hajnalban az izraeli hadsereg (IDF) két légicsapása nyomán, a halottak között gyerekek is vannak – jelentette be a gázai katasztrófavédelem szóvivője.
Mahmúd Besszál azt közölte, a légicsapások lakóépületeket, valamint egy mecsetet és egy iskolát értek, s hozzátette, hogy a halottak között legkevesebb 15 kiskorú is van, öt gyerek az iskolaépületben vesztette életét.
Mindeközben folytatódtak a harcok a Gázai övezet északi részén lévő Dzsabalíja környékén és az övezet déli részén, az egyiptomi határnál lévő Rafahban, ahonnan az összecsapások miatt az ENSZ becslései szerint már több mint 800 ezren menekültek el.
Szerdán az egyiptomi tájékoztatási hivatal vezetője, Dia Rasván kilátásba helyezte Egyiptom távolmaradását a további béketárgyalásoktól, miután a CNN amerikai hírtelevízió arról számolt be, hogy az arab ország hírszerzése módosításokat hajtott végre a legutóbbi tűzszüneti ajánlat tervezetén.
A közösségi médiában is megjelent közleményében Rasván leszögezte: Kairó közvetítői szerepének kétségbe vonása csak tovább nehezíti a Gázai övezet és az egész térség helyzetét.
Egyiptom – Katar és az Egyesült Államok mellett – a gázai háború októberi kitörése óta igyekszik közvetíteni a felek között.

A jelenlegi gázai fegyveres konfliktus halálos áldozatai között több mint hatezer édesanya volt az ENSZ nők jogaival foglalkozó szervezetének keddi közleménye szerint, melyben hozzátették, hogy az októberben kirobbant konfliktus nyomán már 8000 nő vesztette el férjét és 19 ezer gyerek maradt árván.
Egyiptomban tartott videókonferenciáján Susanne Mikhail Eldhagen, a szervezet arab országokért felelős irodavezetője aláhúzta, hogy az özvegységre jutott nők helyzete különösen nehéz, házastársuk elvesztése után ugyanis az egész család ellátásának terhe rájuk hárul, miközben a legutóbbi felmérések szerint nőként nehezebben jutnak élelemhez is.
Eldhagen elmondta, hogy bár az élelmiszerhiány az egész Gázai övezetet rendkívül súlyosan érinti, a helyzet különösen szívszorító a frissen szült nők és szoptatós anyák körében.
„Rengeteg nő víz és érzéstelenítés nélkül kénytelen világra hozni gyermekét, emiatt pedig nőtt a nemi szerveket érintő megbetegedések és a húgyúti fertőzések száma is” – magyarázta.
A videokonferencián felszólalt a Gázai övezetből nemrég visszatért Tess Ingram, az ENSZ Gyermekalapjának (UNICEF) szóvivője is, aki a konfliktusban megsebesült gyerekek nagy számára hívta fel a figyelmet. Mint mondta, naponta körülbelül 70 kiskorú sebesül meg a térségben, a háború kezdete óta pedig a gázai egészségügyi minisztérium adatai szerint 12 000 gyermekkorú sebesültről tudni.
Aláhúzta: az övezet lakosságának a fele gyermek, így elkerülhetetlenül veszélyben vannak az izraeli hadsereg műveletei során.
„Olyan háborúban, ahol minden tíz percben egy gyerek meghal vagy megsebesül, minden eddiginél fontosabb a tűzszünet” – szögezte le.
A gázai egészségügyi minisztérium keddi közlése szerint a háború kezdete óta már több mint 33 800 ember vesztette életét a harcokban. Az utóbbi 24 órában a tárca 46 halottról és 110 sebesültről tud.

Több tucatnyian meghalhattak és sokan megsebesültek egy robbanásban a Gázai övezet középső részén lévő Al-Maghazi menekülttáborban szombat késő este – közölte egy közeli kórház tisztviselője, írja a CNN.
A halottak pontos számát még nem lehet tudni, a gázai minisztérium szerint több mint 30 embert találtak a romok alatt. A Wafa palesztin hírügynökség korábban azt közölte, hogy 51 palesztin halt meg és többen megsebesültek a bombázásban.
A Deir Al-Balah-i Al-Aqsa Mártír Kórház ápolási vezetője a CNN-nek azt mondta: a tábor egyik házát érte találat, a lakókat bombázták, az áldozatok között sok a nő és a gyerek.
Az al-Maghazi tábor egyik lakója, Jamal Al Aloul azt mondta, hogy épp mélyen aludt, amikor hirtelen „az egész épület ránk zuhant”. Két gyereke halt meg a támadásban.

A Hamász terrorszervezet által Izrael ellen indított támadás óta a harcokban 22 újságíró vesztette életét október 20-áig – közölte a New York-i székhelyű Bizottság az Újságírók Védelmére (CPJ) elnevezésű szervezet.
A halálos áldozatok között van 18 palesztin, három izraeli és egy libanoni újságíró. Ezenkívül nyolc médiamunkás megsérült, további három pedig eltűnt vagy őrizetben van.
