Hétrendbeli gyilkossággal vádolják azt a férfit, aki július 4-énfüggetlenség napi ünneplők közé lőtt a Chicago melletti Highland Parkban. A támadásban hét ember vesztette életét és több mint 30 megsérült. A férfi heteken át tervezhette a gyilkosságokat.
A 21 éves Robert Crimo Youtube-rapper nőnek álcázta magát, hogy ne keltsen gyanút, és alaposan megtervezte a támadást. Menekülés közben tartóztatták le. Rokonai még fel sem ocsúdtak, hogy mit tett.
„Egyszerűen összetört a szívem, darabokra hullot” – mondta a férfi nagybátyja. „És még most sem tudom elhinni, hogy ez megtörtént. És imádkozom az áldozatok családjaiért, imádkozom mindazokért, akik megsérültek, megsebesültek.”
A rendőrség szerint Robert Crimo, aki egy épület tetejéről több mint 70 lövést adott le válogatás nélkül a tömegre, „legálisan” vásárolta a fegyvert Illinois-ban.

A brazil légierő közölte, hogy vasárnap elkaptak egy repülőt két A-26 Super Tucano vadászgéppel. Először követni kezdték, miután képtelenek voltak felvenni vele a kapcsolatot. A két csempész elmenekült, még nem sikerült elkapni őket.

„Törvényesen viselte a fegyverét, és ahelyett, hogy elfutott volna a fenyegetés elől, szembenézett a veszéllyel és több életet is megmentett” – mondta a rendőrségi szóvivő. A nő a lövöldözés után a helyszínen maradt, és együttműködik a nyomozókkal. A rendőrség szerint nem emelnek vádat ellene, jogos önvédelemből lőtt.
Az eset a hét eleji texasi iskolai lövöldözés után történt. Egy tizenéves fegyveres 21 embert – köztük 19 gyereket – ölt meg egy texasi általános iskolában egy legálisan vásárolt félautomata puskával. A támadás, amely az elmúlt évtized legsúlyosabb iskolai lövöldözése volt Amerikában, újból kirobbantotta a fegyverviselésről szóló vitát, amelyet az Egyesült Államok alkotmánya biztosít az amerikai állampolgároknak. Ennél az esetnél viszont életet mentett a nő alkotmányos joga, hogy fegyvert tarthat magánál.

A nézeteltérés miatt Tuckson értesítette a Prince George’s megyei rendőrséget, akiknek felmutatta a hamis jelvényét. A rendőröknek szemet szúrt, hogy a férfi az étteremben hagyta kiképzett kutyáját, a rendőrkutyás tisztek azonban ezt nem tehetik meg.
Kérdőre vonták, ezért a férfi egy barátja, Nijea Rich telefonon keresztül a felettesének adta ki magát. A rendőrök nem hittek neki, ezért letartóztatták Tucksont. Eközben Rich is a helyszínre sietett hamis egyenruhában, kézifegyverrel, bilincsekkel, rádióval és egy bővíthető gumibottal.

Ha mindkét vádpontban elítélik, Tuckson legfeljebb 13 év börtönbüntetésre számíthat, míg a magát a férfi felettesének kiadó Rich legfeljebb öt év börtönbüntetésre számíthat.
A férfi nem először áll bíróság elé, ugyanis 2006-ban, 2009-ben és 2018-ban is megvádolták hasonló bűncselekmények elkövetésével.

A jelentések szerint a rendőröket hét gyilkossághoz riasztották az elmúlt héten, amit városszerte kordonok jeleznek – írja a V4NA nemzetközi hírügynökség. London munkáspárti, pakisztáni migráns hátterű polgármestere, Sadiq Khan semmit sem tesz a helyzet javítása érdekében, sőt ellenkezőleg: forrásokat von el a rendőrségtől.
Bár a járványhelyzet miatti tömeges halálozások számának növekedése lassulóban van, a brit fővárosban a korlátozások csökkenésével ismét visszatért minden a régi kerékvágásba, beleértve a gyilkosságokat is. Az elmúlt héten Londonban hét halálesethez riasztották a rendőröket, melyek közül az első múlt pénteken történt, amikor egy fiatal fiút szúrtak le fényes nappal.
Az eset után egy nappal, július 11-én egy idős férfit ütöttek el, aki belehalt sérüléseibe, de még aznap négy másik késelésről is beszámoltak a jelentések, melyek nem voltak halálos kimenetelűek.
A legaggasztóbb, hogy a legtöbb esetben arról számolnak be, hogy nem történt letartóztatás az ügyben, tehát a tettesek még ma is szabadlábon lehetnek.
Vasárnap Kensingtonnál történt gyilkosság, de aznap nemcsak ez okozott fejfájást a hatóságoknak, hanem az asztalok és székek, amelyekkel fejbeverték őket, miután megpróbáltak feloszlatni egy gyülekezést a város pénzügyi negyedében.
Az utcai lövöldözéseken kívül, mely egyébként szokatlan egy erős lőfegyverbirtoklási szabályozással rendelkező országban, már másnap újabb késelést jelentettek, amikor szintén egy védtelen fiatalt késeltek halálra Maida Valeben.
Július 16-án a hatóság Twitter bejegyzésben tette közzé, hogy két halálos áldozata is van a már egyre gyakoribbnak számító lövöldözéseknek.
Pénteken már két gyilkosság ügyében is nyomozott a Metropolitan rendőrség, mindkettő késeléshez köthető haláleset volt. Ezzel hét nap leforgása alatt hét halálesetet regisztráltak, ami aggasztó tendencia tekintve, hogy még csak most kezdte el lazítani a főváros a kijárási korlátozásait, és nem tudni mi lesz, ha teljesen fel is oldja azokat.
London munkáspárti, pakisztáni migráns hátterű polgármestere ráadásul 110 millió fonttal (kb. 120 millió euró) csökkentette a rendőrség támogatását, ezt június végén jelentette be. Sadiq Khan szerint a járvány miatt csökkent a főváros bevétele, ezért volt szükség erre az intézkedésre. Khan kritikusai ezt a lépést viszont a radikális baloldali mozgalmak követelésével hozzák összefüggésbe, hiszen azok a rendőrség költségvetésének a radikális csökkentését, szélsőséges esetben pedig az erőszakszerv megszüntetését követelik.

Beregszászban a 2. Galíciai dandár 3. zászlóaljának gárdistái a rendőrség munkatársaival közösen vettek őrizetbe egy férfit, akit zsarolással vádolnak. Ezért a rendőrök úgy döntöttek ellenőrzik a férfit. A motozás során a nadrágzsebében egy kis csomagot találtak, amiben fehér színű, por állagú anyag volt, külsőre amfetaminra emlékeztetett. A becsült súlya 5 gramm.
