Legkevesebb 6, a járványos gyermekbénulás elleni oltási kampányt végző egészségügyi dolgozók védelmére kirendelt rendőr meghalt, több mint húszan pedig megsebesültek hétfőn, mert felrobbant egy út szélén elhelyezett pokolgép a rendőrök szolgálati járműve közelében Pakisztán Haibar-Pahtúnhva tartományában – közölte a rendőrség.

A merénylet csupán néhány órával az év első járványellenes kampányának indulása után történt az ország északnyugati részén. Elkövetőjeként az afganisztáni tálib vezetéssel szövetségben álló, ám tőlük függetlenül tevékenykedő Tehrík-i-Talibán Pakisztán (TTP) nevű iszlamista terrorszervezet jelentkezett.
A mentőszolgálat közlése szerint rohammentőket irányítottak a helyszínre, a kórházakban pedig vészhelyzetet hirdettek, és orvosokat hívtak be a sebesültek ellátására.
Az oltási kampányokat szigorú biztonsági intézkedések mellett indítják el a pakisztáni hatóságok, az oltást végzőket rendőrök és a biztonsági erők más tagjai kísérik.
Az elővigyázatosság oka, hogy az utóbbi évek oltási kampányai során több támadás érte az egészségügyi dolgozókat, szélsőségesek ugyanis azt terjesztik, hogy a vakcina meddőséget okoz az immunizált gyerekeknél, az oltási kampány mögött pedig „nyugati összeesküvést” sejtetnek.
Afganisztánban a tálibok a 2021-es hatalomátvételük előtt megtiltották az oltások beadását az általuk irányított területeken. Az ENSZ azonban a tálib vezetőkkel folytatott tárgyalása során elérte, hogy országszerte folytathassák a gyerekek beoltását.
A világon már csak Pakisztán és Afganisztán nem mentes a gyermekbénulás kórokozójától, miután 2020-ban Nigéria bejelentette, hogy sikerült megszabadulnia tőle.

Pakisztánban könnygázzal oszlattak fel egy nők által szervezett fővárosi tüntetést, amellyel a szervezők a délnyugati országrészben nyom nélkül eltűnt férfiakra kívánták felhívni a figyelmet. A rendőrség legalább kétszáz nőt, köztük gyerekeket tartóztatott le a demonstráción – közölték a helyi hatóságok és a tüntetés résztvevői csütörtökön.
Mahrang Baloch, a tüntetés vezetőjének elmondása szerint több ezren indultak útnak Pakisztán-szerte, hogy részt vegyenek a demonstráción, amellyel Beludzsisztánban eltűnt személyekre és az önbíráskodás miatt meggyilkolt férfiakra hívták fel a figyelmet.

Pakisztánban elfogták egy hírhedt orvos és egy autószerelő vezette szervkereskedő hálózat tagjait – közölte hétfői sajtótájékoztatóján Mohszin Nakvi, Pandzsáb tartomány kormányfője.
Mint mondta, a bűnözők legkevesebb 328 illegális vesetranszplantációt hajtottak végre. A műtétek egy részét magánotthonokban végezték el, olykor a páciensek tudta nélkül.
A rendőrségi vizsgálatok szerint a gyanúsítottak áldozataikat a kórházakból csalogatták el. Favád Muhtár, akit erkölcstelen orvosi gyakorlat miatt már többször őrizetbe vettek, a név szerint nem említett autószerelőt műtéti asszisztensként, illetve aneszteziológusként alkalmazta.
Nakvi szerint a vesék darabját 10 millió rúpiáért (120 ezer dollás) értékesítették.
A szervkereskedő hálózat nyolc tagját tudták őrizetbe venni. A bűnszervezet Pandzsáb keleti részén, illetve Kasmír pakisztáni fennhatóság alatt álló részén működött.
Legkevesebb három olyan emberről tudni, aki belehalt az illegális műtétbe. Nakvi hozzátette: valószínűleg a 328-nál „sokkal több” illegális transzplantációt és műtétet hajtottak végre, de azokra nincs bizonyíték.
Pakisztánban 2010 óta tilos az emberi szervek kereskedelme. A törvényszegőket tízévi börtönnel és súlyos pénzbüntetésekkel sújtják. A szabályozással a kormány igyekezett megakadályozni, hogy kizsákmányoló közvetítőkön keresztül külföldi vevők jussanak illegálisan szervekhez.
A pandzsábi rendőrség legutóbb januárban jelentette be egy szervkereskedő hálózat felszámolását, miután egy illegális laborban rátaláltak egy eltűntnek nyilvánított 14 éves fiatalra, akinek eltávolították az egyik veséjét.

Öngyilkos merénylő robbantotta fel magát egy iszlám ünnepségen a délnyugat-pakisztáni Beludzsisztán tartományban pénteken, legalább tizenhárman meghaltak, több mint 40-en megsebesültek – közölték helyi hatóságok és kormányzati tisztségviselők.
A terrortámadás a tartomány Masztung körzetében történt, ahol Mohamed próféta születésnapját ünnepelték. Atta Ullah, a helyi kormányzat egyik munkatársa azt mondta, a sebesültek közül néhányan válságos állapotban vannak.
A merénylet helyszínéről egyelőre eltérő információkat közölt a rendőrség: míg egyes hírek szerint a merénylő egy mecset előtt robbantotta fel magát, más források szerint a robbanás egy rendőrségi épületnél történt. A húszas éveinek elején járó férfit, aki egy nyelviskolában tanított, pénteken ölték meg. Diákjai vádolták istenkáromlással, bár nem tudni, hogy milyen kijelentést tett, amellyel magára vonta haragjukat. A vádak tisztázása végett a tanárt iszlám jogtudósok testülete elé idézték.
A Dawn című angol nyelvű pakisztáni lap szerint a férfit ismeretlen személyek akkor ölték meg, amikor a találkozóra igyekezett, ahol tisztázni akarta magát a vád alól. Az áldozat családja nem értesítette a rendőrséget, így a tartományi hatóságok vasárnap vizsgálatot indítottak.
Pakisztánban nem ritkák a halálos kimenetelű lincselések blaszfémia gyanúja esetében. Februárban egy tömeg megrohant egy rendőrőrsöt, és brutálisan meggyilkolt egy istenkáromlással vádolt férfit, márciusban pedig egy lányiskola három tanárnője ugyanezen indokkal lefejezte egyik kolléganőjét. 2020-ban egy istenkáromlással vádolt amerikai-pakisztáni kettős állampolgárt a tárgyalóteremben lőttek agyon.
Az iszlám vagy Mohamed próféta megsértése a pakisztáni törvények szerint halálbüntetéssel sújtandó. Akit ezzel vádolnak, gyakran szélsőségesek célkeresztjébe kerül. Emberijogvédő csoportok szerint az istenkáromlás vádját gyakran vallási kisebbségek megfélemlítésére és személyes leszámolásra is felhasználják.
