Hackerek lopták el a hatóságoktól a kanadai kormányzati szolgáltatások igénybevételéhez szükséges fiókadatok ezreit – közölték az állami pénzügyi szervek helyi idő szerint szombaton.
A hackerek több mint kilencezer GCKey-felhasználó nevéhez és jelszavához fértek hozzá. A GCKey segítségével mintegy 30 állami szerv és a kanadai adóhivatal biztosít online szolgáltatásokat felhasználóinak. Az adóhatóság mintegy 5500 felhasználói fiókját is feltörték.
Az összes érintett fiókot lezárták, hogy megvédjék az adófizetők adatait. A rendőrség és a kanadai kormány nyomozást indított annak érdekében, hogy kiderítsék: hozzáférhettek-e érzékeny információhoz a hackerek.
A CBC kanadai állami tévécsatorna szerint több helyi állampolgár már augusztus elején észrevette, hogy változások történtek az adóhatóságnál vezetett fiókjaikban. Előfordult például olyan eset, hogy egy adófizető nevében valaki koronavírus-segélyhez folyamodott.
