A börtönőrök szakszervezete hétfőn felszólította az illetékeseket, hogy a börtönőrök testi épsége és egészsége védelmében tegyenek már valamit, illetve emeljék a pótlékjaikat. A felszólítást azzal nyomatékosították, hogy elmondták, a HIV-pozitív rabok egy része megpróbál rajtuk úgy bosszút állni, hogy HIV-vírussal szennyezett, hegyes eszközökkel szurkálják meg őket, hogy így megfertőződjenek.

A jelentés szerint Ukrajnában a 2020 januári állapotoknak megfelelően 1268 új HIV-fertőzéses esetet regisztráltak hivatalosan, 322 páciensnél diagnosztizálták az AIDS-t, 176-an pedig meghaltak a szerzett immunhiány okozta szövődményekben. A múlt év decemberében a hasonló halálesetek száma 228 volt az országban.
A közlemény arra is emlékeztetett, hogy a világban az utóbbi években csökkent a HIV-fertőzéses esetek és az AIDS-ben elhunytak száma, miközben több fertőzött és beteg részesült egészségügyi ellátásban. A járvány kezdete óta világszerte 74,9 millió ember fertőződött meg HIV-vírussal, és 32 milliónyian haltak meg AIDS-ben.
