 Az ügyészek cáfolták a helyi médiában megjelent híreket, miszerint a nő és a férfi egy párt alkotott volna. Azt is hozzátették, hogy a halott férfinál kokaint és egyéb narkotikumokat találtak. Elmondásuk szerint azonosították a lövöldözés feltételezett elkövetőit és keresik őket.
 Nem ez az első alkalom, hogy az üdülővárosban turisták halnak meg mexikói drogbandák kereszttüzében. 2021-ben két turistát lőttek le egy tulumi étteremben egy kábítószer-kereskedők között kialakult tűzharc során.

 A nyugat-ausztráliai Cohunu Koala Parkban a kenguru követni kezdett két látogatót, egy nőt és gyerekét. Ezt látva egy férfi úgy gondolta közbelép. Odaállt a nő és a kenguru közé, az állat és a férfi között ekkor kezdődött a verekedés.
 A kenguru mellső lábaival kezdte ütlegelni az amerikai turistát.
 Körülbelül 30 másodperccel később a férfi fia is közbelépett és megpróbálta megnyugtatni az állatot, ami egy rövid időre sikerült is neki.
 A tűzszünet azonban nem tartott sokáig, hiába próbált a két férfi többször is elmenni, a kenguru látszólag folytatni akarta a harcot.

 Egy alkalommal mindkét férfi megragadta a kenguru egyik mellső lábait, de a kengurunak sikerült kiszabadulni és egy gyors manőverrel megrúgta őket.
 A kétperces verekedés után egy ottdolgozó nő szigorúan mutogatni kezdett a kengurunak és az állat, meglepő módon megnyugodott és felhagyott a verekedéssel.
